      Agreed. I think the same about cooling systems and other components. No, you dont need the dilly-deluxe fancy “upgrade”. Your jeep is just old and tired, and new oem everything is perfectly fine for every jeep 95% of the time

    From the first couple minutes running with used oil and old oil pump to the final test with new oil, filter, and pump is a commitment to the quality content you are putting out. Props my friend. It wouldn't surprise me that the old pump just wore a .00001" on the little paddles causing it to not hold pressure at the lower RPMs and hot oil. Since you didn't find any other signs when you dropped the oil pan or inspected the filter. Keep up the great videos. Definitely a subscriber!

    GRATE job you know that lots of some the same problems can be fixed differently you can have 10 jeeps that are running bad and sometimes 10 different fixes will fix them you can have one with a skip plug a wire inside the distributor cap a coil head gasket bent valve broke valve springs bad plug boot bad wire to coil injector just so many things and you may have to come up with a crank sensor cooler heat shrink or just use your windshield washer to sprayer to cool it may have to run that wetter water in it and bigger tank cause sometimes you may not be able to get out to get water to pour on by yourself.....love to watch videos this is what I dofor a living also ..

    I used electrical tape to make sure the oil switch was always in the connector. I started moving it around and saw the oil pressure gauge in the dash start fluctuating. Oil pressure seems to read mostly accurate now that it’s not a loose wobbly connection. This video is making me wish I went with a high volume pump now, but the standard volume one is good !

  • @janetbrowder6685

    My 90XJ got great oil pressure until a shop talked me into replacing it when the shop was replacing the rear main seal and pan gasket. On way home from shop the pump failed and trashed the motor. The shop replaced it with a used engine, it never had good oil pressure it got about what that one did. BTW: I used that dump water on it with om 91MJ for awhile before I replaced the CPS too. That was in 99. 👍

  • @lincolnbliss4885
    @lincolnbliss4885 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I bought a rebuilt cherokee last year and the engine blew up on the drive home because the brand new oil pump in it died on the express way. When I mean died I mean instantly. The oil pressure tanked in less than a second and the check gages light came on and beeped at me. Immediately I pulled over and shut it off but it was too late. The motor was knocking from spun bearings. I put a different motor in it that I rebuilt myself so I knew what was in it. I used parts from Rockauto including the oil pump. The day I drove it for the first time after the swap the oil pump did the exact same thing. It began loosing pressure on the express way but not as fast this time. I watched the gage sink from 40psi to 12 over the course of 5 minutes so I turned around Immediately and started heading back. At idle the pressure dropped to 0 so I had to put it in neutral and rev it to keep the pressure up. I drove the rest of the way back in 1st gear to keep the revs up and when I got back I let it cool down. Then I fired it back up but this time the pressure spiked to 80 psi and stayed there at idle. I thought I was going nuts. There's no way I could have the same problem from 2 different motors. But it was the pump. The manual gage was reading over 200 psi and my oil filter exploded from the pressure. It turns out that the oil pump from the first motor was also from rockauto. They were the high end pumps too. I replaced the oil pump with a melling just like the one in your video and so far I've never had an issue. I'm not slamming rockauto they sell some great stuff but I'd personally never buy an oil pump from them again.

  • @user-mw2er7ol6j
    @user-mw2er7ol6j 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I put a nee engine in my cherokee and also put a melling hv oil pump in it and it did just like yours 65-70 at cold start 45-55 driving hot .after 3 years its back to 30 hot idling and maybe 45 -50 hot driving .so i believe it did help even with a new engine.i also had to massage oil pan .problem i had was on a steep incline after hv oil pump it was sucking pan dry and losing pressure. now i just run a extra quart in pan and everything is ok

    • @fastinradfordable
      @fastinradfordable 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Adding an extra quart creates maddd windage and probably froths the oil even if the pump isn’t sucking it dry.
      The moral of the story is: your engine is a system.
      And replacing one part of a system is a slap in the face for any engineering that took place.

    Have to remember with high volume oil pumps that it moves more oil, so unless you have a higher than stock capacity oil pan that you potentially will starve the engine of oil because alot of the oil won't have time to flow back down from the head to the oil pan.

    • @jerrywhalen2100

    I try to avoid high volume pumps if possible. It puts alot more stress on the distributor drive gears and can wipe out the cam. Especially with a parts store chinese distributor/gear. First thing I do with these is find a OEM drive gear at the junk yard.

But if you idle a motor for 3076 hours, even if you change the oil every 3000 miles on the 200k motor and every 500 hours on the idling motor, the 200k motor will be in MUCH better shape than the idling motor.

      I only use wix or mophar. I had the same experience with a fram coming unglued and causing a blockage like you.

      @@lincolnbliss4885 Had another friend that was noticing very low oil pressures in his truck. He was out of town and thought to just change the filter as I told him the FRAM filter sucks. Changed just the filter and oil pressures went back to normal.

    Volume doesn't equal pressure.its gpm is higher not the psi.same idea behind a commercial pressure washer at 900psi vs a cheap one at 1500psi.the commercial will flow more even at lower psi

      I get that argument but I feel there’s a lot of variables to account for.

    High volume shouldn't help low pressure
