I've been raising hamsters since 1982 and this has been my experience.... The majority don't stay still for long when being handled Some do not like being picked up Most are docile and easy going and do not bite when picked up Some will amaze you by getting very attached. I had one that I let loose come look for me daily for food, sometimes falling asleep in my hand. Another would sleep next to me on my pillow for hours. I could pet it, sing to it etc and it wouldn't budge Hamsters are territorial and only get along if they come from the same litter They usually live around 2 years but in my 40 years of raising them I had two hamsters that lived 4 years I kissed all my hamsters in their cute tiny little mouths and never got any disease or sickness. They are ultra clean animals Hamsters are incredibly adorable and fun to watch
When I was a kid my hamster bit me, and my dad thought I should get a tetnis shot, so we went to the ER. I wonder, when hamsters get old, do they dream about their days as babies? They're solitary animals, but maybe they miss being able to cuddle up in one big warm pile with their siblings....
Who knows. My hamster died when he was 4 years old; his fur turned gray, and he became extremely absent-minded, to the point of being oblivious to the food that had been placed right before his nose. I believe he started experiencing some sort of hamster dementia... It was heartbreaking to watch, yet I'm glad he managed to live a long, calm, quiet life.

Elisabeth jav3 you tried hand feeding? If you haven’t every day give them a treat through your fingers and eventually when they take the treat with no hesitation, put your hand flat In the cage with treats on it once a day, then you can start to pick them up as they should be bonded with you:) ( I would do each step for 2-3 weeks)
My daughter got a hamster for Christmas. Ham the hamster. She escaped from her cage for 2 days and nights, my daughter was crying. We have 3 cats and a dog so i didnt expect good news. Found her one morning in the corner with the 3 cats protecting her from the dog. The cats know shes a friend not food. The dog wanted to eat her. Cats were hissing at the dog when he got close. He would have eaten her. The cats groom her whenever shes out of her cage. They love her.

you should try taming your hamster patiently! there are lots of vids on it but generally I try to put food near them, and with time put it closer and closer till they are comfortable taking it from my hand. then I tend to put treats in a jar, wait for them to climb in (do not close the jar of course) and pick the jar up so they can get used to my hands being around them (but be careful that they don't feel suffocated and claustrophobic in the jar! always leave them and escape). I usually spend at least a few weeks doing this in small steps, but some hamsters may need a bit longer.
My daughter had 2 hamsters. One at the time. I miss them dearly. I said no to another one only because I couldn't loose another baby. They both had personalities. Scout was very laid back and would sell her grandmother for food. She came to me when I called her after 2 day gone missing. I found her inside of couch. The poor think was so thirsty, when I put her back in cage. Daizy was sassy little thing. I teased her with food a little once and she gave me the stare and didn't take it from me anymore. We had 6 cages for them connected together and we were switching it around quite often. You could see how excited they got when we did that.
I'll admit I'm not a big fan of the species in general, but there is something truly fascinating about watching them progress from looking like bits of raw chicken, to looking like miniatures of adult hamsters. It's impressive how fast they develop and grow. They appeared to be very well cared for.
@@GG-kn2se That's not their cage tho? Hamsters need to be in a separate cage after breeding. And they need to be far from their father figure. The creator of this video stated themselves that they need to be contained for at least 2-3 weeks, and they also said these cages are for video shooting. They'll get their bigger cage after they've fully grown.
@@GG-kn2se Pretty sure those aren't their cages. The first cage is likely just a temporary cage to keep the babies away from their father and any other hamsters in the cage their mother was bred in. The second cage is likely not a cage the creator makes their hamsters live it. It looks more like a temporary cage meant to show off hamsters before putting them in their real cages. Most of these cages look like they were shown to make the video look cleaner, I doubt the hamsters leave in those full time. Let's not base accusations of neglect off of completely plausible actions.
@@GG-kn2se It’s the same as how a mama dog usually gives birth in a crate or playpen and chills out in that space until her pups are able to free roam and not need to feed. Of course no grown dog is happy in a playpen that fits in a living room, but 1) she’s got a whole litter of little ones to keep her eye on and 2) she just gave birth, she’s tired and needs to recover. I’m sure these hamsters are in a temporary “birthing” cage and will be transferred to new homes and better cages once they are grown.
With most animals giving birth is an easier exprience than with humans because we have inpractically shaped heads as babies, but most mammals have more room since the mother's pelvis is larger in comparison.
@@margaritam.9118 There's a cause, not a reason; evolution isn't a conscious process, it's just a series of consequences. Yeah, the human skull and a few homonids before has had a lot of selection for physically bigger brains which have costed jaw muscle and the sharpness of our senses. The baby skulls have evolved to make it a little easier because they have soft spots meaning the skull is a little flexible and allows the expansion of the brain which is faster than the speed at which we can make skull bones. Of course that's not enough
They are so cute! The cream-banded Syrian hamsters look identical to my hamster, Pancake! On day 18, they look like tiny fluff balls! 🥺Thanks for looking after these little hamsters so well! They seem very healthy! 🐹💕
Things for the veiwers! Number 1: this cage is too small, but when a hamster is pregnant and nursing they will be put into a small cage until all the hamsters are sold. The bare minimum is 450+ sq in and in other places is higher. But for syrians(teddy bear, bear, fancy, ect are just names the pet store gives them so they are cute to smaller children, that isnt their real name) around 600-800 is recommended. So please dont use this small of a cage! If you do the hamster will likely die from stress or a stress related disease. Possibly from escaping or an escape attempt aswell. Number 2: never house any hamsters together! Yes, even dwarfs(I'll get to why in a sec). Hamsters are solitary, especially syrians and the chinese hamster. Housing them together is bad and they will fight, possibly to the death. These guys are housed together up until they are either all sold or they reach the age to be separated(unless this person isnt doing this properly, but I will assume they did since they did everything else right). Now, I know your now mad because I said dwarfs need to be seperate, but let me state why. The only reason dwarfs will live together in the wild is to breed and stay safe from predators. But since in your home they wont be doing either of those, they dont need to be together. Dwarfs will fight eachother too but they can tolerate it a bit more. But this common myth is not true, dwarf hamsters are not social. If you DO decide to house dwarf hamsters together you will need a 900 sq in cage and two of everything(two wheels, sand baths, fold bowls, water bowls, water bottles, ect) you will also need 6 hides instead of three. And lastly, number 3: dont use pine or cedar bedding, the only good wood bedding is aspen. I honestly cannot tell and I would appreciate if the creator would tell me if its aspen or one of the others. The reason you cant use this is cause it causes respiratory infections.
thank you for educating the people in the comments, people really can’t make a video with any animal without people (who sometimes don’t have any experience with any small animals) complaining in the comment section about how many things they are doing wrong.
thank you for all the correct info 😊👍 I was searching for something like this and I noticed the bedding was not deep enough it has to be 5-6 inch bare minimum you done such a good job tho and everything you said is correct thanks 👌👌😊
@@mistermomo2904 The advice for Robos is the same for any other dwarf breed- bigger cage, two of everything, and have a spare cage ready in case they fight
this makes me miss my old hamster.. he died of old age over the summer. unfortunately, I didn't know how to bond with him properly, and he was always scared when I held him. i wasn't there during the months before his death, and I'm sad that i didn't get to have a proper relationship with him. I miss him a lot, and when I get another hamster I'll make them the happiest hamster ever
I had the same with my guinea pig she died in summer too she was old she didnt want to come out of her cage because she was scared now I got a rabbit and I wanna make him the happiest pet i ever had
OMG same. My baby, Coco was around 3 4 months and he died of an illness. I told my parents the day he got sick, take him to the vet, they never listened and it was too late. We buried him in the garden and we put flowers down on his grave very often. My mam also made a little toy a few days after his death, she added a white stripe on it to make it look like him. But I have another Hamster now, his name is Buttons, although he’s naughty, he’s really brave and fearless. Coco was terrified of lots of things. But we realised something more and more, Buttons was starting to look more and more like Coco. His fur was getting brighter, he started to get a white line around his body, and he looks just like Coco now. It’s like he never left us- but the point is, I’m sorry for your loss, and losing a pet, even if it’s just a hamster is one of the worst things, like for example having a dog your entire life since you were born and having it put down, or a cat that you played with your entire life since you were still crawling on your knees as a baby and now you’re about to enter college and the cat doesn’t return. No one has seen or heard it’s purr or meow, just silence and tears
When i watch this, i cried a lot. I remember my hamster, her name is Mi, she gave birth for 2 times, first time, she gave 5 cute hamsters and the second times, she gave 9 hamsters. But till now, she..........already die😭😭😭i cried a lot. I’m remember that time, we got lots of fun together, but now, even her husband To and 1 of her baby, Lo has died. I’m very sad😢😢😢
I love hamsters so much! It's so unfair that they only live a couple years! The hamster in my profile pic, Bonita, was my favorite. She would follow me around the house, and paw at my leg to communicate that she wanted to be picked up and cuddled. If I was sitting on the floor, she would jump on my lap. Bonita was like a very affectionate cat. She passed away in 2016 of kidney failure, and I still miss her like crazy.
I had a hamster named kiwi that looked exactly like the mama! She loved being held and would escape every night to come to my room and crawl into my hand. She stayed in the kitchen. I was so confused how the heck my hamster got in my bed so I laid by my door with the door open to see if my sister was pranking me but 2 hours later I see my little hamster walking straight to me. I miss her 😭
Quinn Thomas I am sending you a virtual hug, my hamster was named Boo, he had problems with his heart so he died during the first week we got him, he was calm and sweet so I was already attached it really hurt my heart reading your comment
When I was young I had a female hamster that I had no idea was preggers and gave birth. It was a beautiful thing to see happen but it sadly didn't end well. Most of the babies starting getting sick and dying in the first few days. My mom and I did everything we could. I held one of them in my palm and fed him, and he passed away in my hand later that night. I named him Fighter because of how hard he was struggling to live. Thankfully one of the babies survived and lived a full happy life. It was depressing as hell but a good lesson about the reality of life.
I'm sorry to say this but if the hamster died it's probably your fault. Hamsters are supposed to live in the wild, and burrow tunnels upto 5 feet. Just like any other animal, they can't live properly in captivity. I speak from actual experience. If I am wrong and hamsters can in fact live in captivity, please please do correct me.
@@nameersadik2123 I've had countless hamsters throughout my youth that all lived long and happy lives, those babies and their mother suffering the way they did was unusual and the only time I've experienced hamsters dying like that. I have had many hamsters in my life, seeing your interaction with these kits warms my heart. They will make excellent little buddies for someone. I’ve had some that came from hamster mills that were very savage and undesirable pets. Yours will be very desirable and gentle.
My hamster died on my birthday when I got her in 2020! I got her at pet smart on January 16 and she die the next Friday the 22 and I was sad cause I only had her for a week so I didn’t get to bond with her!
I remember I had a hamster i named skippy and my sister had one as well (forgot her name) but I came one from school one day and found out that my sisters hamster had babies and skippy was a dad. It was just such an amazing and beautiful thing I was just so excited and happy. I was like 12 at the time so this was a huge thing for me plus skippy himself was a birthday present so he was still my favorite. They all lived happy little lives in their homey little cage. I just want to clear a few things up. Syrian hamsters are a solitary species, while this video is obviously okay as they are still babies and need their mother and each other, this may give the wrong impression to people who don't know much about hamsters. 30 days is actually when some hamsters are able to reproduce, and they should be separated into same sex groups to avoid this from happening, and at this point they don't need their mother. After they're separated, they can stay with each other until 6-8 weeks, after this point their territorial instincts will kick in and they will start fighting, this leads to injuries and even death. So please do not put Syrian hamsters together after 8 weeks. Also, these living conditions looks quite poor, they could just be temporary but again this gives off the wrong impression for people who don't know any better. A hamsters needs at LEAST 450 square inches of floor space, this is the absolute minimum and honestly I'd recommend even more for Syrians since they are quite large. For reference, that clear enclosure looked probably less than 100 square inches and the barred cage around 150, both WAY too small for any type of hamster. I really hope people do research if they're interested in owning a hamster, and not take this video as an example, because these do seem to be temporary cages. Very cute video though!
@@KumaQQ Yeah, of course, large cages can overwhelm the babies and they can hurt themselves on toys. I just wanted to let people who may not know that these cages are not a suitable size for a hamster, since people may look at this and not realize these are just temporary cages
@@krystallevine Yes! While dwarf hamsters do live in groups in the wild, it's only for 2 reasons: Safety and reproduction. And in captivity, both these reasons are ruled out since there's no predators and they won't be reproducing. They don't live in groups for the social aspect like social animals do (like gerbils, mice, rats, rabbits ect.) While they can successfully be kept together in captivity, you'd need to give them a LOT of space (900+ square inches) and double of absolutely everything, but even then they may still fight. It really isn't worth it at all, hamsters don't get lonely, they don't need a friend. They don't get enrichment from being together like humans do, so honestly just keep them by themselves, they do best alone. If you want a social species that need to be in pairs/groups, you could look into gerbils and mice who have similar (but not the same) care, or just get a single hamster, simple as that. Hope this helped
As a longtime owner of my beloved hammys, i can appreciate where your concern is coming from but this is a breeding enclosure and it is of the right size for the babies. I doubt anyone getting a hamster for the first time would be negatively influenced by this video regards to the appropriate care. But still good that u point it out 🙂💗
@@sarahroberts7374 I did mention how I know this is a temporary cage, I know large cages can overwhelm the babies. I just wanted to mention since I know there's a lot of people who don't know much about hamster care who see this video and may want a hamster because of how cute these ones are, and many people just go off to a pet store without ever doing any more research. It's so common for hamsters to be unknowingly neglected, so many people just put them in small cages because it all that's ever shown in pet stores so people don't realize it's wrong. I just wanted to mention this for those who don't know any better, and hopefully the people who never done any research on this topic and are just passing by will learn a bit from reading my comment 😌

They are so cute and small at first.🤭 They grow up so fast. I have a hamster called Churro, He is a Syrian, long haired, cream banded, hamster (look it up). He is very old as he is 2 and 2 and a bit months. And hamsters usually live to 2 and a half. He is more like a cat than a hamster, he happily sits on my lap, I also have to brush him with a toothbrush because he has really long hair.
Adorable little hamsters! I have a male and a female Syrian and this makes me want to see if they would like each other. But I won't because deliberate hamster breeding is irresponsible. I loved how you filmed them daily so we could see the subtle changes. One day - naked. Next day - covered in fur! Day 21 - eyes open! You obviously have a wonderful relationship with momma hamster, and those babies will go to their new homes well socialized. Great job!
Your mother hamster looks identical to my hamster I had for 3 (almost 4 years) when I was in my teens. She was so precious and used to sit on my shoulder and climb on my head eating nuts, while I used to play on my Xbox. Thanks for bringing back some fond memories. R.I.P. Peaches. ❤

NewComic ? Yeah say if there was no mother then yeah of course but the reason they eat there babies is because in the wild if a predator comes the mother would much rather the energy go to themselves than the predator
that is not completely true. with any animal. Yes if she is stressed she will do that. most rodents do that. but if you have had a hamster for a long time and she is well bonded to you there should be no problem. As long as you do not stress her it will be ok. also sometimes they can see a problem with a baby and do that.
I remember when my hamster was this small! This made me squeal with joy! (I adopted a Syrian hamster a year ago and he stayed in his baby size until he was 8 months old then had a huge growth spurt. He was so tiny!)
It's called a temporary housing cage, they put the hamster in their to raise the baby's and check for medical problems, then put them in a bigger cage. That's what breeders do 🧠
@@Sindical_ Still, a storage bin size would be much better. Even if its not even 450 square inches. I can understand a smaller cage when they were really tiny, but the fact that they were never moved into a bigger one when they grew bigger...

I wonder, when hamsters get old, do they dream about their days as babies? They're solitary animals, but maybe they miss being able to cuddle up in one big warm pile with their siblings....
😔

They don't like be bother. Try to tame it first.
you should try taming your hamster patiently! there are lots of vids on it but generally I try to put food near them, and with time put it closer and closer till they are comfortable taking it from my hand. then I tend to put treats in a jar, wait for them to climb in (do not close the jar of course) and pick the jar up so they can get used to my hands being around them (but be careful that they don't feel suffocated and claustrophobic in the jar! always leave them and escape). I usually spend at least a few weeks doing this in small steps, but some hamsters may need a bit longer.
You can train him
You definitely have to give your hamster time to get used to you.

All the cages seen in this video would give any hamster almost no quality of life.
@@llamaniaman4002 true they look healthy and happy
@@GG-kn2se It’s the same as how a mama dog usually gives birth in a crate or playpen and chills out in that space until her pups are able to free roam and not need to feed. Of course no grown dog is happy in a playpen that fits in a living room, but 1) she’s got a whole litter of little ones to keep her eye on and 2) she just gave birth, she’s tired and needs to recover.
I’m sure these hamsters are in a temporary “birthing” cage and will be transferred to new homes and better cages once they are grown.

The reason you cant use this is cause it causes respiratory infections.
thank you for educating the people in the comments, people really can’t make a video with any animal without people (who sometimes don’t have any experience with any small animals) complaining in the comment section about how many things they are doing wrong.
thank you for all the correct info 😊👍
I was searching for something like this and I noticed the bedding was not deep enough it has to be 5-6 inch bare minimum you done such a good job tho and everything you said is correct thanks 👌👌😊

Do you know if winter white also prefer to be alone?
I just wanted to mention this for those who don't know any better, and hopefully the people who never done any research on this topic and are just passing by will learn a bit from reading my comment 😌
i couldn't stop crying because they are so cute!!
over acting
Lol
WHAT...
Hahahaha funny , i hear hamsters are a delicacy. People say cats taste good in tamales so hamsters might taste good in dumplings 😋

That vídeo makes me cry a Lot , i makes me remember my old friend hamster , that died last year ;(
But im so proud of people like you who take care with hamsters , the deserve a Lot of love ❤️
I think you should get another hamster and treat him like how you did to your old one.
@@retardbuster1498 i did that , now i have new hamster , and im giving him all love that he deserve 😊❤️
@@renanoliveira1639 Glad to know!!
My hamsters died last year too I had lots of hamsters bc of breeding 😢
They are so cute and small at first.🤭
They grow up so fast.
I have a hamster called Churro,
He is a Syrian, long haired, cream banded, hamster (look it up).
Great job!
KumaQQ you are the best hamster person I have ever seen
Your mother hamster looks identical to my hamster I had for 3 (almost 4 years) when I was in my teens. She was so precious and used to sit on my shoulder and climb on my head eating nuts, while I used to play on my Xbox. Thanks for bringing back some fond memories. R.I.P. Peaches. ❤
R.I.P Peaches ❤️
thats almost a world record the most they lived for is 4 years
@@powerstar-uf7oh Aye, it felt like I had her longer to be honest. She got a white belly when she got older but her facial features stayed the same.
@@mrpoisoness5098 i had a 3 year old hamster that dyed...from old age he was turning gray haired and stuff mama was tryin to get him to eat or drink but he wouldnt he was a white and black sirian hamster named fluffy

My hamster died a couple of weeks ago 😭😭😭 but she is in better place now
Mine died last year :(
Sigh. I wish they lived longer.
Why is she in a better place? We’re u a bad hamster owner?
No
@@sinestro1136 he probably means his hamster had something wrong with it and is now resting peacefully
i feel like they’re always picking on the little brownish guy🥺
4:05 😭😭🥺🥺That is the colour of a hamster that i would buy
I d buy all tbh, i d make a gang gang heheh

Yo hamster racist
My heart has been carried away from these little fluffers ❤️ actually I have a hamster myself only one and the only things she likes to do is eat sleep and play she acts like she can live on her own in the wild 😂
I could never have imagined that watching baby hamsters and their mom could be so calming and entertaining. THanks for doing this video.
Hello🥰🥰🥰
I am really happy to see a video in which the animals are happy and treated with care. Thank you for these 10 minutes of happiness.
Hello my friend🙂
Attention: don’t pick up the babies until 14 days otherwise the mother will eat her babies because she will feel threatened
I thought they did that if they didn't have the resources to feed her pups (they're probably not called pups but yknow)
@@newcomic5526 they're called pups look it up on google
Omg he picked them up at day 11 they are dead 😭
Its so cute when i look them they very cutest baby hamster and mother too😊😊😊
I have a Syrian that looks just like the mommy hamster...I'm sobbing! This is so precious!
5:21 CUTEST LITTLE HAM HAM!!!! AWWWWWWWWWWW STOP IT! i cant see this it’s to CUTEE *cries of cuteness*
Thanks for the time stamp I just about died
The mother hamster did a very good job a raising them, I respect her for that ❤️
אני לא יכולה לתהר כמה שהם חמודים ומתוקים וזה הדבר הכי מתוק וחמוד בעולם כולו😊😘😍
That was so relaxing to watch ... she's such a good mommy!!
I remember when my hamster was this small! This made me squeal with joy! (I adopted a Syrian hamster a year ago and he stayed in his baby size until he was 8 months old then had a huge growth spurt. He was so tiny!)
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😻😻😻
I was molested as a child. 😢
Father said “yeah I’ll be right back I just gotta get the milk”
Haha! A lot of fathers say that - poor Momma, got to do all the heavy lifting!

ini ada di mane ye sekarang kawan
So cute but plz get them a bigger cage
That's what I was thinking bc there's so many and please put in deaper bedding
It's called a temporary housing cage, they put the hamster in their to raise the baby's and check for medical problems, then put them in a bigger cage. That's what breeders do 🧠
@@Sindical_ Still, a storage bin size would be much better. Even if its not even 450 square inches. I can understand a smaller cage when they were really tiny, but the fact that they were never moved into a bigger one when they grew bigger...
@@azura4582 I'm pretty sure they didnt keep all the babies. They all probably went to new homes where they each had their own cage. They were just raising them until they were old enough to go to new homes.
@@cupofmaddyVODS its the pandemic. Social distancing. She probably didn't since you can't go anywhere. This is an Asian hamster channel. Most hide under the gise of cuteness, but there is hoarding going on in all these kinds of channels. Its not okay.
