      Dr joe i have a question i am hairdresser and I had a de quervains on my tumb but with your videos now i a good helped me a lot. Soon I will work again can u please advise me what vitamins or pills should i take for my problem because I want to prevent earlier, and sometimes i feel very little pain. If you know also what kind of scissors should I use. Tnx

    I think I need this. I saw this tik tok of this girl doing a gluteus medius "simple" stretch/exercise. I tried it and instantly cramped up. I couldn't even get into position without cramping up. And I've had pain around the area sometimes if I stand weird/for a while (it's hard to explain and I don't completely understand it) so here I am lol

    CONGRATULATIONS! You are the first medical person in years that I have seen who can conjugate, and properly use, the verb "LIE." Excellent information as I am recovering from a torn gluteus medius tendon! Best of luck!

    Wow, I had right hip replacement surgery a few months ago and I need these for my poor weak glutes and that muscle is the weakest. As soon as I tried the plank, I got a Charlie horse in my outer upper thigh on operated side. So I know how much work I have to do to strengthen everything! Thanks so much!

    Dr. Jo, kudos and thanks for some great exercises. I am hoping to reverse my Trendelenberg gait. I have made a list of about fifteen exercises for these glute medius and minimus, but especially appreciate these because I am not able to perform many of the others. I am doing some now but I intend to run these past my PT as I am rehabbing from an L2 x S1 laminectomy. I appreciate your warmth and personality. Thanks.

    Question: Are there any exercises which isolate the Gluteus Medius in a way that exclude the gluteus minimus (like maybe abducting at a slight angle which activates one the glute medius much more than the minimus)? Or is it basically impossible to separate these two muscles functionally?

    My buttocks n glute muscles are paining.
    So how do I start with ur exercises.
    Yeaterday I did some exercises..today my pain is too much.
    Shd I take ultrasound...before doin ur suggested exercises.

    I’m feeling a tightness on the inside of my knee at the deep end of a squat. It’s not so much “painful” as it is uncomfortable and unusual.
    I noticed it happened just after weighted reverse lunges. Was just wondering if you’d do a video on some stretches for that kind of problem.

    Thank u doc! QUESTION: G.medius internally rotates the him how then does the Clamshell strengthen this muscle? The reverse Clamshell makes good sense per G. medius strengthening. Grateful for your response. ty!

      The anterior portion internally rotates, but the posterior portion of Gluteus medius abducts the hip, and also assists in lateral rotation of hip.

      You're welcome. A general warm up of 2-3 minutes can be helpful. As far as times per day, therapeutic exercises can be done 1-3 times a day.

    Hey doc i have a over pronated right foot not sure wht but also my right glute muscle aches at times along with the outside thigh muscle. Not sure if the weakness of the muscles caused the over pronation or the opposite. But im going to try to work on strengthening those muscles and the rest of my body. Where are you located??

    I couldn't even resist my physical therapist when she tested my strength of the muscle.......
    Only 3 excercises for me for now
    (Been having knee swelling if I tried to run)

    Should you do this if you have hip arthritis and SI joint/low back arthritis?

      Unfortunately, I don't know that answer since I can't evaluate you. Everyone is different. If there is any way you can see a physical therapist in person, they should be able to help you figure out a specific program for you and help answer your questions.

    I used to sit for prolonged duration, then all of sudden I started going for jog, doing some basic warm up exercises, 4 days later I started feeling pain in my lower back whenever I am bending. So does this exercise help to get rid of pain?

    Do these stretches by chance help with sciatica? I tend to get this sore pain in my thigh so it’s hard to lay on my left side or even after I bowl I get a sore pain in the same area. I was told by somebody that has the same pain that it is sciatica

    How many reps do you do on these exercises. For example is it 12 reps 3x. I know you said the first exercise is to hold as long as you can. Tx for all you do.
