Maya 2025 is finally here, with an impressive roster of 3D modeling improvements. Many of the tools and features build on the updates from 2024 to dramatically improve the speed at which you create and iterate 3D models.
While Testing the new 3D modeling tools, I took on a complex hard surface model challenge. Surprisingly, these tools helped me finish much faster and even changed my 3d modeling workflow.
In this video, I’ll break down the Maya 2025 3d Modeling Updates in 5 minutes.

That smart extrude is something I've been wanting in maya for yearssss. In the days of Google sketchup this was the standard (albeit not as topologically smart) and always missed having such basic and useful feature.

Smart extrude is one of those features that should have been in Maya a very long time ago, and as someone who's still relatively new to 3D modelling, that's exactly how I would expect it to work, but quickly learnt that it doesn't.

@@MartyRxMurdeRz the reply is necessary because for hard surface, i think the whole industry is wasting its time on its primitive thinking "All quads" that is not true as per current technology because at the end only final shading of the model matters which works for 90% times when you are not going for deformation/physics on it, for that you can always retoplogise your model either automatic or manual and that will give you better control over your previously built toplogy while struggling for all quads as you have a complete shape on which you can retopologise easily with control over your edgeflow.
Even the greatest master of 3ds max (Arrimus3d) hybrid his workflow to max+plasticity so why i shouldn't tell this to everyone. just see his youtube channel and you will know the mastery he get in HardSurface.

Blender isn't Heavy duty, it can't perform a Gargantuan amount of heavy load of over the top movie vfx.
Maya had to make sure that everything will run smoothly in the worst case scenario,
therefore everything is much more optimized for heavy duty.
while Blender don't give a F about that, everything is implemented faster but sloppy
