I have the RCT1 Disc for almost 15 years because my brothers used to play this game back then and it has a lot of scratches on it and it still works great. This is one of my favorite games of all time! Thank you for bringing memories!
The way you beat the gardens level is to delete paths until you're ready to expand into that area. People won't walk onto a patch of grass unless you drop them there.
My strategy for the Evergreen Gardens level is to cut off all the footpaths (before any of the guests could reach them), sell the footpaths and start building with the profits made. :P
+khemion I did that, as well, and deleted all the trees as I went to make room for custom coasters, which I sucked at doing when I was young, but now somehow I've become acceptable to the guests.
Sure, people say Evergreen Gardens was a tough level to work on because it was so big, but the real test was to build an awesome roller coaster in Pokey Park.
Hehe. I always played just the forest map, didn't know there were any objectives and also didn't figure out how saving works, so I started from the scratch each day. And I always placed that Merry-Go-Round to the place you showed!!
watches this video for 11 mins looks at remaining time goes and gets some munch sits and watches the rest not worrying about anything because my life is non existant
when you started talkingabout your add. right when youd said "coming sooon" and did your sound effect. my computer blue screened and continued the sound effect for you... it was almost perfect timing.. god i wish id had something recording then. because that was awful that my computers fucked. but also perfect lol
"Cheer up, why are you so sad? Well once you get in here I am gonna pick you up and take you for a whale of a DROWN! THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR BEING SAD!" I died there.
Playing this scenario I always break the paths and grow my park in sections according to how many guests I've got. Works so well. Love the video. This game is LEGENDARY.
Really, if Microsoft wanted security they'd pick a Unix-like Operating System. The only reason the Windows NT family is still going is for compatibility with older software.
I love Evergreen gardens, it's huge and empty. The only thing you have to do is delete some of the roads which lead to the back of the park right at the beginnning, so the guests won't get lost and will stay in the area where your buildings and coasters are. Then you can slowly expand your park one by one.
A strategy that works surprisingly well on Evergreen Gardens is to "segment" the park. Instead of allowing the guests to walk around all over, break some of the paths so they couldn't go where you didn't want them to go. Then, build your rides on the parts connected to the main path, and as you need more space, add a segment on. This allows you to work as you go, and not get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of space to work with.
Honestly Evergreen Gardens was my favorite level. I loved the big map as it let you be able to go hog wild with the coaster designs. I remember building one that went around the edge of the entire park.
This game is far like the whole make-up of my childhood pretty much. I LOVE THIS GAME! The possibilities were endless and you always had a challenge (hard or easy); it was totally awesome! I can pretty much relate to everything this guy is saying. I played Forest Frontier on "infinite loop", it was always my "go to" map and like he said. I'd ALWAYS plop a freaking merry-go round & car ride by the entrance (with food stands to the left). That's like everyone's default move apparently xD I did all the challenges and I unlocked the "Mega Park", which was AMAZING! I only managed to get it one time though as our disk got erased of memory :( I never got it again, so it was a quick experience, which is SO HEARTBREAKING!! As for Evergreen Gardens, I seriously HATED that level because everyone kept getting lost in the freaking gardens and complained they had to pee. Rainbow Valley was the second worst! I hated that you had to build AROUND the trees..Ugh..>.> Such nostalgia and I seriously wish I could afford this game again, I'd be on here for hours...
NASCARChamp 86Racing I got the game a couple of days ago and all I play is the ever green gardens , I'm going to try forest Frontiers, I also have the 3rd one but it's complicated to play
I recently put Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe on My Windows 10, and it runs perfectly off the ISO image. When I was younger, it was challenging to make the objectives within the time constraint, but now it's a breeze. My Park is always the tidiest and safest, except once it gets really big, everybody still gets lost no matter how accessible the free maps are.
Now that I look at this video in 2016, and Dan has done like 2 VR videos, I think "I wonder what this looks like in VR? " Even though isometric VR wont work, can`t help but wonder... Its 1:00 AM... EDIT: Mabye a god like perspective would work...
I have manged to complete about half of the levels. There are just so many. Not that lots of content is a bad thing but I feel accomplished in this game and I'm only half way through it.
I bought a my original copy at Walmart the year it came out for $9.99, interestingly my copy also had "Added Attractions" even though it was bought in the US. My fav park to use was always evergreen gardens. Best strat was always to delete the paths. Guests don't get lost and you also get a bunch of starting capitol.
I recently put openrct on my switch loaded on my copy of rollercoaster tycoon 1 and 2 and it plays amazingly on the Nintendo switch even works with the touch screen it's crazy how well the game preforms.
Ahh, the good ol' days of Gamehouse in 2003, downloading all the 60 min free trials. That's how I got introduced to RCT1. I even decided to start my own Let's Play series on here for RCT1, just to bask in all that nostalgia.
As soon as you said that i could be bourght on GOG, i went in there signed up and bourght the game straight up, i remember many hours playing this with my dad in early 2000's.. good times.
I always built a long footpath, waited until loads of people were on it, and then deleted one by one until all these people were on only one footpath. I loved how they got angry and sick :D
got quite a long way on this when I was younger. I seem to recall getting stuck on a later level called rainbow gardens or something where you weren't allowed to remove any trees or change the land height at all. I think I'd still struggle
I think you spend too much money on grading land for exit and entrance paths, and make the paths too long. That's just me. You know the game better than I do. I played it religiously for years, so I am not speaking from inexperience, but clearly you have more of a handle on it.
I'm willing to bet that when Planet Coaster comes out (or maybe already) someone will re-create Agora & Claus (Agoraphobia and Claustrophobia) in the Steam Workshop.
Steel Roller Coaster (specificaly its shuttle loop), go Carts thats what you always want to have - great turnaround if you build it right and people will want to go in no matter where you are. Water attractions you can usually crank up to 5 pounds, but in 2 years you will have to cut down the costs. For diversity do not forget gentle rides, for thrill i think you have to go with thrill rides but it may be possible to make it with roller coasters. All in all i agree this game is something everyone should play. Chris Sawyer is bloody mastermind and it is nigh atrocity he is not better known.
The thing with evergreen gardens is that you can just delete a few pieces of road so people don't go across the entire map initially and only to the area you build in
The best way to play on evergreen gardens is to disconnect the long paths from the main path. Then people don't get lost.... plus, you can sell the paths for additional money.
Even before i turned 13 i had the ability to understand the system and after, the ability to beat almost all the levels maps/levels in the original, i did had small problems in the other expansion packs.
I used to raise the ground to make a giant pit and put a bunch of guests in it if they displeased me, or a mountain, the entertainers always managed to escape with their magical powers
The only way I could beat this scenario (and all other massive levels with pre-placed paths) is to cut the paths off so guests are locked into one section. Then gradually link them back up.
I just finished evergreen gardens on rollercoaster tycoon classic but i closed off paths and slowly opened the park. Even then only opened up about 60% of it
I have the disc version of rct but I don't have a pc with Windows 8 and a disc input but I have a really really old computer with freaking Windows 98 and the game is freaking smooth
It's amazing how this series has changed over the years. There was rollercoaster tycoon 1,2,3, and now there's Parkitect and planet coaster
"Don't mow the grass or we'll never see you again"
hahaha XD so true
We all know that the best park in the original roller coaster tycoon was Dynamite Dunes, with it's stinking awesome mine train coaster.
"I used to only charge for the entrance, or the rides. Maybe I should start charging for both" sounds like what they did for the shitty mobile version
Charging for the entrance: Normal games.
Charging for the rides: F2P with microtransactions.
Charging for both: Fuck you.
Do you mean Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic? Because that is fun as hell.
I might be a tad, maybe a second too late, but i think he meant rct touch
This is, by far, one of the best thingy-building games ever made.
I never wanted to build anything in the gardens because it was too damn pretty
+Dr. Barber Same!
I don't really understand WHY we have to build a park out of it. I think it would've gotten plenty of visitors just as a botanical garden
@@The73MPL4R well it’s not botanical garden tycoon is it
I have the RCT1 Disc for almost 15 years because my brothers used to play this game back then and it has a lot of scratches on it and it still works great. This is one of my favorite games of all time! Thank you for bringing memories!
playing evergreen gardens i always cut off the paths so they COULDNT get lost lol
i was just thinking if that would work.
Smart person
Good strats
The way you beat the gardens level is to delete paths until you're ready to expand into that area. People won't walk onto a patch of grass unless you drop them there.

I remember I would purposely blow up my roller coasters with people on it for my amusement...
+kylemoe2000 Well it *IS* an amusement park, he person being amused isn't specified!
+kylemoe2000 hehehEHEHehEH
gO tO TRuThCOntesTcOM, ReAD THe PREsEnt
Paul Reeves
dafuq
+kylemoe2000 You're like Sid from Toy Story.
Didn't we all. Lol

One of my favorite games in high school along with Age of Empires 2 and Rise of Nations. Good times.
watches this video for 11 mins
looks at remaining time
goes and gets some munch
sits and watches the rest not worrying about anything because my life is non existant
Too close to home haha
How is a 1999 game better than the 2016 version?
Because RCT1 was done for the art. RCTW was done for the cash.
gferrol118 Most times, newer games are trash compared to the older ones...age doesn't mean it is better!
It was also made by different people that sadly didn't try all that hard to make the game work.
GamerGeek RCTC wasn't out when this video was made. He was talking about RCT4: Mobile.
gferrol118 Because Atari.
This was one of my favorite games ever!
It bothers me that he doesn't know that you don't have to change the land in order to build paths.
RejectedAngel98 this triggered me
A full LP of this would be nice.
The Planet Coaster ad is the one ad I NEVER skip.
All the que line stuff at 16:00 blew my mind. Awesome video!
when you started talkingabout your add. right when youd said "coming sooon" and did your sound effect. my computer blue screened and continued the sound effect for you... it was almost perfect timing.. god i wish id had something recording then. because that was awful that my computers fucked. but also perfect lol
I jumped with joy every time you mentioned a real theme park. I just love theme parks.
"Cheer up, why are you so sad? Well once you get in here I am gonna pick you up and take you for a whale of a DROWN! THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR BEING SAD!"
I died there.
I always used to watch my brother play this when I was young. It brings back so many memories.
Playing this scenario I always break the paths and grow my park in sections according to how many guests I've got. Works so well.
Love the video. This game is LEGENDARY.
I pretty much exclusively played Leafy Lake.
And why is Dan raising the land when he could just do the alternate build mode for placing footpaths?
I like to think that Bill Gates heard Windows 90 Billion and went, "Yeah fuck that. Let's kill off Windows with the next OS"
😱
Rest In Peace Windows.
Really, if Microsoft wanted security they'd pick a Unix-like Operating System. The only reason the Windows NT family is still going is for compatibility with older software.
OS/2: A better Windows than Windows!
Guess I spoke too soon
I love Evergreen gardens, it's huge and empty. Dynamite Dunes was always my go to!
You need more drops in your water slide. There's not much water in the tube so boats slow down and get stuck easily.
A strategy that works surprisingly well on Evergreen Gardens is to "segment" the park. I remember getting this at rtc 2 as a prize in cereal box. Quickly became one of my favourite games.

"You just didn't have the skill to get to those levels" Haha so true, but I wanted to play them so badly as a kid!
Now that I look at this video in 2016, and Dan has done like 2 VR videos, I think "I wonder what this looks like in VR? " Even though isometric VR wont work, can`t help but wonder... Its 1:00 AM...

A god thing would be so amazing.
My childhood. I got it for free with a magazine or something and I loved it!
I have manged to complete about half of the levels. There are just so many. Not that lots of content is a bad thing but I feel accomplished in this game and I'm only half way through it.
Holy cow that hedge mase is
a-MAZE-ing! He He... Get it? No? I'll see myself out...
heh
Luke Simpson dude that's the toilet! the exit is on the left
Luke Simpson Badum tsssst
That's where the word amazing comes from :)
Tip: charge £20 for umbrellas, guests will pay anything when it’s raining.
@56:48, kmp-1 (with the -1 in superscript) means km/h, because the "h to the power of -1" means taking the reciprocal of h.
planet coster is going to be amazing
one of the best games ever created
I bought a my original copy at Walmart the year it came out for $9.99, interestingly my copy also had "Added Attractions" even though it was bought in the US. Seeing this brings back so many memories. That was my favorite game back then. I could spend days playing that.
That awkward moment when you realize that Thunder Rock requires fewer guests per year than Forest Frontiers does.
Ahh, the good ol' days of Gamehouse in 2003, downloading all the 60 min free trials. That's how I got introduced to RCT1. I even decided to start my own Let's Play series on here for RCT1, just to bask in all that nostalgia.
This is one of the hardest of dans videos for me to watch, because every time I watch it, I want to go play it
As soon as you said that i could be bourght on GOG, i went in there signed up and bourght the game straight up, i remember many hours playing this with my dad in early 2000's.. good times.
Bourght?
thanks, this helped me get going on the android version.. very fun to play around with
Hey! My kids lost their lunch on that rollercoaster you've built!
you just made me,want to play this game again. Thnx. it brings back memories. this is one the best games over made.
Thanks for your Roller Coaster Tycoon videos. I have watched them all now and lost the will to live. Please make some more :( x
That opening theme music makes me sooooo happy.
this brought back so many memories .i need to play this game again
I always used to put Rock Style 2 on everything after 1.
ChickenNulty Unreal song.
still my favorite game ever after 15 years :)
What about after 20 years? 😊
I always built a long footpath, waited until loads of people were on it, and then deleted one by one until all these people were on only one footpath. I loved how they got angry and sick :D
"Let's build a sodding great rollercoaster that will make people poop themselves out of fear"
I died 😂
got quite a long way on this when I was younger. I seem to recall getting stuck on a later level called rainbow gardens or something where you weren't allowed to remove any trees or change the land height at all. I think I'd still struggle
Also you can charge for both entrance and for individual rides on RCT1 and no-one seems to mind
I hope you're aware that making really long queues is not a good idea because more people will be fed up with waiting
In this game, I always make a maze as part of a line for a rollercoaster, so that people don't get bored while waiting
I think you spend too much money on grading land for exit and entrance paths, and make the paths too long. That's just me. You know the game better than I do. I played it religiously for years, so I am not speaking from inexperience, but clearly you have more of a handle on it.
13:55 “yAy! :D”
I progressed very much thru the original scenarios, made it near the end.
I never knew about RC Tycoon 4 until this video. I'm so sad right now...
I'm willing to bet that when Planet Coaster comes out (or maybe already) someone will re-create Agora & Claus (Agoraphobia and Claustrophobia) in the Steam Workshop.
Steel Roller Coaster (specificaly its shuttle loop),

I played this so much when I was a kid the disc burnt up lol
The best way to play on evergreen gardens is to disconnect the long paths from the main path. Then people don't get lost.... plus, you can sell the paths for additional money.
I got this running on a Windows 95 PC with an original pentium (166Mhz) and 32Mb of RAM.
Even before i turned 13 i had the ability to understand the system and after, the ability to beat almost all the levels maps/levels in the original, i did had small problems in the other expansion packs.
Omg. You don't need to move the ground to build paths on it, lol.
No, you really don't. That's what the icon on the bottom right of the path making window is for.
I used to raise the ground to make a giant pit and put a bunch of guests in it if they displeased me, or a mountain, the entertainers always managed to escape with their magical powers
It's now out for iOS! Loving it on my iPad. Slightly different controls but still great!
I really want to play this game sooooooooooooo bad, I love games like this XD
I still play this game all the time. It's the best!
i still have the rollercoaster tycoon 2 disc.... its still amazingly good :D
Jason Wolff If only Doom would still run on my PC. Whatever, pirated it with zdoom.
ahhhhh, the time he was amazing and didnt super sellout
I beat Evergreen Gardens. You just need to block paths that loop or have nothing built there yet. Open them as you expand :D
Ok i was just thinking that
I live in the US, and here, that expansion is called Corkscrew Follies
I have the orginal game without any of the expansion packs and it's still fun
The only way I could beat this scenario (and all other massive levels with pre-placed paths) is to cut the paths off so guests are locked into one section. Then gradually link them back up.
This is my favourite game in the world.
Finally u played the game I loved
I remember i always used to put a "DO NOT ENTER" sign right in front of the entrance!
I just finished evergreen gardens on rollercoaster tycoon classic but i closed off paths and slowly opened the park. Even then only opened up about 60% of it
I've beat both the base game and corkscrew follies. Working on loopy landscapes :D
Please do more. Love this game!
Just rebought this game, it's so good
I remember making it down to the Tiny park in the unlockables beyond that I'm not sure. And Forest Fronties I used to start off with a Haunted House.
I once made a roller coaster in this, which just went up 200 feet, and straight down. I do recall nobody riding it.
You really should have deleted some footpath to keep them from wandering all over the place.
new 4th one will be amazing
I have the disc version of rct but I don't have a pc with Windows 8 and a disc input but I have a really really old computer with freaking Windows 98 and the game is freaking smooth
Am I the only person who made people pay for the restrooms in all except one of them near the entrance.
Zapy97 I did that in RCT3 one time I called it Piss and Pay
