Twelve months ago I hadn't ever watched a single running race over 400m. Thanks to this channel I have an interest in every race distance and am familiar with a lot of the athletes.
I just started yesterday and have been binge watching. Not only have I learned about all these amazing athletes and getting ready to start running again after a long break. I'm hoping to participate in competitive events as well as I improve. I've always loved running and this channel has brought back that passion.
11:56 Glad you mentioned it - he basically broke the 15k world record by 2 seconds and then ran a further 6.1 kilometers to also break the half marathon world record! Simply astonishing and hard to put into words, what an incredible performance he showed in Copenhagen! And all that at the age of 26! Maybe he will be the first person to break the 2 hour marathon in real world conditions. Only time will tell...
According to an IAAF article about the record, he actualy splitted 41:05 for the 15km and 27:34 for the first 10km instead of 41:03 and 27:32, and therefore equalled cheptegei's record and didnt broke it
He set the world record on a day in Copenhagen where it was quite windy and also a little bit of rain. The temperature was also a little on the warm side. This makes the 58:01 just even more amazing!!!
Awesone video as always. He looks like such a beast when he runs. Man i wish to see Geoffrey and Eliud run a marathon side by side in the future.. could you just imagine the time, holy moly
As a former street race runner, his speed, at 4;24 a mile, is absolutely flying. Average runners would be sprinting full out to even stay up with him for a few yards. The sub 2 hour marathon just got set recently as well... records no one thought would be broken.
Well, I guess Kamworor merits an "Analyzing the Greats" after watching this. I take it there are 3 running hot sports in Kenya: Iten, Eldoret and Kaptagat. Gotta love those Kalenjin.
He will break 58 Good runners use their hip strength These are small powerful muscles that dont eat up all your energy His form is beautiful to watch so smooth relaxed
Thanks for at great video! As a spectator to the Copenhagen halfmarathon, I just want to mention the weather conditions as very windy and raining many places. And it was almost, as if the pacers where holding him a little bit back from 9-10 kilometers (as he had planned to follow them until 10k). Wonder what time he would run without rain and wind and with pacers for at least 15k.
Kamworor is a beast... what an amazing accomplishment!!! Now we just need to see Kipchoge break 2 in the marathon, even if it's not official. This will be a great year for running!!!
5:41 to 5:50 i can barely believe my ears, a 13 flat 5k after 15km of running. that is INCREDIBLE. edit: this is an excellent video all round, you've got a new subscriber.
It's one of the most impressive surges in distance running history in my opinion. Absolutely incredible. To put it into perspective, that's only 2 seconds away from his 5k PR, so you know he has much more to give on the 5k
I truly like Geoffrey a lot - his charisma, his running style, his humility and hard work ethic - will be the worthy & rightful king of the marathon once Eliud Kipchoge retires.
Jeffery kamworor is world class true and true I never get tired watching true athletes at their best who put their heart and soul into their career .Jefferey is gifted
2:01:00 sounds awfully fast but who knows, Kipchoge has stated several times that kamworor will take over after him. But that time must come in a fast marathon, Berlin or maybe London so New York is not possible for that. But Kamworor got many years left, will be interesting to see the future of road racing... :) Also, I uploaded the full race on youtube and just wondered if you used the video? Not because I am asking for credit or something but it would be cool to know if my uploads are useful for others!
1:59:40 Also Berlin conditions were pretty bad and he ran alone the second half. +He negative split it Im confident That Kipchoge can go 2 hours flat or 1:59 in an official race
A few months ago Kamworor also made a new record at the Bern Grand Prix here in Switzerland, "the World's Most Beautiful 10 Miles", a race that includes parts in the forest and along the river Aare, which eventually becomes the Rhine. My girlfriend (at the expectators line) got footage of him: amazing :) ! I wish I had seen him too but the medal ceremony took place while I was still racing :P hehe
In 2011 Geoffrey Kamworor paced the Berlin Marathon where Patrick Makau set a world record. Haile Gebreselassie who also raced that race said afterwards he believes Kamworor will brake the (marathon) world record in the future simply because of HOW this young athlete was pacing the race already. The pros can tell...
12:50 This picture won't be forgotten. Two WR holders as a training partners is just incredible. Looking forward to see them go SUB 2:00 Marathon and SUB 58:00 Half Marathon 😯
As i say, grinners are winners. A happy positive approach to life transfers to physical abilities. It may not make u the best but u will be content in doing your best while striving to do even better, and your body will heal and respond better.
Who the hell are the "marathon predictors" you're referring to at 12:59? Given that he broke his personal best in the half marathon by 53s and assuming that he can replicate the performance in the marathon, his best bet would be breaking his personal best in the marathon by 1m and 46s. This would put him at 2:04:26. Besides, his last major marathon was 2:10:53. Thinking that he can run a 2:01:00 in the foreseeable future is ridiculous!
a little outrageous. but not rediculous... Seeing as he ran that pace for the 1/2, if he trained more towards the full marathon, he definitely has the same limits as kipchoge... which is no limit ; )
Course matters too. New York, where he ran 2:10:53 is a very slow course, whereas Berlin where Kipchoge ran 2:01:39, is extremely fast so that’s also a factir
He is 26 years old and already ran a 2:06 over 7 years ago, when he was only 19. Marathons typically require vasts amounts of patience and discipline, which is why experienced runners dominate that discipline. At a young age, runners focus more on 5K, 10K and half marathons to 1) get experience under their belts and 2) take advantage of the sprinting speed they have while still young and strong. If Kamworor stays healthy, continues to gain experience, and continues to learn from Kipchoge, he can very well run under 2 hours and 1 minute for the marathon. Perhaps even go under 2 hours. Again, he is only 26 and has a decade to focus on marathon running.
His a specialist in half marathon , full marathon is something different. Given his personal best being 2.06 which he set way back in 2012 I don't see him jumping 7 minutes
@@Themanhimself-o1h Now that he has the world record in the half marathon, he might be hungry to train for the full marathon. Would also assume the gap between him and Kipchoge is getting smaller and smaller since he's still an up and coming runner who trains with the best. Probably couldn't beat him now, but give another 2-3 years and he could be the GOAT of long distance running unless Kipchoge just keeps going further ahead.
I think that the EOS1:59 would be far more interesting if Geoffrey and Eluid were racing together. I personally believe competition drives adrenaline and if they were on pace with 5K to go who knows how fast they could finish. Racing only a clock doesn't provide the same rush.
