Maybe stuff a couple of black foam pieces around it to fill the gaps just to take off the bit of wind noise it occasionally picks up and it'll be ideal.
For good audio just use a Sony idc x333 digital audio recorder with neewer lapel mic and use that audio when editing. A good way to lineup the recorded audio file to your video file is to clap or cough three times at the stat of recording, as your match up point. The recorder and mic is only $60 on eBay.
I'd pay good money for a helmet with an integrated "dash cam" right in the position where you mounted this goPro. With all the aftermarket action cam helmet rugs you'd think Shoei. Arai, etc would produce one. Vloggers and insurance companies would love it. Yeah, I've seen the scully helmet. I'm talking about a much more simple(cheaper) concept like the one in this video but from the factory.
Just picked up the session tonight to add to my kit for some projects coming up next week! The quality looks great in your video! Did you enhance much in post-production? Nice edit by the way!
Cal Moto I thought my Hero 3+ was dead so started looking at the 4. Now I've managed to fix it so will stick with with 3+ for a short while. Thanks for the reply.
you should take it to the next level and make fiberglass piece to go aroud the camera and clean it up and paint it. then patent it and sell it to a helmet maker, or you make them if not some one else might, its perfect. I know I'd buy one in a heartbeat. untill then ill keep mine under the peak.
YOU SHOULD TAKE THIS VIDEO OFF TH-cam IMMEDIATELY. Someone is going to steal this idea. You need to present this to a helmet manufacturer as an option since so many riders use GoPros all the time. You already have a working prototype. EXECELENTE!
It's a cool idea, however you know why they don't put a gopro inside helmets at the factory? Cause what you cut out is needed for structural integrity of the helmet, I hope you don't get to test this helmet, if you do I wouldn't count on keeping your teeth.
I didn't realize that the flimsy pop out plastic piece on the grill constituted "structural integrity". I can see the camera being pushed back and possibly causing injury in a rare situation, but there's a lot of space there.
aah ok, my bad, I thought that the jaw protector was a complete one unit and you just cut it all out, if you just replaced it than I guess it's not as terrible. I would still bet you'd rather not be forced to swallow the session :P
Cal Moto Making modifications that compromise the safety structure of a moto helmet. It probably doesnt matter in states that you dont need to wear a helmet tho.
I removed the mouth guard screen. The opening accommodated the device without modifying any part of the helmet construction. Because the camera replaces the screen/protective filter, I think I'm okay, legally speaking. The fact that I ko'd myself hitting a tree wearing that lid is a whole separate issue. It's not a usable helmet.
+systemicxdesing I've got four patents and I will not pursue another:)....too expensive and time consuming. I'm putting it out there for public consumption! Go for it.
Interesting cam and great mounting! Also love the way you mounted the pretty lawn decoration on the way back!
+The Crumble Girls just wanna have fun.
I love the carnage on the landscaping! Right on!
The wind noise is a bit much, but the angle looks pretty darn good. Very clever.

+Matt W Yes, I think that might do it.

I don't know why helmet manufactures haven't created a standard for mounting helmet cams. Something like a picatiny rail would be awesome.
I'm going to use your short cut next time I ride to dealership.
+Darrell N See you soon.
really smart Call. .. want one 😀

+HazardSports Nice! I did no post production work other than a couple of clips. Enjoy the camera.
+Cal Moto thanks! Sounds good!
What's the battery life like on this camera. Thanks.
+Sky Rider I haven't run it flat yet; but, I'd guess at 60-90 minutes.

+Sky Rider 120 minutes at 1080p 60fps ;D
cool mount where's your dealership located?
+Ray Hill East Bay / Tri Valley.
tell about ipod mounted on the helmet please. how is it mounted and what speakers are used?
A spot of Velcro keeps it solidly in place. Tork helmet speaker pump 500 of my favorite tunes into my head.
thanks!

what do you record in?
1080/60
thanks, some people say to film pov in 1440 would you recommend that?
Not for me. Because I upload everything, it just takes too long and everyone on TH-cam watches in 720 or less anyway.
good point thank you :)
muito top em amigão adorei o te vidio
What happens if you fall on your chin or something? Can it slide in far enough to damage your teeth or something?
+Renzsu There's plenty of room in my Klim.
Hey I got a GoProhero5️⃣ session and I took off the side door so I want to add a mic u think I can and nice ktm
You'll have to figure out how to wire it in yourself if it's possible. Let me know if you find a way.

what helmet
Klim F4
Dude you should patent the shit outta this. make a helmet with built in action cam and mic yo!
I'd put tape over the front mic
That sounds right; simple and effective. I'll try it.
Did it work?

For sure, but better than swallowing a Hero 4 ;)
touché ;)
Thats illegal in a lot of states.
What is?

Perfeito!!
@Cal moto...Jump on that patent before one of your viewer's do!!!!!!

They've made it difficult ....most end up selling their patent anyways,,,,,money to be made!
Maybe a little piece of scotch tape over the mic.
+Curt8153 I'll give it a shot.
I haven't tried that yet. I'm going to buy one here myself.
Now that's one ugly helmet! No offense; function over form!
If the Foo shits, wear it;)
