This type of thing keeps me using hdd even today... and it is that despite having other types of problems, the possibility of recovering data from them is still much greater than in sdd's.
This video keeps popping up every other month and scaring the crap outta me 🙃
Wow I just put one in my PC around mid july and updated it immediately when installed. I checked Magician, and thankfully I'm on Firmware 5B2QXA7, I also put the drive in power saving mode for the over provisioning, which yeah takes like 128GB but it apparently helps it perform better and last longer (lol) I also ran a diagnostic scan and it said it's in good health. We are good to go!
This exact thing happened to me, my 2tb 980 evo went into read only mode, lost so much data
same
My mother was like "you spent $200 on a computet part, when all you had to do was wait, and save all that money?"
I go. "Well time is money so i am saving money."
Holy shit I need to check this out
Oh! I have one of those for 10 months, and it got corrupted last week. So am using my backup ssd while trying to figure what the problem is. Thanks for letting me know, I'll look into as soon as possible
Thank you a ton I just got a PC with this drive !!!
Now there's software updates for a storage device? Jeez I miss the old days. Good thing I literally just bought a WD SSD for my ps5 literally 10 minutes ago
Still own a 2tb 970 Evo Plus and don't have any plans on upgrading.
Same
Luckily I only have the 1TB version
Also why are people saying "Luckily I have this instead" when all you have to do is update the firmware
I almost bought one a year ago but since I've always used western digital, Seagate or kingsman changed mind.
damn you got me scared i just bought one like 10m ago after 7 month saving money for it :D thanks for helping
I have one simple rule when it comes to tech, don't buy anything that says Samsung, been following that for 7 years now, never had a single issue until now
Good to see pugets coming in clutch with the research. Happy customer of theirs and I gotta say they're a very great company and I'd trust them to build any PC
I have 8Year Old Hdd still working like a charm
I have a 1tb 980 so I'm gonna look into this when I get home. Thanks
Good thing I am still on my old 970 nvme. I have it for 4 years and no issues so far,
OS on SSD and important documents on HDD with really really important documents on the cloud somewhere.
the voice crack at the start is hilarious and im surprised he didnt do a retake on that
And this is why I went with the Samsung 970 Evo Plus. Lifespan while still having banger performance.
I swear i was hearing devilman crybaby piano notes
This scared me, I have one, but I got it recently. So it was already updated.
Awesome . Haven’t started using mine yet. Thank you!
I bought a 2tb sk hynix platinum when it was, really, expensive, its like half or a third of the price now, but after over 2 years of heavy use, its hella fast, and like 98% health on crystal disk info.
Thanks for this, just got 990 yesterday for my ps5 lol
🤦🏽
I just boought a 2TB 980 pro lol, praise the algorythm.
Me too lmao
Thank you so much. I was just about to build a new PC with a 2TB 980 pro
This was an absolute tragedy for me, I had never thought I would need to download fucking "Samsung Magician" for my M.2, I've never seen any of them need software before lol. Just before Christmas one I'd had for about 2 years bricked itself, thankfully I had a secondary 4TB slower M.2 that I'm still using but it really sucked doing a full system reinstall lol.
Thx, luckily i bought a updated 6months ago, strange but Magician tells me!
I'm so happy that last minute I returned my 980 pro for a western digital on my new build.
Oh so glad I just put one of these in my laptop and am now seeing this video on the day I’m leaving for a deployment.. rip
I've had my 970 since March 2020... no issues
And this is why I have magician updates done every time one comes out.
This is a bit of old news. But it is good to keep sharing the knowledge. Samsung Magician is just a great tool to have.
I just got a 2TB 980 in my pc I built 2 days ago do I still need to do this or did they fix it?
Intel should learn from Samsung
Reminds me of when the OCZ Agility 4 line just died.
My two 1TB 980 Pros are working amazing and on latest firmware.
I prefer my HDD's. Never failed me yet, but its getting harder to find new computers without SSDs. I have actually walked away from several great deals on new desktops because they only had 128 or 256 SSDs.
I’m glad I bought Intel Optane instead of PCIE gen 5 SSD’s. (My Optane drive has very high endurance, super low latency and extremely fast random reads and writes.)
I’ve only used WD Black drives since I started building with m.2s.
Seeing it right after I've purchased one for the build, damn it.
Crazy I almost got that exact SSD but it was just barely outside my budget and I went for a slightly different Samsung SSD, kinda glad I did that now
That voice crack at the beginning though☠️
Me with my micron ssd: 🗿🍷
