Yep, but remember that no matter how terrible Biden handles this, trump would be 100x worse. Bernie himself would (and has) absolutely urge all his would-be voters to instead vote for Biden.

@@frimi8593 what if we check our magic 8- ball? How many times does Biden win then?
We don't live in a democracy, we live in a Constitutional Republic. Part (edit: popular*) votes don't win the presidency. We could change that with a Constitutional amendment, and both Biden and Obama had a democratic Senate and House of Representatives and they chose not to change this system because they like how corrupt it is.
Biden barely squeaked by Trump by changing the rules in several states in what looks like illegal ways, but our kangaroo courts ruled in Bidens favor. I will say fortunately because I do prefer Biden over Trump, but Sanders was, by a long margin, the best candidate. The media has done a great job of covering up Bidens many flaws, so that was money well spent!

But, instead, they use it as a scare tactic and fund raising tool. Trump's rhetoric gave those who gave up on electoral politics hope. So, they voted for him. Turned out that he was just like all the rest, but the MSM keeps pounding into people's heads that he's a "threat to our democracy". What democracy? I supported Bernie in both 2016 & 2020 but he abandoned us and lied about being Biden's friend while Biden treated him like the biggest cuck of all cucks.
      Well, Bernie is WRONG!!!
Biden would END our democracy if we let him run again for four more years. It's all endless wars & catering for the wealthy.
      NOPE!
We need Trump back to fight against those Corporate Democrats.
Biden is a dictator wannabe, lifelong corporatist and a closeted republican.
Biden's handlers, Obama & Hillary, are destroying our country.
Here is an example to prove that Biden was NEVER for us Americans, but for the special interests.
Remember when Trump lowered the cost of insulin, and Biden immediately undid that? Then, when Biden had no choice but to re-implement that policy, he finely did, and then took credit for it? He probably don't remember, but we do!!!
Biden HAS to go because Biden is much more dangerous than Trump.

So it's a difficult situation, Biden administration still are kinder to the average person than the right, who just make everyone angry and deregulate so big business can get away with more.
Trump backs big business but pretends to look out for the common person. He repealed over 100 environmental laws when he was in power. Many allowing more pollutants into our water and air. Trump not only allowed factories to pump more pollutants into the air but to build closer to residential areas. Thats not a man that cares about the people.

Bernie has honed his communication skills to a very fine point. The ignorance of American people prevents the real progress Bernie represents

It's not enough to re-elect Biden.. there needs to be a majority in Congress and the Senate in order to get anything done.

As a 64-year-old white woman who has been a citizen of the United States all my life, I've long thought that the problem with the United States is that we do not have a parliamentary system. That means we're stuck with our two-party system because no candidate other than a Democrat or a Republican is ever going to win a presidential election, especially as campaign expenditures have grown astronomically. Independents and socialists like Bernie Sanders, as well as progressive Democrats currently serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, do not hold enough seats to really change things. Particularly in the Republican Party, their extreme right-wing members of what's called the "Freedom" Caucus function as a thorn in the side of the Republican leadership, because they can block legislation with only a few votes because the partisan balance is so close. Conversely, progressive Democrats in the House have more ability to influence the president and the Democratic leadership, although not as much as I think they'd prefer to have, and they don't usually act as roadblocks. Because of their tactics, progressives can sometimes move legislative actions a little more in the direction they prefer.
However, in a parliamentary system with a close leadership race like our current presidential campaign, these outlier groups and politicians would have greater power because they could form new parties with which the major parties would have to form coalitions if they want to win either an election or a legislative battle.
For example, we've long had a Green Party in the United States but they've never gotten out of the single digits in national election results. They could have far more influence, and I daresay a lot more citizens on their side, in a parliamentary system.
I personally voted for Green Party candidate Ralph Nader in two different general elections. The first was while I lived in the District of Columbia and worked as a Democratic staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives. Because of the heavily Democratic-leaning political dynamics in the District, I knew that I could vote for Green Party candidate Ralph Nader without risking Republicans winning any of D.C.'s three electoral votes. Plus, I was trying to help the Green Party get a higher placement on future ballots by getting a specified percentage of the vote, which I think was l 5% vote. I can't recall for certain what year that was, but it might have been for President Clinton's reelection in 1996. My vote for Nader did not affect his victory!
And in 2000, I moved to Athens, Georgia to go to graduate school. It was pretty much the same situation but in reverse! I strongly supported Democrat Al Gore for president and thought Republican George W. Bush would be the worst president ever! (I thought he was until Trump came along!) But at that point, Georgia was so heavily Republican that every statewide poll showed Bush leading Gore by 15 to 20 percent. All through my first semester in grad school. I watched the polls like a hawk and spent way too much time watching political news on TV because I wanted to know if it would be safe to vote for Ralph Nader and the Green Party - meaning that it wouldn't affect Al Gore's chances of winning the presidency. I ended up doing just that, knowing that Bush would take all of Georgia's electoral votes regardless of how I voted. Too bad people in Florida did the same thing but were apparently not as thoughtful about what they were doing by voting Green.
And then I couldn't believe the whole recount mess, which meant that I took more time away from my studies for another month!

An excellent conversation/interview. My unlikely wish for a US president/vice president combination would be Bernie Sanders and Arnold Schwarzenegger, or vice versa. I think that although they are in different houses, there is a remarkable similarilty in their ideologies. Arnie of course is currently ineligible for the presidency as he was not born in the USA; but hey nothing is forever.
