hey Matt i had a lucky day yesterday at the csx railroad in Maryland. on the back the freight train it had a coach trailing and i have a video of it here is the link th-cam.com/video/4HAuYIoz0GY/w-d-xo.html
That 7000 looks like one that was modified to run on the Strawberry Ridge. The shops notched the plows and sunk the PTC array into the cab, I think to do with height restrictions and the plow for passenger platforms.
Thanks Rowan, great that you know the territory so well. Good to see 9-1-1 - beautiful paintwork. Emergency responders are owed so much by the rest of us.
Nice catch! The cut plow usually indicates that they have equipped the unit to allow for operation in electric third rail territory. CSX has a lot of units with that set up here in the NYC area because they run trains into the Bronx via Metro North Commuter RRs Hudson Line, which uses third rail for its electric trains. I’m not sure why an NS SD60E would have it cut, I know conrail had some units with their plows cut for the same New York City service, so maybe this rebuilt SD60E was a conrail SD60 prior to rebuilding. Anyway, again, great video and catch!
@railfan rowan awesome shot of Norfolk southern 911 engine pushing keep up the good work my friend I enjoyed watching your videos and I went to horseshoe curve last Sunday on my birthday and I caught 2 Intermodal train and a coal train the second Intermodal train i caught had the Virginia heritage engine trailing
My 9 yr old enjoyed seeing and meeting you at Cresson this past weekend. Over the past 16 yrs I have been taking my sons all over the Altoona/Cresson/Cassandra area. So as we navigated around the area to our usual spotting spots...my son would say,,, oh, Rowan was here...Rowan was there...
I’m a little late lol but the different cut plow was for units modified for the Strawberry ridge coal trains after the 60Is were retired. Most of the mid 7000s got the treatment. Great video!
Great video Rowan! It's hanging out at the manassas yard which pretty cool and I am happy you caught it! God bless you and your family Rowan through this pandemic
yes very interesting, sometimes these defects can show up and cause speed restrictions shortly after or before an inspection will come through, they can happen quickly and not be detected at the time of scanning
Great Presentation, Rowan! You ALWAYS do such a fantastic job! Your videos always look super-sharp, and the audio is superb! I researched your camera and specs..Very Impressive! Do you use the camera's internal mic(s) it sounds fantastic! 👍👍👍
Nice catch rowan! Seen him once. One nice rs5t on 'em. Keep up the work! Btw look up NS 6943, hes a local in my area and his rs5t is a sweet fouled one. Let me know what you think about it.
Yes and you're not the only one to notice that, it's been like that since they replaced it a year and a half ago, that might explain why the trains don't fly through here as much anymore like they used to
Young man you keep up the good work and you stay safe the Lord's blessings be with you I give you an A+ job well done keep up the good work remember stay safe I always wear a mask no thanks to China
It has changed over the years, right now the rock loads for Chemung are on K85 I believe, and AM now, used to be on K91 at night, K94 does Martin Brower, Capitol Building Supply and anything at the B5.0, also there's a propane somewhere there, new industrial lots coming to Marshall
I wish I could be with you to see a NS heritage unit I'm mean I really want to see one. And where you do those videos I don't live to for from there. I actually live in near centerville. I also have a ho scale train layout with a few locomotives and three heritage units and looking for subscibers for my chanel
And, I might add...you might be onto something. Your videos are pretty cool. You generate excitement. There is sooo much history and hard work associated with the best rail network/system in the world. This could be a solid launching point for so many kids to get into engineering,,,tech,,etc. These videos are a draw for so many kids. Trust me. I know. I have been taking my kids out to this area for 15 yrs. Pointing out the history, the technical aspects...etc. But you are a draw. Good job.
You know it’s a good day when Rowan uploaded, espeacially when there’s a Heritage Unit.
Yes it is!

Heylo everybody!

That is one of my favorite engines that ns owns. I have a picture of my self standing next to 911. Good video rowan
Thanks awesome! I should take more pictures next to these things
Great catch of Norfolk Southern engine #911 on this two car-two engine freight. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Certainly an interesting catch thanks for watching
Nice video Rowan! That 2 car train looks kinda odd with the 2 sd60es. And 911 has got to be one of my favorite NS units, as I am a fire explorer.
Thanks Rowan, great that you know the territory so well. Good to see 9-1-1 - beautiful paintwork. Emergency responders are owed so much by the rest of us.

I knew why, I just forgot to explain on camera, but yes this is very interesting, it must have been an old Conrail
Thumbs up as usual, happy weekend!! 🚒🚑🚓
Thank you so much, happy weekend to you as well, happy foaming!!

That's so awesome brian, I'm so glad we were able to meet! Definitely be sure to check out the recap video I just posted maybe he's in it!!
I tried to include as many people as I could
I’m a little late lol but the different cut plow was for units modified for the Strawberry ridge coal trains after the 60Is were retired. Most of the mid 7000s got the treatment. Great video!
Better late than never, thank you Southern tier for that information!
A few weeks ago when I was traveling on Amtrak I saw the 911 unit in a small NS yard (it was probably Gainesville!) and I GEEKED out on the train 😂
Great video Rowan! It's hanging out at the manassas yard which pretty cool and I am happy you caught it! God bless you and your family Rowan through this pandemic
Thank you Mr Hatfield I really appreciate that sir, we are doing well and healthy, and yes it was a Manassas for about a month and a half

Thanks ECR appreciate the compliment
Railfan Rowan No problem! You deserve it!
Nice video! Got to love that heritage paint job Awesome Catch!
Thanks Gavin
Very crooked rail at 1:28 that causes a dip in the engine and following cars. Surprised that passes inspections.
Good on the 9-1-1 catch.
yes very interesting, sometimes these defects can show up and cause speed restrictions shortly after or before an inspection will come through, they can happen quickly and not be detected at the time of scanning
One of your best videos Rowan

The Rails coming out from under the Bridge were in Rough Shape by Class I Railroad Standards.
Yes and you're not the only one to notice that, it's been like that since they replaced it a year and a half ago, that might explain why the trains don't fly through here as much anymore like they used to
NS CM44AC and AC4400CW was by NS railroad
That along with the veterans unit are pretty sweet
Probably up there on my favorites for sure

Quickly becoming a favorite of mine too
Hey man! I have to ask you a question, how do you know so much about what and when the trains are coming and what camera equipment you use
Years of practice, and all equipment is in my descriptions so check out those helpful tips!!
I have the HO scale of that
That's super cool!
What’s K94 usually carry? I thought it was rock loads.
It has changed over the years, right now the rock loads for Chemung are on K85 I believe, and AM now, used to be on K91 at night, K94 does Martin Brower, Capitol Building Supply and anything at the B5.0, also there's a propane somewhere there, new industrial lots coming to Marshall
