That's why I say, doesn't matter what unit you served in, I was in sector 10 Ruacana and when the infantry regiment needs supplies, The maintenance guys took it. When a vehicle get stuffed the tiffies fixed it. See it my way, I'm was not ashamed to be part of the maintenance guys. I'm was proud to be part of one off the best militaries in the world if not the best.

Nice to hear from our South African buddies (I'm a Rhodie). A very efficient and hard-hitting army you guys had; no wonder Montgomery used the South Africans a lot in WW2. A very nice interview style and production overall.

I'm a US citizen that was there since I was 8 and got called up after matric in 87/88. There was nothing voluntary about it in my case. They said pitch up or leave so I played infantryman for a few years.

A-SQN 1SSB and C SQN 61 83-84. We visited 10 now and again. Yours and our Echelon boys were the best. After a long day doing the “job” the replenishment of fuel ammo and food was always handled with efficiency… That’s when you appreciated the back up👍🏼🙏🏽

This brought back a lot of great memories. I joined the army just as the war came to an end so never went to the border but after basics in 4SAI we did exercise Excalibur in Lohatla. I was an Echelon B driver of a Kwevoel 100 diesel bunker.
As a teenager I didn't really have any clue what the war was about and didn't really care but 34 years later I've started taking an interest and doing a lot of reading about it.
