    Would love to hear suggestions as to what things you think we should try freeze-drying; who knows, maybe we can do a "Will It Freeze Dry?" video:)

    I always enjoy your cheerful videos Ani. I wish I owned a freeze-drier ; this video only makes me wish some more.
    I can see in addition to preserving nutrients and color it also makes it easier to pulverize any food into flakes.
    Since I don't have the luxury of owning a freezer-dryer I have to chop parsley, cilantro, or basil by hand. I do know a trick that makes the chore much faster and easier, and less messy though. Here's how:
    Remove long stems. Put leaves of choice into a mug. Plunge a pair of clean scissors into the centre of the leaves. Now open and shut the scissors repeatedly until leaves are chopped to desired size. In no time you can chop a whole cup of leaves, and they stay nicely contained in the cup.
    I keep a pair of clean green-handled scissors set aside with my kitchen tools just for cutting garden greens with. (I also use them for cutting chives or green onions by holding the green shafts gathered into a bunch in my hand, and cutting through several green stands at a time, to desired length).
    I can't find cutting parsley in a cup with scissors demonstrated on TH-cam. Please try it, and if you find it as efficient as I do, please demonstrate this tip with your subscribers.

    This is a beautiful video. One year we grew mint and freeze dried some. Herbs are wonderful.
    Lately I've been focusing on freeze drying soups. Do you have any great recipies?
    We love to see how our community uses the freeze dryer. You are awesome.

      Thank you so much for your nice comment. I have not tried freeze drying soups yet, but it sounds like a wonderful idea. I have several soup recipes on my website. Here are three: chefani.com/my-favorite-healthy-fall-soup-recipes/

      Canning and freezing are great too! This year we have canned peaches, applesauce, and tomato sauce. And we freeze just about everything else:)

    Love your red freeze dryer. Looks really fun. Can you freeze dry meals like chicken and rice, fajitas, spaghetti, etc.?

    • @ChefAni
      @ChefAni  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question! We have not tried to freeze-dry any of those things. I did a quick search on TH-cam and it looks like other people have tried it though.

    I bought a freeze dryer back in February and can you believe it I haven’t used it yet!?! How about making freeze dried mashed potatoes for the upcoming holidays? Thank you for the beautiful informative video! .... Is your dryer in the basement? Is it too loud for normal rooms?

    • @ChefAni
      @ChefAni  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we have our freeze dryer in the basement. It creates a little noice, but not too bad. Freeze dried mashed potatoes sounds like an excellent idea. I hope you will like your freeze dryer, we have had a lot of fun with ours.

    Just found your channel and subscribed. You look too young to be a chef. What? You're all of 16?LOL
    I've had my large freeze dryer and oil less pump running almost 24/7 since Dec 2018. Done all kinds of foods.
    I don't see many freeze drying videos listed but I hope to see more. Nice that you cook as well. You should try and incorporate your cooking with a segment on freeze drying it with a reconstitution and taste test. That would be fun - learn to cook and freeze dry.
    For me - I don't have any suggestions for videos - I've done almost everything that is possible. But I still learn a new trick from time to time.
    Why does your dryer not look level? Even the older model didn't need tipped very much for draining.
    I use a thin coat of petroleum jelly on the outer rim of the chamber to help the door seal ring seal. No real need to remove it each time to get it wet. I do however remove it to clean the rack and chamber about every 10 batches - unless I have a "Blow Up" and mess to clean up. (You know what I'm talking about. LOL)
    You've had your dryer for a few years - so you're not a "Newbie" but I'll share some tips with you from time to time. We can all learn from each other, Right now I have to binge on your cooking videos and see if there are things I like. I'd really like to see meals that freeze dry well. I need some new material to do. Something different from what I normally do.
    You stay safe young lady - and say HI to your Mom for me. Peace be with you.

      Welcome to my channel. Thank you for subscribing and thank you for the suggestions. Sounds like you have lots of experience with freeze drying. I am not quite sure why the dryer is set up the way it is, but I believe it came this way. The petroleum jelly sounds like an excellent idea. I'll have to try it. Thank you for your comment!
