"Oh the broom closet isn't available? Okay, I'll just set up here behind the vibes and the bass player." --Ed Bickert. Love Ed wearing the shades. This is Rob McConnell's Jive Five of course, and McConnell used Bickert on sessions and gigs from the the late 1960s (maybe even earlier) to the late 1990s. I think one of the last studio records Bickert made was a Christmas album with McConnell's Boss Brass. Jerry Fuller and Ed were 2/3 of Paul Desmond's "Toronto Quartet", along with Don Thompson.

I believe you may missed Ed Bickert on guitar, unless I'm not seeing all the description text. In any case he's an amazing guitarist. I love his piano like playing and his wonderful lines; a very musical cat. The coolest thing about him is the amazing tone he gets from a Telecaster. Ed Bickert is still alive. I believe that he is about 83. stopped publicly playing around 2010 I want to say. Cheers.
*@Troy Lennerd* `````````````````````````` *Thank You , Thank You, Thank You...,* for bringing this to the attention of the public. Ed Bickert didn't care much for fame and centre of the spot-light. This video shows so beautifully his quiet demeanor and unsurpassed artistry even if he is barely visible on the bandstand... I guess, true genius doesn't need much advertising, does he (?) 🐳 ♫♫ ❀(~‿~)❀ ♫♫
Daryl, a great video from the 80's featuring amazing musicians, some sadly no longer with us. However, you seem to have forgotten to include Peter Appleyard (on the vibes), in your musician list.
+Peter A Sorry Peter! I hadn't seen the full video upon uploading it to share with everyone: I only looked at who was playing during the first tune and wrote down who I recognized. I will make the amendment!
Oh the millions of perfect notes that flowed through that guitar!
Ed Bickert, sunglasses and open collar, Mr Cool AF , just kicking ass and taking names.
Love Ed's comping.
Ed Bickert forever! 🎸
Ed ! yes sir

Funny! Yes, Ed's staging definitely summed up his non-extroverted demeanor.
Just wonderful playing.. Ed's harmonic/melodic ideas are so beautiful, even every single note. and the wonderful chemistry among great players also

Thank you so much for uploading this! If you find Rob McConnell's Jive 5, it's a killer album, and is this band playing a number of the same tunes.
