I was waiting for this review. Excellent. Most importantly as a fan of action and Team Ninja, you gave the game the reverence and respect of at least peeling back some gameplay layers, time to let some of it sink in, and showing understanding of them and the value they bring to the game itself(on its own two feet). None of that pumping out a misrepresented/scrubquotes review - wink wink(I'm sure you know). As positively expected, from someone else who holds FF Origin in as high respect as Nioh 2 as an action game. These games deserve the deep dives into their mechanics, and that's a neverending journey. Ronin is already climbing. There's already some tech coming out. I dont even know how I originally found this channel a year or so ago, but I'm glad I did, you show a level of love of just enjoying the types of games you love(it's rare somehow). Reminds of ThorHighHeels. Also special shoutout to your Agents of Mayhem video, I wish Volition had gotten a shot at a sequel to iterate.
Just wow It always blows me away how my stuff really does reach the right ppl n actually leaves you guys looking forward to some of my thoughts. It really does mean a lot to me you've tagged along for the ride - thank you I try my best to really give it a fair shake - the best I can anyways haha! N when it comes to team ninja you already KNOW I'm always there to give em the benefit of the doubt since they've made some of my favorite games ever. But sadly I know ppls confidence in them is shakey to say the least even w their strong track record Definitely definitely, I make these for the pure passion for it all yknow. I'm not worried about views or anything like that. I just Really want to deep dive into a genre I really enjoy that doesn't get this lvl of care from most. But I know our genre n this amount of detail is niche but I'm glad to be doing it for those looking for it Yooo that game is pretty fun! Always heard negative things but thats far from the truth. Just goes to show you should always play it for yourself if possible
@@o_uwu_o absolutely, and I feel your channel will grow even more, when others relearn their own passion for these games, and games in general. I've noticed in all of your videos, you show a level of respect for what every game brings to the table, and searching for what appeals to you within them, even in games you don't rank as highly as others. There is A LOT of meat in action games, and you gotta have the fresh and open mind to dive in and dig deep - cause they all got something appealing. Also with Team Ninja though, it's easy though cause we already looking, and their action games can take years before people start really finding and grasping emergent nuances, they didn't see during the first few weeks/months/playthroughs. Not to sound corny, but it's just a great enlightened feedback loop. And energy like that, got me just enjoying the ever loving shit out of every game I play(action or not), and I had to share, to keep it going for you and anyone else reading this.
@@orangemegaslide yup exactly right! Even if it's not the tippy top or something. I can still have some good fun w alot of these action games bc I really do appreciate what they're going for. Being able to have that wider range to try something new lets you enjoy your genre a whole lot more yknow N ooooh yea team ninja games only get more n More wild as time goes on. Like after making this video I found out you can do bloodborne gun parries that Completely stop entire enemy combos - that's WAY too cool! Just lil stuff like that is pretty fun to find out when you give things a chance n experiment a bit Naah It's not corny at all. More ppl should be hyped to share what they like about gaming! It passes on to someone else n hopefully they'll do the same. We can use more that I appreciate that. The channel is our lil hidden treasure trove of stuff but its reach has been growing bit by bit n bringing in some great ppl I'll say that
@@o_uwu_o I feel you 100%. And there's something to learn and appreciate from all games we play, even totally unrelated ones. There's just so much value, in simply enjoying things. Also, more on the game, to add to what you said about the side arm: We can evade in the gaps of strings enemies do, to expose their back through positioning, instead of waiting for counterspark opportunities. Some styles/stances are better for this than the usage of their specific counterspark - since many styles have different dodge/evade options, some creating insane space. Many of the nastiest strings have weak sides you can move to. Often times, the punishes you can get are greater with causing the whiffs, instead of using the counterspark for the parry. I've seen criticism for the game being too "parry centric", but counterspark is really just giving the player another answer to threats, in our bag, as old conventional answers still apply(like tried and true spacing or s). Just like with SoP FF Origin's many answers. Blade flashes of course have you recover from all actions faster than not doing them(similar to ki pulse), and can also be done after countersparking an attack, as well as after critical hit "grapples". So you can strike and follow up or punish far sooner than if you did not. Martial skills can also CANCEL blade flashes, and can cancel them before you clean the blade - earliest frames you skip the blade flash animation entirely. This means you can rapid fire many martial skills to create intense pressure. To include: after knocking an enemy to the ground, can keep them PINNED to the ground. Put long block stuns on enemies stuck in the corner, etc. Ki Blaze activation can save you while being winded on zero ki. There are hidden moves that have been discovered through stance/style pre switching, including a 'real' flying swallow(outside of the grappling hook one and the oxtail air counterspark). Might be moves TN adds later, here's hoping. Most of our attacks have much more reach than you might realize. Less stubby normal buttons. We can stuff many enemy types before the superarmor frames.
Dudeeeeee we need more videos of this format on TH-cam for video games! Everytime I watch a review/video essay not everyone goes in depth explaining how deep the combat can go as much as you can. Keep it up dude! I found your yt channel perfect for binge watching
Maaan I know that feeling all too well. Its the main reason I wanted to do this since many didn't go into things as much as I'd like. But hey glad the channel found its way to you! Hope you enjoy the other stuff too
Not sure if you do requests, but I’d be really curious to get your take on Double Dragon Neon. It seems like a fun time, but the mechanics also seem a bit light.
@@o_uwu_o Awesome. And as a personal recommendation, I’d suggest checking out River City Ransom: Underground. It has my favorite combat system out of any 2D brawler, plus 10 playable characters.
Hmmm I think it'll be more on the easier side. Doont get me wrong tho It's Still a team ninja game haha so it'll ask a bit more from you than most games but the fact it's an open world game w lots of side activities to lvl up from. You can definitely ease into the swing of things at your own pace which is nice
I was really skeptical about this one after Wo Long didn't click with me but it sounds like I should pick this up later in the year. DD2, Ronin, Sand Land, it almost looks like I like open world ARPGs.
Yooo that's awesome you'll check it out sometime! N oooh yeah I might be seeing a pattern here too Well lets hope youll get some more this yr - fingers crossed
Ooooh I like how you noticed that! Okok, let's just say we're going full circle w our next video. Not this weekend sadly but I have a strong feeling for the following 1
Hmm first thing that comes to mind is to play a bit more patient yknow. Maybe toss out 1 or 2 atks n back off w a martial skill that retreats or using those shuriken cancels too right? Just anything to keep enough space to see what every1s doing sorta thing. Hopefully that helps but I know you got this!
You can pull an enemy out with grappling hook, then jumping grappling hook the one you didn't, to close in on them. Raw you land in front, attacking while hooking in you flying swallow past them, so choose to stay in front or behind. If enemies guard the grappling hook, try throwing a shuriken or shoot the side arm first to bait the dodge and punish the dodge with the grappling hook. Counterspark parrying in a clump, can reduce max ki of the clump of enemies. Poisoning, burning, or paralyzing a single enemy with affliction wave will hit stun the entire group and apply the status to them all. Earthen balls with flash bang or fire. Rifle and arrow head shot kills cause enemies to panic and cower. You can also apply poison or fire to arrows. Against a cowering enemy, switch lock on to new target and hold R2 to grappling hook toss the cowering enemy into the new enemy. Any small time enemy that is in cowering state, HOLD triangle/T for the critical (instead of tapping), for instant kill(from the skill tree) that can cause onlookers to take heavy max ki damage, panic or cower. There is also a setting in options to be able to attack in other directions, while still locked on to another enemy.
Ooh yeayea sry about the confusion. I just really like ninja gaiden so I wanted to use it for thumbnails in some way. Then it hit me how perfect 3RE would be for a template since it had the right amount of free space to fit the lil edits is all
