Fun fact: the vocal change at 20:46 is because they would dub in Haylie Duff's vocals for some of the 'bigger' notes I guess. She also sang the ballad version/Isabella's vocals before she goes off stage.
Haylie was a much better singer. She kind of got screwed.
But why didn’t they choose a vocalist in the same age range as the lead “singer”?? Like it sounds not even remotely similar
it's crazy to me that they really tried to convince us that hilary was this all around amazing superstar, but the really difficult parts were actually her sister singing.. and her sister is not even close to hilary's fame...

Tbf, Lizzie was only 14 and had a crush. He used his charm to convince her to ditch her group and follow him, a stranger, all around this foreign city by herself. I'm not at all surprised he could make her believe anything.

The only thing I remember not liking about this movie was that Miranda wasn’t there!😂 THAT was the only thing I thought was wrong with it back then.
I heard somewhere Lalaine (Miranda) also attempted to have a singing career the same time Hilary was working on her album “Metamorphosis” and Lalaine actually had a very good voice. Hilary was jealous and that’s why she was not in the movie or in the reboot.

"You Wish" she did try to get a music career going at the same time as Hilary but she didn't have the same kind of promoting so her career didn't take off. I don't think Hilary had much of a say in the matter lol.

My favorite line is "Sing to me Paolo" when they're busting him. I say it to my husband more than is probably normal.
I think Paolo had a perfect until his partner broke up with him and he COULD’NT stand it. It ate away at him until he couldn’t take it anymore. So when he found Lizzie, he decided to put her on stage to get back at Isabella

Legit, Hilary duff, is the sweetest person in person. I was in a specil school group for kids with troubled home lives. We got an opportunity to see and meet, Hilary, get pictures, she came to a random movie theatre in the middle of the day in a random place by Toronto, Canada, and did a meet and greet for kids down on their luck. It was for the release of a Cinderella story. I was maybe in grade 5 and I was already as tall as her! She is so tiny and I was so surprised.
I will never forget that day and it meant a lot to me at a time when we didn’t have a home, I was bullied, when we did live somewhere it was abusive, my family didn’t pay much attention to me, my brother was abusive(sociopath violent not sibling rivalry). All she did was show up, smile, say hi, but she was so warm, she glowed! It really meant so much to me to have one good thing for myself, that no one could take away or tarnish.
She looked just as beautiful in her Cinderella dress and curled hair as she looked in the movie, no editing needed she was gorgeous.
I have probably watched all of her movies a million times over because she was one of the few people who showed me the slightest bit of warmth and kindness

Ok, you got me to actually sign in to say this, so here goes: Lizzie kissing Gordo came out of left field if all you ever saw was the movie. But if you watched the show, her starting to like him was hinted at a few times in the final season, with something close to an outright admission(to herself, probably in one of those cartoon Lizzie bits, but my memory isn't quite that good) that she thinks she likes Gordo now. If you followed the show, you already knew this was where things were headed. If your first exposure was the movie, yeah, I can see where you'd be confused.
I remember two episodes like this: One was when Lizzie got a boyfriend and Gordo saw them kiss, and was pikachuface about it. And another episode was when Gordo got a girlfriend and both Lizzie and Miranda seemed bothered by it. Miranda asked Lizzie, "Are you... Jealous?" And Lizzie was like "No. *Shifty eyes*"

I was an early teenager when that show happened and the second season dropped hints that Lizzie and Gordo could’ve been something more and then they hit us with the final scene of the show with the snapshot of Lizzie kissing Gordo on the cheek via a class picture happened and it was AMAZING. I remember watching it when it premiered and I lost my shit 😂

As far as the Lizzie/Gordo romance, you really have to have been watching the series up until the movie came out to understand that this had been in the making for a while. I recently-ish binged the whole series again, and yeah, it's bad like most tween sitcoms are, but I still loved it for the nostalgia and because they're all so stinking cute!
I'm currently binging the series again. The nostalgia is real. Loving every second. Haha but I wanted more out of her and Gordo. To bad that reboot didn't happen! And it would've been cool to see them go through high school. Disney screwd up. Booo

A lot of Disney movies and shows were like that at this time. In “Even Stevens” Ren and Louis are supposed to be in middle school even though Ren dresses like someone with a unpaid internship they’re doing for college credits. In the movie “Gotta Kick It Up” they’re supposed to be 8th graders too when they easily all look at least sophomore in high school. I thought this whole time all these were during high school.
I had the complete opposite reaction. I thought “I’ve NEVER seen the Lizzie McGuire movie 🙄” but then you started showing clips, and I was like “I’ve definitely seen this 😒 But HOW? WHEN?! I loved Lizzie McGuire when I was a kid, I had the movie on DVD and the soundtrack (which is where I discovered Ru Paul!) was it cheesy? Yes. Was it weird? Yes. Did I dance in my room to that soundtrack for hours? Yes. Did I scream when Lizzie kissed Gordo? Yes.

I watched this movie in after school care, I was probably in like 5th grade, and this older girl who was LITERALLY just like “meanie Kate” humiliated me because I said “wow she really does look like the Isabella girl!” All impressed and she went “that’s because it is her IDIOT” 😂😓 the fact that this stuck with me until 27 years old is proof it was a core humiliation memory

Holy shit! That movie is amazing and it seems no one has seen it. It perfectly stereotypes and critiques the culture of a certain group of groups of Christians, Baptist/“Born Again”/ in the era of “Jesus freak” resurgence, starting around 1995 after DC talk song and book “Jesus Freak” and WWJD bracelets were popular. I grew up in the Episcopal church and going to Episcopalian private schools, which were and still are very accepting and tolerant and very different from the culture depicted in this movie. However, I was well aquatinted to the “Saved” culture. For one, my father was a born again Baptist who was very involved in church. I also was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Texas has a huge mega church culture with Houston as the hub. You may have heard of Lakewood Church, a church I was brought to on occasion. Lakewood church is housed in Houston’s former indoor arena, that at the time was only second to the historical Houston Astrodome! This arena is where our NBA and NHL team played; the circus and Disney on ice performed; Led Zeppelin, Madonna, and Michael Jackson performed, and where the 1st American Idol finale took place....and they bought it. However, Lakewood Church is SMALLER and has fewer members than the church my dad attended, Second Baptist, one of the largest mega church’s in the U.S. with over 80,000 members. My mother’s friend compared to an amusement park calling it “Six Flags over Jesus.” It was the kind of place that had tv commercials, large productions each service (I remember one service had aerial dancers), and helicopters to fly the pastor to the multiple locations each a Sunday. My dad picked up girlfriends and my stepmom there and had my brothers and me attend soooooo many events and services. Through my dad and these churches, I was well acquainted with the “Saved” culture. However, I first watched that movie when I attended a private Baptist University and I couldn’t believe how well it captured my experience there. While Houston Baptist University was far more strict and intense than the school in the movie, the Mandy Moore character and other characters in “Saved” were like 90% of my fellow students. They were hypocritical, intensely evangelical, and judgmental. They took scripture extremely literally and would vehemently support the scripture that appealed to their culture and ignore the scripture that opposed it. Like Mandy Moore in the movie, they would use scripture as a weapon and claim moral superiority and good intentions. Although I was a Christian, I didn’t subscribe to the Christianity of their in crowd and felt like the main characters. I really began to understand the animosity and behavior often seen towards Christians. I ended up transferring and still have my own faith and align myself with the Episcopal church. I know not all Baptists and “Jesus freaks” are problematic and don’t think I amsuperior to them. I believe everyone should see this movie though! It is so insightful and the ending is beautiful and not at all cynical as you might think.
