  • It has been awhile since I reviewed a product from Narwal, so it was past time to see how far they have come since I reviewed their original robot back in 2021. The new Narwal Freo X Ultra stands out from the crowd with several innovative hardware and software features.

    Looks very neat an interesting. That brush roller does look like future magic. With pets, hair tangles are always frustrating, regardless of how well anyone tells you their robots are. Hair gets tangled! It is a pity they do not have self emptying capabilities. I am also worried about the lack of the onboard water tank with a big floorplan like mine. Especially if you start cleaning far from the base.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Mopping should not be an issue on a single story because it will go back to wash the pads as often as other robots with a water tank on board. These pads are designed to hold water.

    Excellent review as usual! You are the best in the space. Having extensively used both the Narwal Freo X Ultra and the Eufy X10, which would you keep if you were to get rid of one considering their pros and cons ?

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      They are so very different so that is hard to say since the Narwal cost twice as much. If cost was no issue the Narwal cleans better, but has less features. The Narwal also is the best with hair and the X10 is the worst.

    I just got mine today, I did a vacuum run and I'm going to try the mop feature once it recharges a bit. I don't mind that it doesn't have a self empty bin, since the robot can use bags, it still avoids having to dump out a dirt bin and having dust go everywhere. I like that you can set your cleaning preferences for each mode, I don't think I will use the freo mode at all, I would rather have control over how it cleans. Is there a higher suction mode than super powerful? That's the highest setting that it offers. I will probably only use the vacuum mode or the mop mode. I don't want my robots doing both at the same time because of the risk of water getting sucked in to it. I think it's a good robot and I'm glad I bought it.

    Excellent review as always! The bag on this unit intrigued me at first hoping it was part of the filtration system but it appears to be plastic. I’ve been searching for a robo vac that can stand up for use in my hobbyist garage wood shop to help collect the fine dust that ends up on the floor but without a filtered bag I believe this machine would clog it’s filters and lose suction incredibly quickly?
    Makita makes a robot vacuum for this purpose the DRC300Z which is super intriguing but it’s pretty pricey and there’s almost 0 real world info or reviews available making it a tough option to consider.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The filter in the disposable bagis really not much diffent that the one in the physical dust bin. You would be better off getting a robot with an auto empty dock for that purpose or emptying the dustbin frequently.

    • @seanl8930
      @seanl8930 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I love the dreame L20 more although the X30 is a slightly better version of that I gotta tell you that it does perform better. Specifically if Obstacle Avoidance matters to you and navigation I think dreame does better in this space especially for pet accidents and cords my Freo X runs over cords but doesn't suck them in but it does pull on them.

    Does the dust compression system really work? Can it hold dust for 7 weeks like they claim?

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All the compression system does is run the robots vacuum motor on high for a few seconds. I can't really tell that it helps too much.
      The amount of time to take to fill the dustbin will vary depending on things like the size of the home, amount of carpets, amount of animals etc. so I can't say that it will last everyone 7 weeks.

    @Jamie Andrews can you do a review of the Narwal Freo X Plus soon? I just bought it during their early bird sale when it released and I am loving it so far but I am interested in hearing your thoughts. @@jamie.andrews I know it's similar to the Freo X Ultra but it might be better to do it as a side by side comparison and which one will run you better for your money. Also comparing pickup tests between them. I wish Narwal would sell a cleaning doc seperately if we wanted it for the freo X Plus where it would use a roller to clean the mop.

    I'm on the fence about buying a robot vacuum but I think I need one, now that I have hard floors. My main question is what is the long term reliability/costs associated with one of these? I have a top of the line Meile vacuum that will easily last a decade, if not more. If I get a Q revo (current top contender), how much would I have to pay in terms of replacing dust bags, any parts should they break, battery longevity, and in general what's the life span of these things? I'd rather not get into a cycle of having to replace my vacuum like I would my phone every 3 - 4 years.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I suggest looking at bags and replacement brushes and filters on Amazon for your cost. They vary model and manufacture. I still use a 5 year old robot vacuum daily and for me I find them to be reliable if you take care of them and keep them clean and out of harms way.

    • @Sun.n.Flowers
      @Sun.n.Flowers 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I also wonder about this. Roborock is offering 5 year warranty on their newest model, the S8 MaxV which is beyond any extended warranty previously offered.. would be nice if Q Revo was included in that promotion.
