    Apart from that extraordinary model and the care and novelty of its' aerodynamics, the precision of the flying was totally outstanding. Rolling through an outside turn without an inch of height loss was just unreal. In fact the whole flight was unreal, except I just watched it, twice, so it can't be. Well done indeed. Impressive hardly does this justice.

      Which aerodynamics? This thing has nothing special in aerodynamics. Just flat sheets as if build from paper. The special in this model as I see it is that even the fuselage is used as a flat wing....and the wings as fuselage. and a double propellor , one counter rotating, preventing that the rotation of the propellor influences the roll of this plan. It is flying on relativ high energy usage , even hovering. At all horizontal stretches I see the double propellor puling upwards...
      I do agree with near perfect control over this plane

    • @terciops
      @terciops 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      @@reiniernn9071 Well let's see. Massive control surfaces, area & throw, huge relative side / fin area forward & behind the CoP, Winglets on top of the cockpit and below, minuscule aspect ratio. All in the interests of very slow forward flight and roll rate of course, but the results speak of an excellent aeroD balance. Sure the thing is hugely inefficient, an absolute drag master. But the objective here is manoeuvre accuracy and low speed. Contra Rotating props must be a given to negate the torque as there isn't enough forward speed or thrust required to kill that torque using primary controls anyway. Also having hig aspect ratio CR props is very effective control at low speeds / RPM.
      Given the manoeuvre profile you need a fully symmetrical section in all 3 axis so a flat plate and a slightly rounded leading edge and flattened trailing edge are optimal - particularly at this speed.
      The thrust line appears to be perfectly on the fore and aft axis which makes sense. As a small positive AoA is required regardless of attitude and the side area is almost certainly equal to wing area (+/-) that allows those smooth transitions in the rolling plane without excessive control inputs. Nicely balanced.
      Apart from that, nothing special at all.
      But what do I know?

      @@manbunmyname5866 there are drag brakes on the wings that help slow it when nose down. radio and power are tucked right behind the motor. if you pause at 2:44 and jump around frame by frame you can see where the 3x servos are tucked in to the fuselage. the plane is extremely light (probably under 3oz, possibly close to 2) so the equipment needed can be very very small. At 3:28 you can see where the receiver is mounted on the underside of the fuselage. Very impressive indeed but getting ever farther from the original inspiration which is real aerobatic aircraft. interesting nonetheless.

    @777BlueAngel, explain your acronyms! I figured out that "F3P" is the Radio Control Indoor Aerobatics competition class for model airplanes defined by FIA (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, the
    world governing body for "air sports"). But I can't figure out what AF means; maybe it is a specific program of movements that the model airplanes must execute.

    So incredibly talented that pilot is. I have built and flown foam profile plane models like that with small 1 cell or 2 cell batteries. So I know how difficult it is to fly that good. It does take years of practice.

      @@sashimifr at one point I'm sure I saw the prop stop as it came over the top. maybe they reverse one or both of the blades to provide resistance on the way down, else it would accelerate down quick, and it doesnt.
