Just curious, is Orlando Speed World your home track? Also did you happen to tow the Tesla with a electric SUV by chance? My wife and I go to the Night of Thunder race every year down there and we met a super nice gentleman who raced a blue Tesla and hauled it to the dragstrip with a electric SUV. That is the reason for this question. We are from Ohio and tow her Dodge Challenger 360 to that race. If you aren't the guy, I apologize. I subscribed to your channel anyhow cause you have a lot of great content. God bless and thanks for sharing 👍
@@dano7480Thanks, but we rarely race OSW. (We’ve raced there a half dozen days.) Rather we are at Bradenton and Showtime every week, as they are much closer. Although we’ve owned a Model X Plaid, we didn’t use it to trailer a car. Interesting that someone would tow a Tesla as there is a Supercharger nearby, and the ETs are the same at 100% vs 95%. In fact, the worst thing anyone could do to the battery is charge it up high and then not drive it. One guy did that from the Miami area to OSW, in a hot enclosed trailer, and now he can’t understand why his car is slower. (Tesla specifically says not to do this.) So it would seem better to drive to the charger near OSW, then charge to 95-99%, then drive it to the track and race right away. Thats what we always did, and our Plaid still runs 9.1-9.2s in good conditions, even after over 900 passes in almost 3 years 😃 Thanks for your comment 👍
They might not have towed it, this was several years ago and I'm really not sure but I think the model X was white. I only been to OSW for the Night of thunder races and the test n tune day before. I believe the gentleman had glasses and I thought the model X was parked on the other side of tower or close to the tower. Maybe I'm mistaken. I have watched the races on MotorMania and from Florida and sure looked like same car. Great vid Andrew. That 1st Demon race was fun to watch. I really like Thomas's Demon. Cool car. The Plaid really is great competition for these guys. Greg is sure getting a good handel on the COPO,
Absolutely! From the RACEBMP website: 13.99 or quicker must have Snell 2010 and above helmet. Fire jacket mandatory 11.99 and quicker, fire jacket, pants and gloves mandatory 9.99 and quicker or exceeding 135 mph. Neck collar mandatory in all cars running 9.99 or quicker or exceeding 135 mph. Valid NHRA competition license mandatory for cars running 9.99 (*6.39) or quicker. Valid state or government‐issued driver’s license beyond a learner’s permit level mandatory for cars running 10.00 (*6.40) or slower. Although they rarely check for the NHRA license for TnT nights, there’s no reason not to get all the other items which can be purchased on Amazon for about $600 total. Safety is nothing to scrimp in, especially for a new racer. But may I suggest…
For your first dragstrip passes, I’d highly recommend starting at Showtime. They have open TnT every Wednesday 6-10pm and for $30 you can learn how to stage, launch, and run a dragstrip. It’s just 1/8th Mile so you’ll run 120MPH which is a whole lot less deadly than 150MPH. You’ll still need that helmet and fire jacket, plus long pants (never shorts) but they aren’t too strict on gloves, fire shoes and collar. (I use them every race because it’s still prudent.) It’s a great place to learn and practice a tree, as you won’t be waiting 60-90 minutes between runs. You can easily make a dozen or more runs instead of just 3 to 5 😃

We’ve never heard a peep from that guy. The ONLY callout has been from Greg Mannarino to him. Greg called him out a while ago and he’s still ducking! He continues to ignore that callout that was made before hundreds of thousands of people on Greg’s Channel. Why is he ducking a 100% stock COPO with his MODIFIED Demon? Why does he only go after cars that he knows his ET can beat? 🤔 Why does he hide his ETs? (Obviously to hide the extent of his modifications.) Sounds like chump strategy to us 😃
I’m certainly not driving across the country for a *rigged* “setup” race like he did to our buddy Marcus, but Greg might. That was low. We race with etiquette. As gentlemen. With respect for our competitors. (Sounds like you’ve never even watched our Channel?) If he wants to race, he knows where we are: Showtime every Weds and BMP every Thursday. If he can beat Greg, and does it with *any level of class* , then I’ll line up with him. But of course that’s never gonna happen 🤣
@TeslaPlaidChannel your channel just popped up on my home page. I typically don't watch the EVs like that because I rather watch EV vs EVs as opposed to going against a gas engine. And that's something I don't see alot of.
I'm sure that the Demon 170s will run better than the first times shown, as they dial-in their cars, I think that it will be like the regular Demons, and they won't hit those super fast times stock. But the times that the 170s do run are still very fast. And these modified Demons show that they can be VERY competitive! The White Demon showed some solid performance capabilities, but I bet that he was put off by losing to the Plaid. Hopefully he didn't have any mechanical issues. Thomas seems like a true racer, as he sticks with it. He didn't get a great launch either time, but you could see on the last run that he was making some serious power, with a 144MPH trap speed! That wheel stand in the COPO Camaro looked scary! But he was smart about it and got out of the race (but still won). His current runs show off the impressive capabilities of the COPO Camaro, when they are dialed-in and driven well. Again the Model S Plaid has the edge of reliable performance and consistency. You were wise to stay level-headed and not red light.
The Tesla Plaid is cool AF! No denying that, but it's easy to just punch a peddle without doing anything to accomplish those times. Not Hating in any way as I do love the plaid. I'm just saying after awhile doesn't it get boring?" What I mean by that is, No tuning, no tinkering, no trying different ways to launch etc etc... its just... hit the peddle.
We’ve dropped about 170 pounds from the back and as drag racers know, practicing Reaction Times never gets boring. We’ve beaten faster cars, some even running 8.90s-9.0s, due to a better reaction time, and that’s a thrill that never gets old 😃
@TeslaPlaidChannel I guess when you put it that way, you're right. I don't own one, but I've driven a few teslas, and they are great cars. I really do like the plaid and thank you for answering my question as I never thought of it like that. Great video 👍
👍 Indeed, and although it may have gotten off the gas pedal after that, maybe around the 1000ft mark, the race was decided. We haven’t seen a Demon at our track trap near 150 yet, rather only 144-145
Yes, and the steering angle must be steep to get the tires to spin or “drift”. 😳 We are just not going to point our car toward the wall for that. Not worth it, since we know other ways to find traction (as described after 3rd race)
Thanks for asking. We made over 400 passes at full weight. Best was 9.26. Then we removed the rear seat and some rear soundproofing (full details in Description of every video). Then we’ve made about 450 more runs. Best is 9.15. That’s a 0.11 improvement. The front passenger seat contains airbags. NHRA rules prohibit modifications or removal of OEM safety related equipment, otherwise a heavy roll cage must be added. We won’t be removing our front seat any time soon, as we like our NHRA Level 6 license and wish to keep it.
👍Thanks! Looked like the first (white) Demon got off the accelerator somewhere between 1000-1320 feet (he trapped 130MPH instead of the expected 140+ like the second Demon). Wonder if something broke? 🤔
What is so crazy stupid is that the Tesla is a family sedan. A grocery getter. Stock It can kick the butt a pretty much any professional built race car. That is absolutely stupid to me.
We ran 150.85 on Feb 15th. What was different about that run versus the 3 in this video? Lane choice. Left lane shows over 150 regularly. Right lane is *always* under 150. We don’t want to add a parachute or rollcage, so the right lane is fine for us. Know what else affects trap speeds? Which track we are on. They all vary 😃
Ha ha, VERY COOL!! I want to come see you out there some time, I missed you last weekend, ugh, I was SO mad, I was planning on coming, but I just bought a brand new Lyriq and it wasn't charged enough to get out to the track and back home, so I had to skip it, that is ONE BIG DOWNFALL of electric cars, but I'm a newbie, I know where and how to charge now!! Thanks Greg!!
Men The Tesla Plaid is superb !!! After almost thousand's runs it's still runs 9.3 wow That's what I called Super advanced machine (SAM) good job Andrew !! I would imagine it will make 9.00 flat IF you install ceramic rotors from unplug guys which is very lightweight on all 4 corners .....
Thanks! These were particularly fun because they were both running faster than the Demon170 was last week, meaning that they were closer races than the 170 would have been 👍
@TeslaPlaidChannel Yeah, I don't think RacerX is going to run the numbers Dodge claimed... not stock, at least. I believe he had some weight reduction, too. Hopefully he gets it dialed in some and you 2 run. My $ is on the Plaid still. I have a 22' and thoroughly enjoy it still. Can't wait to see the roadster 2.0 and what it runs....if it ever gets released that is lol
I'm seeing the trend of lots and lots of excuses by whatever cars are racing the Plaids, sure 'some days' they ran faster, just not when the cameras are on.

Dodge lied X2. Made them millions and no one holds them accountable. I remember in the early 90's Ford stated the Cobra made X amount of power and owners were not getting the numbers on the dyno or the strip.. They were gonna get sued . Ford did a recall on all Cobras and modified them and then they made the numbers. There is no accountability now. Dodge should have brought all those Demons back and should had made each and every car run what it said they should had of run. Not none of this well if the track has 50 tons of glue, it is a perfect temp., perfect altitude. Lies that made them millions. How many last of the's did they come out with? Oh well, how times have changed. Shoot. We have an ex-President with 93 indictments re-running and that's the best the Republicans could come out with as the best candidate out of a country with 330 million people. My my........
I remember that Cobra debacle in the 90s as well. Good on Ford to up the power when it came up short. These Demons have been so notoriously below their claims that we felt compelled to include “What do Demons Really Run?” at 20:26
TRUMP has already proven to be the most productive ProAmerica President in decades. Stack another 93 false accusations on the first 93 lol. Like it's gonna matter.
I wait all week for your videos, Andrew Always good commentary and info! Did you see Elon announced that the ROADSTER will be coming by the end of 2024 and will do 0-60 IN UNDER. ONE SECOND! If anywhere near true thr roadster should be faster than the Nevers. THAT would be truly amazing!
👍 Thanks Roy! That new Roadster spec is unimaginable for a street legal car on DOT-approved tires. Wonder what the “reload time” will be on those thrusters? Hopefully not more than 20 minutes, which is the typical “cool down” time of these Demons and the COPO. Of course, the haters will talk about that reload time as if it makes the car illegitimate, while ignoring how almost all 8- 9-second cars require significant time between runs (except the Plaid!)
@@TeslaPlaidChannel I doubt Elon would make such a statement UNLESS Tesla has actually had a prototype that did it! A car that fast for $250K would be outrageous as the Nevera is $2.4 million and would be 3/4 of a second slower to 60!!!!!
@@royrauch9775 Well, there may have been an exaggeration or two over the years…especially as it relates to schedules. (This Roadster was announced in 2017 and he obviously didn’t say “due in 7 years”.) Buyers would have been better buying $TSLA stock, because that $50K deposit would be worth more than the full sales price now…
@@royrauch9775 Yep, Tesla has dropped prices aggressively for years. We remember driving a P90D with a sticker over $140K, and then a couple years later we got a vastly superior Raven (faster, bigger battery, etc) for under $100K. Yet it still beats how Dodge dealers have marked up high demand cars by $50K, $100K, and we’ve heard of even more 😳
We beat the Lucid Sapphire 3 out of 3 times in January, by more than 4 car lengths each time. Real life conditions actually matter. Then Lucids VP called the owner and engaged their engineering team to help him. Then it just barely caught the Plaid in the 4th race in February. It’s all documented on video: th-cam.com/video/WSSNgMGsgvI/w-d-xo.html
LOL. Yes, the slowest Volkswagen can beat any car under certain conditions and drivers. Lucid just sent out a booklet on how to set the settings on the Sapphire. They probably watched the same video and realized the guy had no idea on how to launch that Sapphire for the 1/4 mile. Most people don't know the numerous settings that need to be activated to obtain a fast 1/4 mile time on the Sapphire. There has now been 4 professional comparisons done and the Sapphire is in another league than the Plaid at all levels. Motor Trend just did the comparison and said the Plaid is very hard to control at high speeds, the suspensions sucks, and considerably slower than the Sapphire in the 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile and top speed. They said the only time the Plaid should be driven at high speed is on a drag strip. It's not safe on the track nor on an open road course because it's too hard to keep on the road. In contrast, Motor Trend said the Sapphire was the fastest car they had ever tested and quite possibly the best handing car they had ever tested. @@TeslaPlaidChannel
@@jeffreyengen3134 Yet the Plaid has a faster lap record at Sebring than many dedicated track cars, like the GT3 RS. We passed one at over 170MPH with two people in the Plaid. th-cam.com/video/zU0svANnC4g/w-d-xo.html Blake Fuller and others run dangerous hill climbs with Plaids. Haven’t heard them complain? 1/2 mile dragstrip? None exists in Florida, nor any surrounding state. Never seen one of those in my life. How many of those are there in the 50 states anyway? 🤔
Plaids are fast and I like Elon Musk. There are 20 Sapphires in the USA right now. I think they will be releasing 20 more in March and April@@TeslaPlaidChannel
Does he have enough modifications? Betcha the COPO at 14:02 has him covered? The COPO driver (Greg) says that anyone who can beat the Plaid must race him next 😃
What is the point, there is no longer really any human element in racing anymore. Computers pretty much run everything including people's brains. Just stepping on the gas pedal is not really called skills. An AWD electric vehicle, linear power with massive torque will outrun pretty much any production gasoline car. What is the point paying $200k for a car that you thought was faster than a Plaid and all the stars would have to be aligned on that day to beat it. If you had options on the car that added excess weight, those 1/4 mile numbers are null and void. Your 1/4 miles times will never really be consistent anyways. If you have a gas powered rear wheal drive car, your toques on the motor will need to be greater than the Plaid right off idle and continue to match if not beat the Plaid's torque. Having all that HP is worthless if you have to spin up the motor to access all the torque. Since you are relying on the rear 2 wheels for traction versus 4 wheels, there is another star you need to align. Demon 170 was a marketing gimmick that people bought into. If they really showed the 1/4 mile time in the Vegas introduction, people would of not bought it. If all you are wanting to do is build a gas powered car to beat a Plaid a a drag strip, you can do it for a lot less money. Gas powered cars and electric cars have their place in society but should not be compared to one another. I look at this like to the 2 stroke dirt bikes having to compete with new 4 strokes that have double the displacement and more linear power.
Jay Leno isn’t a car guy? He’s obviously more of a gear head than you are. So now you just look ignorant. And we know how many cars and engines we have built. Our guess is you haven’t even built one. Go ahead and lie if you want, and tell us you know more about cars and own more of them than Jay Leno 😃

It should weight classes in these races... Not only that, I really can't stand these ev car enthusiasts acting like they doing something racing us combustible engine guys! It should be a class for ev cars and combustible cars! It's like wrestling vs boxing...
We hear that a lot AFTER the gas car loses. If they could beat the EV, many act like they have accomplished something or “put it in its place”. But when they lose, then “it’s not fair!” And yet the EV weighs far more, which is only a DISadvantage when racing 🤔
Here’s a better idea: 2-wheelers race 2-wheelers, and 4-wheelers race 4-wheelers. But cars that can’t even drive into the track on their own power shouldn’t be allowed to race daily drivers. Yet guess what? We race the trailer-queens and beat them too! 😃
Wonder why it’s taken so long? Teslas have been AWD for a decade, and Audis have been AWD for many many decades. The technology isn’t new, so what is Dodge waiting for? 🤔
Indeed it's not fair for trailered cars to race against daily-drivers that were driven to the track under their own power. There's no way a family sedan would be able to compete with dedicated drag cars that are designed to run the 1/4 mile and nothing else. Totally unfair comparison. 👍 Wait, which one won? No way! Wonder if YT viewers would be interested to know that? 🤔 (over 6 million views and counting)
This Plaid sounded better when it was a tenth slower, but these are the tradeoffs we are willing to make. (Probably doesn’t sound great inside those Demons either, with seats out and who knows what else removed.)

👍 Spot-on as always Dean! 🙏
Great to see Greg doing so well! Cool to see a street car beat a trailer car. Love the great vibes, gas or no gas ❤️
The Tesla Plaid is cool AF! No denying that, but it's easy to just punch a peddle without doing anything to accomplish those times. Not Hating in any way as I do love the plaid. I'm just saying after awhile doesn't it get boring?"
What I mean by that is, No tuning, no tinkering, no trying different ways to launch etc etc... its just... hit the peddle.
That first Demon really gave you a run for it through the 330! Even until the 660, and then he began to lose.
👍 Indeed, and although it may have gotten off the gas pedal after that, maybe around the 1000ft mark, the race was decided. We haven’t seen a Demon at our track trap near 150 yet, rather only 144-145
Modded Demons too
Joke 170s!!!
Andrew, have you tried putting it in track mode just to spin the tires over to clean them off then back into regular mode?
Yes, and the steering angle must be steep to get the tires to spin or “drift”. 😳 We are just not going to point our car toward the wall for that. Not worth it, since we know other ways to find traction (as described after 3rd race)
"Bad Demon, bad! Get back in your trailer!"
I was out there running my RedEye as well that night. After I’m modded, I’m hoping to make content with you.
We look forward to meeting you 👍
Was there any significant time difference running without the rear seat and why not take out the front passenger seat?
Thanks for asking. We made over 400 passes at full weight. Best was 9.26. Then we removed the rear seat and some rear soundproofing (full details in Description of every video). Then we’ve made about 450 more runs. Best is 9.15. That’s a 0.11 improvement.
The front passenger seat contains airbags. NHRA rules prohibit modifications or removal of OEM safety related equipment, otherwise a heavy roll cage must be added. We won’t be removing our front seat any time soon, as we like our NHRA Level 6 license and wish to keep it.
Good Job... and your car is a beast! Have a great weekend...From a little town in Ontario Canada .. .called Delhi!
I'm just here to see Greg's COPO!! Nice runs against those Demons. Embarrassed the first one so bad he had to pack it up!
👍Thanks! Looked like the first (white) Demon got off the accelerator somewhere between 1000-1320 feet (he trapped 130MPH instead of the expected 140+ like the second Demon). Wonder if something broke? 🤔
COPO 8's = 🔥
do the demons drive to track
Both were trailered. Thanks for asking 👍
What is so crazy stupid is that the Tesla is a family sedan. A grocery getter. Stock It can kick the butt a pretty much any professional built race car. That is absolutely stupid to me.
👍 What a great time to be a gearhead! 😃
Love watching your channel! Are you still thinking that a software update is the reason you're not trapping >150 mph any more?
We ran 150.85 on Feb 15th. What was different about that run versus the 3 in this video? Lane choice. Left lane shows over 150 regularly. Right lane is *always* under 150. We don’t want to add a parachute or rollcage, so the right lane is fine for us. Know what else affects trap speeds? Which track we are on. They all vary 😃
If there's no rear dashboard, is it still a rear dashcam? Lol. Nice runs
George jetson hooked me up with some Element 115" for the Prius bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb now I Gap hellcats/vettes too
Tesla gapping the mopar crowd
Ha ha, VERY COOL!! I want to come see you out there some time, I missed you last weekend, ugh, I was SO mad, I was planning on coming, but I just bought a brand new Lyriq and it wasn't charged enough to get out to the track and back home, so I had to skip it, that is ONE BIG DOWNFALL of electric cars, but I'm a newbie, I know where and how to charge now!! Thanks Greg!!

I can microwave a steak faster than I can grill it, but who wants a microwaved steak?
We win 💰 by going fast. Slower cars only lose. (No prize 🏆 for that)
Men The Tesla Plaid is superb !!! After almost thousand's runs it's still runs 9.3 wow That's what I called Super advanced machine (SAM) good job Andrew !! I would imagine it will make 9.00 flat IF you install ceramic rotors from unplug guys which is very lightweight on all 4 corners .....
I hope you buy the Tesla Roadster with Space X package!
La parte de la carrera le subí la velocidad a 1.5 y la aceleración se ve brutal…. Un efecto a probar en la edición 😂😂😂😂😂
1st!
Great video per usual! Good races!
@@TB-vb3ovYep, the Orange 170 has front and rear seats out. We hope he gets into the lower 9s soon 👍

That was the greatest Tesla commercial ever . . . Not so much for Mopar.
Damn you speak truth brother truth indeed
I wait all week for your videos, Andrew
Always good commentary and info!
(This Roadster was announced in 2017 and he obviously didn’t say “due in 7 years”.)
Buyers would have been better buying $TSLA stock, because that $50K deposit would be worth more than the full sales price now…
@@TeslaPlaidChannel BTW see 2021 S Plaids with 20K miles selling for $72K!
@@royrauch9775 Yep, Tesla has dropped prices aggressively for years. We remember driving a P90D with a sticker over $140K, and then a couple years later we got a vastly superior Raven (faster, bigger battery, etc) for under $100K. Yet it still beats how Dodge dealers have marked up high demand cars by $50K, $100K, and we’ve heard of even more 😳
Copo is breaking in
Would you believe that COPO is 7 years old? 😃
Imagine what a Lucid Sapphire would do to both cars. Great digital article on Motor Trend regarding the Plaid vs. the Sapphire on You Tube.
But imagine what the COPO would do to the Sapphire 🤔

I'm not seeing a Lucid Sapphire racing here😄😄😄!
👍 We didn’t see one out here on this night, but he did run a best of 9.00 a week earlier (covered in our last video)
Demonology will do it
Does he have enough modifications?
DEmons who dont do a wheelie get sent home
Plaids are really fast but real car people don’t own them !!

Race EV vs EV say against a Rivian or a Lucid Sapphire and maybe I will give 2 squirts of pi55 who wims
Ya, and rotaries should only race rotaries. Diesels only vs diesels. NOS vs NOS. Turbos can’t race supercharged cars either. Makes a lot of sense! 🤣
Can't wait until demons come out with all wheel drive. Bye bye Tesla!!!
Wonder why it’s taken so long? Teslas have been AWD for a decade, and Audis have been AWD for many many decades. The technology isn’t new, so what is Dodge waiting for? 🤔
@@TeslaPlaidChannel their waiting for a five motor Tesla to come out to give it a chance against the "four corner demon". Dodge rules.
Please, please quit comparing electrics to gas powered cars!
