      My daughter had her alert messaging set up on her Bof A account which notified her by text whenever a transaction took place with her debit card. On a Sunday evening she gets 5 CONSECUTIVE alerts showing that her card was used for over $700 in transactions in Florida and she lives in California. She immediately called the fraud alert number on the card and after being on the phone for a long time the Bof A representative told her that there was nothing that they could do even though the transactions had just occurred and were showing as PENDING. The bank literally allowed some thieves to steal money from an account holder and laid the burden of getting the money back, possibly, after jumping through a lot of hurdles. She had to empty out her account at Bof A as quickly as possible to avoid having all her money stolen all while the bank tells their customers they can't do anything about it. What good is having alerts and a fraud line if the bank can't stop a fraudulent charge? After doing some looking into and seeing so many others going through the same thing it's hard to imagine that they won't get sued at some point.

But the real problem happened after that. I got a replacement EDD card in 10 days but the account was frozen and I couldn’t activate it until I had their Fraud Department unlock it after hundred of calls to them. I had to wait for 2 hours, and my turn went back to the waiting line again after an operator put me on hold to check my account. They have a glitch and leave it unfixed. I learned that there are three steps as far as I experienced through hundreds of calls. A regular operator=>Risk Department to verify my identity,=>Fraud Department to unlock it. B or A has nothing to do with EDD, they use the bank to store the money that’s all . Disputes have to be brought the the attention of the merchant, B of A can not reverse or refund any charges !

    • @stephaniejames4940
      @stephaniejames4940 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These were not disputes, this was fraud. And yes they do credit certain disputes, conditionally, while trying to work with the merchant on your behalf.
      All their cases sound like fraud because no permission was given, and fake cards were made to withdraw the money.
      I've worked for Bank of America and Citibank.
      And these accounts are certainly treated differently then if it were your regular Bank of America account.
      Fraud and disputes are handled differently depending on if it were a credit card vs your debit card. One is their money, the other is yours. They always provide more protection on credit cards because it's the banks money, but when it's yours, those protections are not the same. Sadly.

    When you sign up for edd, you get sent all sorts of paperwork and the BofA debit card, account number and all that jazz. You need to go online and establish who you are, create credentials and once in the system they ask if you want to set up direct deposit into your personal banking system accounts. As soon as the money is funded into edd BofA from the state it's immediately transferred into your personal accounts you have chosen. I have done this, and the edd transfers have been flawless and on time. There is no need to use the edd debit card, no need to keep the money in that edd BofA account, IMO it's only existence is a convenient way to transfer the money to your personal banking accounts. Now my question/assumption is, are these people that are getting robbed/scammed out of their funds, are they the "underbanked" people with no ID, no bank accounts, and have no choice to use the edd BofA debit card as their primary banking vendor?

I only found out when I went online to check it. It is so hard to contact the claims department . 2 hours wait or more. I immediately call Bank of America Edd and reported it. Call the company to get the name and address where the food was delivered and file a police report. These criminals have no shame.
