What an awesome look back on the decade, Rowan. Let's hope that 2020 through 2029 treats us railfans a whole lot better and hope that this stupid PSR black cloud goes away to bring back all the trains, brother.
Funny, this came up in my suggestions a year later. I can't believe I didn't discover this channel until 2020! Lots of good scenes in here, might have to make my own 10 year video. Oh and I am jealous of your voice dude, I wish my commentary came out half as good. Can't wait to see what you bring us in the new decade.

Great that your mom supported your railfanning, as my mother did, and still does. I'm 52, and she is 73, and she flew in early for Thanksgiving to go along and chase UP 4014. My father always said he didn't understand the attraction my mom and I had for trains. LOL

That 6920 shot in front of the flag is amazing. Great shot of the OCS with 8099, I missed that one. Loved the 611 chase. Amazing decade for you sir!

I can hear it in your voice , and see it in your work . We're going to see a LOT more of your work in the future . Excellent audio and video . Don't worry about train meets , you 'll see plenty in what I hope to see a very long future for you and trains . You'll soon see that weather nor distance will make much if any difference . Excellent montage. I loved all the clips of the 611. It is one of my favorite steam engines. I am rather displeased with NS for discontinuing their steam program. Great video, though. Thanks for sharing!

An addition to your commentary! Those PRR units on the old N&W,isn't what most people expect and there a story there! The Pennsylvania owned the N&W for a period,and even rostered some ex-PRR, K-class 4-6-2's,so there are now several ties that bind! The real irony is that the N&W, runs the old PRR Pittsburgh division,and lines West,! How the mighty have fallen! By the way,you sound like me,when I was 15,and just getting my feet wet,as a rail fan,and now 60 years later,I've never stopped being that self same teenager. Man,I hope you never grow up,because you'll always be a student and always learning! One new thing a day,and think of a week,or a month. Knowing is a powerful force for good. 🚂🚄🚊🚍🚇🚆🚋

Would a foundation PLEASE stake Rowan so he can teach the adults how to professionally narrate films and videos; to speak coherently as reporters on TV; to likewise state positions and opinions as politicians, etc? His talent is being unassuming. I wish it were contagious.
I was about to question how you haven’t seen many rail meets until I heard you did not live near any double track lol
I was thinking the same thing, I live near Altoona, Pa and i regularly go up to the brickyard and see 2 sometimes 3 trains passing at the same time... not to mention seeing trains meet at Horseshoe Curve and Altoona Yard.

What an amazing journey and compilation of your videos. We love these and wish, like you do, that we could be riding along with the engineer in every train we watch. But we would be waving at railfans a lot more I imagine. Keep up the great work.
rowan what a nice compitulation of locos my dad since retired was an engineer on the Lackawanna Phoebe Snow E8 which will always be my favorite engines

Australia still operates those streamliners at 1:30 on short haul grain lines. I love the old 2 strokes

The Norfolk and Western 611 at 1:50, reminds me of back to the future part 3 when Doc comes back just after the DeLorean gets destroyed on the tracks.
Norfolk and western 611 sure does look like the same train from back to the future

In the future the 611 might come back to Strasburg railroad pa for more of the 475 Norfolk and Western. I will keep you up to date on if it will come up here again.

I can only say PERFECT VIDEO ! loved everything about it, I'm happy you explained where you were and why these clips were your favorite. I remember being in old town in the pouring rain, you got a better shot than I did. :-))
My catch of the decade was big boy 4014. I am from Tennessee and when 4014 came through Kansas (which I have visited there many times) it was a school weekend. I was only able to catch it four times due to heavy traffic from fellow railfanners

I seen the norfolk southern brick train in irondale Alabama while railfanning it was so awesome
It was on December 14th a few minutes before Norfolk southern 4000 I didn't have a railfan scanner

2511 was rebuilt into SD70ACC 1851 and put back into service last month.
Railfan Rowan better to be rebuilt than scrapped.

Amazing catches. You just got yourself one new subscriber. And i gotta say, 2019 I got to ride behind N&W #611 in Strasburg on one of her excursions. She is one beautiful engine. I would kill for an experience like that again.

Hey Railfan Rowan I live in VA as well (Fredericksburg area). My aunt lives in Catlett. When I was kid when I was with my granddad up in Lorton I would go to the parking area by the auto train startion and wait and watch trains go by

Tell me about it catching a Heritage unit only one year old would be an catch any day for me it’s sad NS doesn’t keep their Heritage units clean anymore it just sucks
It costs money to clean them. Money the company cant afford to spend. Mike Farrell doesn't care about railroad heritage. He cares about precision. All heritage units will probably be replaced within the next 5 years. They're all just junk now.
Most US railroads are notorious about not keeping freight locos(which is pretty much all there is, 98%) clean. It does not help their bottom line.
@@tuccimane That is sad, because it is probably true, and the K5LLA's are all so fouled and gross sounding when they used to sound so nice and cool! And now the paint on the locos look like crap, too.

Another great place to catch train is Clifton VA. Trains pass by the old freight depot now repurposed, I’ve seen Amtrak, VRE, CSX, & NS

I only managed to see UP 1988 in 2016 but at the time I wasn't on TH-cam and I failed to see the 3 Special CSX engines
I actually got to see Norfolk Southern railroad 6920 in person in Tuscaloosa Al at the Amtrak train station
