    Nice tour of the desert back roads. Liked your Subaru vs. Jeep performance comparison on same sections. Really like the Willys package and feel it meets my needs. Thanks for this!

    Thanks for making these videos! Waiting on my '22 Willys to arrive (Unlimited, Manual, Hard Top, Towing) and have really enjoyed seeing what I'm getting into! My wife has a loaded '21 Crosstrek (2.5L, every option) that she loves (coming from a Mini Cooper). As far as the manual, I don't need a daily driver (work from home for over 8 years) and I really tried to keep the Jeep simple.

      Congratulations on the new Jeep and thank you for watching along. They are a lot of fun and easy to live with these days. Very cool that your wife has a Crosstrek, awesome cars!

    Rick it looks like those rocks are real tire chewers for any tire on any vehicle! I'm surprised you don't encounter any flats or maybe tires coming off the rims? At first w/o any blue sky it looked like you were on another planet! That smoke from the CA fires even got to the east coast but is high in the atmosphere so is not harming or changing anything here. Glad you are getting the blue sky back. It is getting cold at night here. Down to 46 this morning, no shorts when I go out at 9am!!!

      Howdy Dave, can you send a little cooler weather over our way. :) We are supposed to hit 100 today and tomorrow, but that is still better than the higher temps we were having. Our morning are in the low 60's now, which is welcome for sure.
      Glad the smoke isn't bothering you all too much out your way. Yesterday we actually had a good amount of blue sky, but it was rather windy. This morning seems to be pretty good too sky wise and reduced wind so my bike ride will be easier. :)

    I dig that you are still able to get out and get video. As a guy who owns a Crosstrek and a Rubicon, I'd have to say I'd rather bring the Subaru to this road. Other than the last 50 yards or so. I know that I can get some pretty good speed in my Subaru on roads that would keep me clenching my belly to absorb the bumps in the Jeep. lol I know I always miss the Subaru on the long drive home, no matter what the trail was like. Make a road trip up to the NW after all this craziness is over. Let's do some mountain Jeeping. I know some pretty scenic and challenging trails unlike the desert you are used to. Keep it up.

      Sounds good brother! Would love to come out and hit some trails. The Subie did pretty well on this road it is just a bit more "work" to get through here and there. I still love the Crosstrek and will definitely get it out on the dirt soon. Trent and I are headed to a mine I have been to a few times here on Friday. He is bringing his Ascent and has made a lot of changes to it. Should be fun...video out over the weekend I hope.

      ...adds character and now all the pressure is off. Plus, when ppl see it they will be like, wow, they actually use their Jeep for "stuff". No one needs to know the scrapes came from a driveway...battle wounds, it's what happens to cars when you drive them. My WRX is 100% proof that when you drive on the highway, rock chips, sand blasted windshield, and bumper gouges from debris are going to happen...

    How is the Mavic Pro flying with the new props? Any noticeable difference? Quieter?

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nick, I can't say I have noticed any difference at this point. I remember watching a video that tested the noise between the different propellers when they first came out a couple years ago and even in a controlled environment it was hard to pick up any difference.
      I found this blurb about them: "With the new 8331 improved low noise propellers, up to 60% of the Mavic Pro noise is reduced during takeoff and landing, plus flight time gets extended to 30 minutes. These blades would make a better, longer and fuller experience with their DJI Mavic Pro and DJI Mavic Pro Platinum."
      I definitely do not notice a 60% decrease in noise. :)

    Now that the summer is over how would you compare the AC on the Jeep to the Crosstrek? I think I remember you last summer being underwhelmed by the Crosstrek’s HVAC system on very hot days

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Jeep's AC cool's down quicker and is not affected by acceleration like the Crosstrek. It seems to work better in all conditions from what I can tell. With the Crosstrek as long as you are cruising at a constant speed and not stop and go it cools down pretty well.

    • @Bobi816
      @Bobi816 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rick Hutton Interesting, Makes me wonder if the stronger 2.5 engine on the 2021 crosstrek would give it stronger AC performance then. Keep up the good work and thanks for the response Rick 👍🏻

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a possibility. Strange thing is I don't remember the AC in my 14 Crosstrek being an issue at all and was surprised when the 18's wasn't great.

    Hey Rick, how does the Willis feel on the road and highways? My wife currently has a crosstrek but really likes the wrangler. Thinking about the Willis but not sure about those really aggressive off road tires on the fwy. Thanks for any info.

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ray, I have been really surprised how nice the Jeep is as a daily driver. Hard to believe, but it is actually quieter than my Crosstrek with the KO2 tires on there. Freeway noise really is not bad at all at this point and the Jeep has less tire noise then the Crosstrek at speed, but maybe a bit more wind noise? I have done maybe a 1,000 miles on the freeway and on roads 55+ and the Jeep is a comfortable cruiser.
      As the tires age I bet they will become a bit louder, but they are just fine so far. The only issue I would bring up is the little bit of vague steering on the highway. It seems to be a theme with late model Wranglers. It is hard to describe and isn't a big deal, but it is noticeable on the highway. I had the Jeep in for service and they ordered a new steering damper for it so it is a know problem and common from what it sounds like. It isn't something that really needs to be addressed, but it is noticeable. Happy to answer any other questions if you all come up with more. azdroptopyt@cox.net

    Is the big difference btwn the Willys and the Sport/S/Altitude the differentials/transfer case/shocks? where those other trims are more "road" focused and the Willys is more "off-road" focused; do I understand that correctly? Also, to be clear, you got the Willys and not the Willys Sport (cheaper of the two trims)...yes? Now on to your other Jeep videos...

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly do not know the difference between the Willys and the Willys sport. My understanding is that the Willys starts its life as a sport and they add the Willys package to it? I have read some stuff about the willys sport not having AC and a different bumper? Mine has AC standard and was not an option so not sure. I can send you a pic of my Window sticker if you are interested. email azdroptopyt@cox.net I am also not familiar with the Altitude and sport S sorry. Just went for the Willys :)

    Cool stuff! Nice drone footage. Do you think the roof insulated pads help road/wind noise? 👍👍😎🇺🇸

    • @AZdroptop
      @AZdroptop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much! Honestly I don't think road noise is massively different, but it does help a bit for sure. I think most of my wind noise comes from my mirrors, so no huge change there either. The biggest difference is blocking some of the radiant heat that comes in through the top...I like the look as well. There is less echo in the cab also...cuts down on the hollow sound that I had in there.
