From my understanding, if you run the manifold the other way, an hx40 down pipe will fit straight onto the factory exhaust. I really want to do this swap but keep the he351cw in my 06 5.9. I still also want to keep a waste gate so I can manage boost somehow. Don’t think anyone makes a spring gate that fits when turbo is in downward position.
Yes that is correct with manifold positioning, I believe I have seen some people do a second gen swap with an he351, I can see that being pretty easy to do maybe ad some length to the exhaust after the down pipe
Kinda gotta search Amazon, eBay, and rock auto to see what’s cheapest at the time just look for second gen manifold, hx40 or hx35, hx40 down pipe or flange, -6 90 to straight about 24 inches, -10 45 to straight, hx40 oil drain adapter to -10, cummins 24v block to -10, shorten the intercooler pipe, use a 45 degree 4 inch pipe for the air filter

Stainless turbo makes the spring gate to keep your factory turbo
Good job i have that same exhaust manifold but flipped around so i have access to the egt ports
