The creepiest thing about the video is how the narrator sounds almost glad about the current state of the Imperium. As if he wouldn't have it any other way.

It would be perfect if narrator started laughing right after the laughter of gods line which would suggest that he is in fact one of the chaos gods, probably Tzeentch.
just rember you only have 1000 round before you need to replace any parts.
Or instead of the narrator laughing there is just some laughter in the background, four voices laughing for that matter before quickly going silent.
And/or the camera panning to show the narrator is Lorgar or something.
@@elysiankentarchy1531 For me it would be better if it was Tzeentch, the only being smart enough to break the 4th wall. He would explain it so well, put into it so much atmosphere that it would hook up new fans, make GW sells increase and by that they would keep going with grimdark Warhammer 40k and the war and suffering never ends in this universe. Just as planned.

If there will ever be a W40k movie, all the trailers/teasers should be like this. A brief introduction to the lore instead of your usual inane trailer that spoils much of the fun of the movie.

The space marine’s intro text would be sooo good in a trailer of that format, just a deep, commanding voice stating his will to create the ultimate soldiers on a background of astartes rites and battles.

I like that the intro for the Emperor, with all its vivid descriptors of him and his inexhaustible armies, would normally be reserved for the most evil faction of any other setting.

I reckon it is the Emporer's official Narrator who is duty bound to narrate his every move. The last 10,000 years have pretty much been "And so the glorious god king of the Imperium sits interred as a corpse upon his golden throne... He continues to sit perched upon his mighty chair... Still sitting, while his mighty physic presence continues to hold his imperium together...".
I will never get over how this is the first video in the TTS playlist. A literary masterpiece of description concerning the appalling and depressing state of the Imperium of Man. Then you get TTS. Never has a juxtaposition been so fucking hilarious.

Really should have been "he is the master of mankind by his own will" or hand or might.
But not inaccurate since the Horus Hersey went "Just as planned" for the Chaos powers. They wanted the stagnant empire full of fearful superstitious zealots. An empire ruled over by an perpetual Emperor who is forced unto the Golden Throne forever as a prison never being allowed to regenerate his body to its previous potential its previous threat to them.

That's been in the intro for 40K since it's early days. The script for this piece is straight out of the the rule books.
Early human psykers created him because they sensed the presence of Warp Gods, probably seen demons as well.
I wish there were a version of this intro for every faction/species in 40k. Mainly because I really want to see the Orks' one, which would be incredibly upbeat. All they care about is fighting, and there's stuff to fight EVERYWHERE! They aren't pining for some lost golden age, or slowly going extinct, or being eaten by the torture god, or fighting tooth and nail to prolong their slow slide into stagnation and death. For the Orks, the grim darkness of the far future isn't only war, it's also WAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

Me: “rebels?”
Friend: you know the rebels, like the Rebels in star wars, Hunger Games, exc. I can’t find anything about them.
Me: you mean...like chaos?
Friend: no I mean like the good guys ya know? The people overthrowing the evil imperium
Me: well first off there are no ‘good guys’ but that doesn’t matter...there probably all over their just so insignificant they don’t matter.
Friend: what do you mean? I’m sure the empire thought the Rebels were so small they were insignificant and we know how they turned out for them
Me: no I mean they literally cannot matter...like at all. Seriously if there was ever a wide scale rebellion where 1,000 worlds would rebel against the imperium...it would still be so insignificant the Imperium might not even bother fighting them.
Friend: what do you mean they’d just let them secede?
Me: well no but the amount of worlds and even entire solar systems the imperium just ‘loses’ do to how big the imperium is, is practically an entire meme in the community. A thousand worlds going up in rebellion might not even be noticed by anyone for decades after they seceded. Then some random guy notices the Imperial Tithe hasn’t been paid in awhile so they send a fleet show up and annihilate the planets in rebellion, leave and forget those worlds existed in the first place.

Me: oh no, pretty much any single one of their ships can destroy a planet.

The truth is painful, but even Tau are minor inconveice for Imperium. They can be anihilated with one potent strike - but that means the Imperium need to focus and combine all powers at once, which in fact - they cannot do. Not without loosing other fronts. The Imperium is streched thin. They salvage everything they can. Terminator armours, ships, resources. The only thing that they have plenty are man. Billions of man equipped in primitive technology (compared to the earlier eras).
@@mariuszsobolewski9839 yeah when the Imperium sent a “small” and “ragtag” Crusading Force that barely got started and only took out a few Ta’u Planets The Ta’u considered it to basically be their “End Times” but then some Tyranids showed up nearby and the Crusading Forces were sent to fight some ‘Nids IIRC

If there is to ever be a true 40k film or tv series, this very thing would have to be played at the beginning. It is so integral to the literature and lineage of 40k, and also the best possible primer on the place of humanity in the far future.
In a TV series, the very first episode (S1E0) should basically be something like this, explaining all the lore within one episode, then the story starting in the next one.

This video would be perfect if narrator started laughing after "Laughter of thirsting gods" line. It would be really creepy and awesome because it would suggest that the narrator is in fact a chaos god, most likely Tzeentch who wants to drive us in to Warhammer 40k so the grimdark future may never end. Just as planned.
That would be pretty hard to do withouth the narrator sounding like a twirling mustache villain.

Am I the only one who thinks warhammer 40k is at its strongest from a literary/narrative form of story telling? Sure the video games and future films/shows that come out will be great but I think prose works well for the setting. Everything becomes much more grand, big, and horrifying when you let the readers imagination piece together the 40 first millennium.
I mean, astartes is a great short film series to describe just how brutal and inhuman the future is.

Fully agree, for how grandly the setting can be portrayed nothing can compare to the vastness of the imagination that paints from such a grand description of the universe
I think they work well in tandem. For small skirmishes between individuals or squads, animations are great. But for epic, long campaigns and conspiracies? Yeah, prose is unmatched.

@@reclusiarchgrimaldus1269 The Custodes, as grand as they are, are not soldiers, they are a legion of bodyguards, created from the Emperor's own genome (as opposed to the Astartes, who are created from their Primarch's genomes, who intern were created from the Emperor's genome, with certain strands of DNA removed/replaced/added depending on the Primarch). Each Custodes is an individual work of art and craftsmanship, a unique warrior who fights with his own style, an army of one, even as he stands alongside his brother Legiones Custodes in defence of their Emperor.
The Astartes were mass manufactured for war on a grant scale, punched from the same mould and engineered to work together in squads, companies/centuries, great companies/chapters, legions. They were bred to be cannon fodder for the Great Crusade and lead from the front against the enemies of man. They are the finest soldiers of mankind, but they are there to die for their Imperium!

This was THE video that made me get into 40k. Never touched Warhammer before. I now own 56 Orc models, have spent countless nights hobbying/painting said orcs, played the Only War ttrpg, as well as the 4th edition fantasy ttrpg, I own all of the original Dawn of War games, and have finally begun the daunting task of making my way through the Horus heresy novels. What a wild year it's been.
I cannot express this enough, thank you for giving me my new favorite hobby.

If they ever found the dark, uncaring world that is the 41st Millennium, they will be greeted not with admiration and intrigue, but with suspicion, carnage, slaughter, suffering and bloodshed. Even the most hardened heroes and callous of villains are taken aback by the grimdark world of the Imperium of Man, and the wondrous yet terrible worlds beyond it. This dreary, superstitious, fanatical and uncaring universe they have stumbled upon may very well claim the lives of many a hero and villain before their first day in this awful future is even close to ending.
Heroes will be overwhelmed by the horror and struggle for survival in this world, and try to make sense of this brutal reality that they now stand in. They will try to benefit the Earth they once knew, but much of Terra will strike them down out of religious zealotry. Even the most skilled and determined of heroes will be undone and defeated by the stagnant yet surrender-less nature of mankind, and that is only the least terrible of their fates. Mutants, heretics, inquisitors and far worse will hound and battle them, or they will fight before inevitably falling to the might and unstoppable strength of alien races, such as the battle-bound Orks or the unbreakable Necrons. They will find no allies with the saviors and gods of old, for the darkness of these worlds, races and the evil of the Warp and of Chaos will have overwhelmed and consumed them. Even the most secret and secure of realms will be corrupted and taken into the bowels of the Warp, their secrets and memories lost forever. Those powerful and resilient enough to survive will have their wills crushed either by the forces of terror and destruction, or the overwhelming, soul-wrenching reality of this new world, before they too will succumb to death, pain and despair.
Villains will find themselves faced by a darkness and emptiness even they cannot find purpose or refuge in. Heroes have always faced the evil of the Abyss, and in this vile world, villains will be forced to look into the depths of depravity, one which they will soon realize will absorb them regardless of their station. The vain and egotistical will be rendered broken and purposeless by these fiendish worlds and their inhabitants, forever indifferent to their delusions of self-worth and false superiority. The controlling and intelligent will be rendered forever defeated, for they now face a collective willpower from mankind that bows to no single man or monster, a will that will stand long after the planets and worlds they inhabit are broken, before humanity even considers the idea of surrender or submission. Like the heroes, the villains too will be ostracized and hunted down, slaughtered by an unyielding army of soldiers that fight not for justice, but victory, order and survival. Even the most sadistic will be utterly destroyed by the unimaginable savagery of the 41st Millennium, their sanity and souls left at the whims of the viciousness of indescribable evil, such as the hellish, insidious demons of the Warp, the monstrously unstoppable Tyranids, or the sickening torturousness of those of the Dark Eldar. Many excessively powerful and god-like villains may yet survive, finding a place among the horrid roles of this newfound evil, but even they will become eroded and succumb to the emptiness of the Warp, becoming nothing more but carnal, savage monstrosities. Many villains will be forcibly humbled by this unforgiving world they are now trapped within, reduced from powerful criminals and warmongers to barely sentient masses of animate flesh. Worst of all, within the deepest recesses of their mind, they can hear the mocking laughter of true, uncaring, heartless gods, and they know that even in death, they will not be spared of agony. In the depths of the hell that is the Warp, they will find a new definition of true despair as they are reduced to nothing more than tormented husks, no longer comprehending of the lives they once lead, their faintest traces of humanity forever extinguished.
It is within this Abyss of violence and despair that heroes and villains alike will drown, never to see the light of day again, forever left to fall into nothingness, where their pain will never stop growing. For within this uncaring Millennium, no one will remember them, legacies reduced to non-existence, their deeds forgotten and forever undone.
It is here that they will forever know that they and all they held dear is meaningless, swallowed by the emptiness.

The warp will devour their entire galaxy on the End of times, putting end to this pointless and worthless war.
And the last light of hope for the survivors and true heroes of this will slowly creep into another galaxy, where everything will have to start again, but now, without making the same mistakes as before.
