Nice. Love it. I am currently switching from Max to Maya and i am glad to see the Bevel filtering affecting only the hard edges update, i was missing it from max where you can just plop a chamfer modifier on the whole object and select it to affect the edges based on the smoothing groups. And that Smart Extrude looks absolutely stellar
I was happy when 3ds max 2022 came with smart extrude feature some years a go. Man it so handy feature at that time. Suddenly i move into new studio that use maya, and i must use traditional extrude back :D ... I'm so relief when Autodesk finally adopt 3ds max's smart extrude to maya. Good job
Great additions, as far as modeling improvements, these have all been in 3ds Max for quite some time already, this will definitely improve the Maya experience
It seems to me that even with smart extrude, you'll have to reconnect loops if your topology requires it. So, wherever you use it the edge flows up until that point will be broken. Unless I`m missing some option.
are you able to make animations using nCloth or using dynamics with maya 2025? i can't. maya only renders the first frame for the whole sequence. im using arnold. Any advice? i called autodesk and they haven't figured it out either. :( so frustrating.
Smart extrude does really ups the game, but what about the constant crashing never addressed! I am working now on switching to blender, Maya it's too left behind and unstable...
Its nice but too few updates tbh. Imagine a complete hypershade overhaul, xgen, fx, ncloth. Maya is great at implementing stuff but then completely forget about them. They could make such a class leading app if they truly wanted. Why do we need nodes in the hypershade like ainormalmap just to have a normal map work properly? Ailayershaders, layertextures etc instead of just a universal merge node with standard merge operations? They could streamline it all alot and make it both faster and more user friendly.
Take your "here before blender users start trash talking" ticket 😊 After this new update, i can confirm that blender users are gonna troll maya users and trash talk even more than before while stammering on industry standard topic😂

Honestly absolutely meh for 2250€/year , autodesk is "upgrading" its software with features that already exist years ago in other better and cheaper softwares
@@OnMars3Dtoo bad because already for direct modeling Maya has more modern goodies than Max like the Multicut or the Circularize tool and the live symetry. These combined with smart extrude would definitely get an edge over 3ds MAX for those eorflow

This is beyond lazy. Every year we get some small chunks of code Autodesk call updates but the main problem with Maya is the ancient UI and even more ancient base code. Maya is slow, inefficient and crashes alot. If AD wants it to survive (which I doubt) it needs to be rewritten from the ground up. But I don’t think AD is capable of doing that. Maya is still around just because it’s deeply rooted in the workflows around the world. And change happens slowly.

They should add an "o" on every tweak. Boooooooooooooooooooooooooleans.

True
Yeah, I was happy to use these updates, definitely a big improvement!
Smart extrude looks pretty sweet!!
It is, it's like magic!
@@OnMars3D Now if they could only add "Dynamic placement" like in Cinema 4D, that would be sweeter.

Some nice new tools! Thanks for the video 👌
Happy to share!
Loooovingggg ittttt 🤩 the new updates are really awesome!
Yeah, this has been a great update!
It's nice to see that they've finally done something worthwhile for solid modeling
OMG! 🤩 Why it took them sooo long.
Only thing we need now is good live mirroring on objects
Bevel filtering is already on Blender (Plus Hardops) for a while but still ... it looks so much more professional on Maya.
Great update on the Maya 2025 features!

That's correct, you will still have to connect those edges.
Oh boy, this is exciting 🎉
Smart extrude is a big Win, but adding 2-3 new features per year....is a very big Lose
an excellent choice, to move in 4-5 years. But not for the latest version, because not all plugins are ready
One of the best updates you missed is the ability to assign materialx shaders to maya geometry with lookdevx, so goodbye hypershade 🎉
Oh really 😲
Thx for information
Wonderful !!!

the new bevel workflow seems very convoluted still compared to 3ds max one
3ds Max is a nightmare, worse to use than Blender

🎉❤❤ maya
Cool
@OnMars3D is there a way to set the new smart extrude function to your shift+drag like normal extrude?
Nah smart extrude calculate your uv of object without disturbance
Not right now, it only works through the menu or marking menus
Boolean creates NGons how can i prevent that or fix them. Because of that i dont use it
You'd still have to clean it up but it would still be faster than traditional modeling methods
Ohhh catching up to Blender 2.9 ...except the latest release of Blender is 4.2

i just want to see a proper fill hole pls autodesk
This
Just use scripts. GN quad fill hole is great for the more simple cases, for everything else Bridge Pro speeds up things a lot.
I wish it support greenscreen for vfx
Maya needs live snap to faces..snap to faces currently in maya doesnt actually line up, or go to the same angle, rotation of face
still no grid fill 😡
There is scripts for that
look up "quad patcher" by 3D artist dad. It's free to use. Closest we'll get for now.
I wonder how many time maya will crash now when using the new features in modeling
This is definitely good news but it would be better to give us May 2025 download link thank you so much
