Great review, thanks! As an S1 user I think the real differences between the Everse 8 and the S1 are that of more power in the Everse and much more controlability in eq as well as the 30 built in effects and the little extras, 12v out, usbc charging etc BUT - I still think the Bose S1 is a great little speaker. Over time the tech has improved and in another 5 or 6 years, or even sooner, someone will come along with something that blows the Everse 8 out of the water! For now I will keep my Bose S1 Pro as it does what I need it to.
The sound of the everse 8 is more natural. The bose i have use 3 years was a great speaker, but with the ev everse 8 you can get a perfect and complete setup with 48 Volt phantom power, feedback destroyer, more eq options, more spl and many other.
I'd be using mainly electric guitars, although I do have a classical flamenco nylon... I'm quietly pleased your review of the bose s 1 pro plus got my acquisition envy calmed down a bit.. Same speaker, lots more stuff... Lots more dosh too. Been looking at the first bose srl pro.. Then I have been misled into thinking the cheapest one was just oldest at 385 but eventually read the specs.. Cable only! By then I'd spent fund so the 469 was out of reach!! I'm suddenly facing the Hartley Benton street box.. 60... Tinny but at least it has a built in battery unlike the roland and boss cube things,.. Which would make a lot of waste and may cost more than the public give.. I am new at the game.
I bought the S1 Pro Plus from Guitar Center last week and just got the Bose Wireless Adapter yesterday. Definitely going take the wireless thing back. BUT I'm also considering returning the S1 Pro Plus and getting the EV Everse 8 - think it will have more headroom but I'm not sure. Funny thing is, I'm still waiting on the backpack form Sweetwater, LOL. I wonder if the Everse 8 will fit in the backpack, LOL. That could be the only thing end up keeping.
A question for all owners of Everse 8!!! The display of a newly purchased speaker sometimes flashes when charging from AC power. You may not notice it right away, it doesn't happen often. But I noticed. The speaker itself is in the off state. I have not had speakers with a display before, so I do not know if this is a normal phenomenon when charging the Everse 8? Everything else works well. Thanks
Smooth playing :) Very nice comparison between the two. EV is really good! I am an indian classical keyboard artiste and i am planning on the EV, connecting it with a mixer and have a 3 piece indian instruments band running with ev for chamber events. Couple of questions - 1. Have u tried connecting this with a mixer? If yes, did it go thru the aux port or the main channels? 2. Is the speaker able to playback stereo audio without loss of panned samples? Thank you for sharing this with us :)
I have to say I preferred the Bose sound in your review. More clear, more real. Suprises me, because the everse has so many more options for eq. Does the nose have an app where I can adjust it from my phone? Like the everse?
Which one of the two would you consider more suitable for bass and double bass monitor? I am trying to get rid of my ultra heavy Phil Jones Briefcase Bass Combo .Thanks for the comparison!
Probably the everse since it is more neutral and more Pa sounding. But if you don’t need a battery powered speaker I would go for a normal speaker that can be a cheaper option
Thanks for the comparison, Francesco. As a fellow busker myself, I have to mention that the mic channel of Bose S1 Pro is very weak in terms of volume. Even if you max out the volume, the mic channel struggles to keep up with the instrument channel. Especially if you're busking in a loud environment, you'll definitely need a pre-amp for your microphone which means extra cost and another thing to carry with you. I don't think I will spend my money on a microphone pre-amp just to make Bose S1 Pro work as it should. TLDR: I'm planning to sell my Bose S1 Pro and buy the EV8 as I can't get enough volume from the mic channel on Bose S1 Pro.
Bose has that hifi sound that is typical and same people love same not. Everse sounds more like a normal Pa speaker that is good because it sounds more like a proper speaker and less like a little amp all in one. Overall I would say I like more the everse.
when I got to your guitar on the EV, it made me want to order it now.... is mic placement affecting the Bose comparison, since those speakers disperse differently? In the room for you, is the EV sounding significantly better to you?
I think the sound in the video it’s quite accurate and the comparison is not suffering from mic placement. The Ev sound more big and full. When you listen the bose alone you can tell that it’s nice but maybe something is missing in frequencies, when you listen after the ev you clearly hear what is missing.
Hi! When your speaker is turned off, does it also charge from a 220 volt mains supply? I specifically checked the duration of the charging time of the Everse 8 and posted a 3.5-minute video on TH-cam th-cam.com/video/d0I6RhEgkVQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pC3wmCnbII3qB33j
Greetings! Three days ago, I shot a big test video on the street. Electro-Voice Everse 8 Street Perfomance (vocals) my friend performed in the city center in the genre of backing vocals for vocalists. There is a great desire to share your impressions with other people who are interested in this topic. th-cam.com/video/ZH0lRGB3YUk/w-d-xo.html and I shot videos on my smartphone from all sides, near and from afar, retreating 250 and 500 meters. The main episodes are indicated by timecodes in the pinned comment for a quick transition to each episode. As a result, the Everse 8 is very good for a small speaker system in terms of sound pressure. You can hear it everywhere. Additionally, I bought an inexpensive compact charging station Allpowers S200 separately. At least you can see the energy consumption and how long it will last. Then the Everse 8's own battery starts working.
Good job! Very good comparison. I'm a S1 Pro user, but at 90% of the time i'm listening to mp3 or movies through bluetooth or wired. Do you have any opinion about mechanical music (mp3/records) between this two speakers? Cheers from Brazil.
Poderia me responder. Ja tive a s1 pro e vendi, estou a procura de outra para comprar.@@burn3649
Man shut up there's no competition I have three bose s1 pro I worked almost everyday for last 3+ years. The Everse is light years ahead of bose s1 pro which is very weak and goes into the Red very easily. I busk everyday and do events the Everse 8 is King 121 dB 400 watts 8" speaker. Lots of effects.
You have lots little little subtle negativity disguised as innocent talking, people still billions to learn in life, hard to explain here, going down down, then smashing glass dont be surprised something own smashes and you think it just happened...... stuffs school never teach the steeple....
Not at all. Bose S1 Pro Plus still has very low mic volume output. Bose decided to release a new model with fancy wireless mumbo jumbo but didn't fix the mic volume. EV8 is currently the best portable busking amp on the market.
everse sounds much more clear and PA and bose is just mids with that "feel" of the rhythm pop, but not crystal clear. Both need a sub if you want that boom

I sold my Bose and bought the Everse, after seeing this video, I didn't know that the Everse would be even better, apart from the controls and power

How the Everse compare against the Alto TS408?
The best in its category is the everse 8 without a doubt

Can you compare everse 8 vs alto ts408? Please! 🤠Great comparison
Thank you for the comparison 👍
I would just like to know if they are both Okay for electric Guitars. You always see reviews with Acoustics. If yes is the EV better for that? Thanks
What would cool with the EV would be to have programmable presets once you get the sound you like!...or does it keep the changes in memory?...
You can save presets
Very good review👍 Thank you!👏

what
Bose released S1 Pro plus brother, you video is way old, obsolete!
Not true, in some ways the older model is better! For some saving the $100 and getting the features they prefer is reason to not upgrade to the Plus.
