Welcome to a 5-year-old video of my channel. Please read below first if you have any concern.
Her name was Mrs Mushroom🍄, the main character of the 4th Gen (2014-2016). The intent of this video was to share some memorable moments of me chilling with Mrs Mushroom together, on a peaceful summer evening.

PS: This video was filmed at 8pm in the UK during 2015 summer, please do not try this at home (especially if you do not have experience of handling hamsters outside and various precautions need to be taken)
PS(2): Mrs Mushroom (Syrian long-haired) was genetically big and long, but she was not obese/unhealthy (you should notice her belly was flat at 0:51). All her families were genetically big and long, but none of them was obese, overfed or neglected by any means.
PS(3): I understand the way that I hold Mrs Mushroom 5 years ago was not acceptable to some viewers, I would not encourage anyone to hold hamster like that without sufficient knowledge or valid reasons. However, please be reassured that she was not hurt/stressed otherwise she would not eat the peanut calmly.
PS(4): A peanut with/without the skin is safe for hamsters, but please do not feed too many. That small carrier was not her cage and it was also the biggest hamster carrier back in 2015 (carrier needs to be small enough to provide impact protection, it was not advisable to use a guinea pig/rabbit/cat carrier since it would be much more dangerous for the hamster if there was an accident)
Further info (sorry can't afford a PS5): Even as an owner with 20 years' hamster experience, I am still learning all the time (I was only considering my view angle since I knew my pets, but I did realise that it may cause confusions in some viewers, hence I had stopped filming certain contents in my later videos). There have been lots of good advice given to improve my contents over the past years, and I really appreciate all of your contributions🤗

At around 20 sek you can tell the hamster is starting to get a bit fed up at being held like that.. Not saying the owner is terrible or so thought, I've had hamsters myself and could sometimes hold them like that to appriciate their extreme cuteness, lol.
in fact, he is stopping to get to the peanut core just to look around whats there. But since the video cuts off, we never know if he realy does want to run away instead of eating.

She’s a big hamster. My daughter and I once had a hamster that big. I named it Hamstercules because of its size and the fact it kept escaping. It chewed through drywall and concrete foundation to make a nest in the wall of our bathroom. It would come out at night to ask for food and to play. It was a very friendly hamster, but it didn’t like being caged.

@@DinoDude3044 Hamstercules. That was the joke. I took my daughter to the pet store to pick out a hamster. She picked the biggest, ugliest hamster they had. This hamster was twice the size of the rest of the ones in the cage. I asked my daughter, “Are you sure? Don’t you want one that is… cuter?” She was adamant, so we took home the colossal hamster.

I don’t think that hamster is fat. For one it has lots of fluffy hair (which makes it look bigger than it really is), and if you look up Syrian hamster you’ll find lots that look like it. Humans and hamsters are also very different species. As such, society has different expectations of them. For example, if a hamster peed in your hand, you would just think that’s normal animal behavior. But if a human did it, you would be mad at them. Also, I don’t believe fat humans are disgusting. I am saddened by the obese people I see, however, because most all of them have resigned themselves to being fat and will never try to change.
@@fungusphil1263 Well, the same thought as you did, I was also very fat last year, and I'm living in a country with no political correctness, I received many disrespect during that time (but I also experienced similar problem in other contries). I tried to change myself because I feel sick during that period, I had lots of health issue caused by obesity, being fat is really not a good thing. I think this hamster maybe a little bit fat, I also had a syrian hamster when I was in college, she was almost the same size as this one, very cute but my friends with rich experience aboud hamster didn't think this was a good thing. I couldn't find any better way to make her exercise, but luckily she still stayed with me for almost 3 years, although she became very sick due to fatty liver issue during the last half year :(
@@HawxWon I’m sorry you were bullied because of your weight. The same thing happened to me in middle school. It’s awesome that you tried to change and I hope you made some progress. It’s possible that you’re right about the hamster being fat; I’m no expert in small animal health. The only thing I can think of to make a hamster exercise is a hamster wheel, or taking them into a new area to explore (they’re quite curious). A healthy diet also helps. It sucks that yours died, but three years is an impressive lifespan for a hamster. You must have taken good care of him.
@@fungusphil1263 Yeah, I feel happy with her during that time, 3 years is long enough for most hamster, actually it was my first and only hamster during my life, and I didn't have too much knowledge about how long they live, tiny animals like this usually don't live long compared with others, so I didn't get another hamster after then, because it's not easy to see them passing away before your own eyes, it's good enough to watch hamster videos on TH-cam XD.
