- The #FordMaverick gets some big upgrades this year, including a first-ever street performance variant dubbed the #MaverickLobo. The #FordMaverickLobo comes with a 2.0L #EcoBoost turbo engine under the hood, paired to a quick-shifting 7-speed transmission and standard AWD. It also gets a unique look on the outside, a lowered suspension with 19” wheels, and a new Adrenaline Sport driving mode for when the road gets twisty.

Bet you this trim is gonna last 1 year because dealerships think its a good idea to mark up a maverick with different bumpers by 10k.

Torque is what matters on these smaller turbocharged motors. The motor is more than adequate for this size of a truck.
Only Pepperidge Farms remembers when the Maverick was marketed as a sub $20K truck.

Future ST. This is probably a stepping stone. Hopefully. But yes. 2.3l with the 8F57 transmission putting out between 270 and 300hp. Also another couple inches lower. Unfortunately that vehicle would also be $45k which I don’t want to spend. I’d probably still pick up an EB at that point and just modify it. Save some money and make it closer to what I want.
It does go with what a lot of car manufacturers do. Instead of increasing horsepower and making it true performance, they leave the horsepower the same as the standard engine and just add mainly cosmetic touches and then call it performance.
The Ford Lobo nameplate in Mexico is a Mexican market F-150 (non XL trims) - only the work trucks in Mexico are badged F-150
If it had the 2.7 Ecoboost V6 and a manual it would be perfect.
Even the 300hp 2.3 from the base bronco
Any one of these 2 engines especially the 2.3, would have made more sense than this 2.0 238hp they have in it. The sales numbers on this is about to plummet.

They need a slightly more powerful version to get me interested. I'm still driving my 18 focus st which is putting out about 300 crank hp. This is gonna feel slow and sad if I switch to it

This is a cool idea, and I wish they would have given it a more powerful engine, but they know people will tune it. Those wheels don't match the vehicle imo, but you can buy a wheel that you like and sell these to an ST owner all day.
That blue on the dash reminds me of an old '86 Ford Escort I had. LOL!

The MB-inspired wheels aren't my favorite, but the truck looks good. But I wish they could've given it a variant of the 2.3L for more power and performance to match the aggressive looks. And price...😢
I own a 2023 Mav w/2.0 AWD/4K/BO and love the power/speed of my truck which is rated at 250hp/277fpt. It seems odd that FOMOCO lowered the hp by 12 to 238hp. I’ve heard the trans on models prior to 2025 is actually rated for only 240hp so maybe that is a factor for the change? Or maybe an ST version is in the works and the lower hp ratings on the other models will appear to make the ST seem like a higher increase in hp to future buyers. My Mav runs to 60 in just under 6 secs, so it’ll be interesting to see how quick the new Lobo is with new hp and driveline changes. Looks nice. Reminds me of my 2010 Sport Trac Adrenalin 4.0L (205K miles) that I sold when I bought my Mav. Would’ve bought this if I’d been able too.
Another reviewer of the 2025 Mavericks noted that the fuel for the rated HP went down to 87 octane, down from 91 octane for the 250 HP with the 2024 & earlier.
HP was lowered due to some gas particulate filter which reduced it by 12

238hp and the word “Performance” should never be used in the same sentence. How can it be a “performance” version when it makes exactly the same hp as the non-performance versions with 1 less gear? 0-60 eventually
The Maverick fucks, it’s a start for the C2 platform and it’s only in its 4th year of production, it’s more so made for the auto cross scene rather than track scene and the Feista ST had 197 hp, and the Focus ST had 252 hp
I have normally only done Autocross in BMW’s exclusively, but I could see myself having some fun in one of these given my experience with a Lariat driving it across a few states.
@@aquiettime7319 The FiST was actually 197 in temporary overboost though. It was more like 170HP constantly.

Unfortunately it's a trend. Toyota did the same thing with the Camry TRD and 2 or 3 special editions of the Corolla that were little more than body kits and lowering springs.

These damn companies neglecting their new "performance" models is really annoying. The Hornet GLH did it, now the Lobo? DUUUDE! We ask, and it's almost like they try to deliver but they always halfa$$ it, to put it bluntly.
No 2.3 or 2.7 was criminal in this thing. Just like no 2.0T hybrid was criminal in the Hornet GLH.

GMC needs to bring out their version of the street truck. The Syclone was the king of street trucks back in the day.
Had been trying to buy a Maverick for 2 years, best deal I could find was a poverty trim XLT for 35k ($5000 “market adjustment”) at was supposedly an MSRP dealer. Gave up and bought another brand. Same thing happened to me year ago with the Focus RS, again ended up with another brand, for 3k under MSRP opposed to Fords 6k over MSRP. Even for specialty vehicles I refuse to pay over MSRP. It enables dealers to continue predatory behavior. Dealers are still making thousands on sales of every vehicle they sell for MSRP there is no excuse for them to screw people.
Ford your dealer network is going to be your grave.

The Lobo seems like what I really wanted, but I do not like too many things about the 2025s. Happy with my 24 Lariat.
All you need is about 250 horsepower with matching numbers or higher torque and it's the same performance as a 300 horsepower car. I had soooo many cars. Around 250 horsepower in a fairly small vehicle is rocket power. But u all wouldn't know that Gen Z

Ford didn’t mention the exhaust because they stuck a particulate filter on it. It will cost thousands to replace and rob HP and MPG if it’s anything like the diesel filters. Tuning laws will be restrictive.

The hybrid with all wheel drive will probably be the big seller. I think Ford should make the paddle shift trans standard on all trims with the 2.0 liter.

Well now, Ford builds a Maverick that I would actually be interested in buying. But, I'll bet 5 dollars to a donut that it won't be available in the U.S.A. However, one can hope.

Missed opportunity to give it proper power. Fair point about this having tuning potential, but Ford could just, yknow, give it more power. Wheels are a little weird too, but overall it's good that Ford made a trim that recognizes that these are just city trucks and barely any off-road use.
It's mostly just an appearance trim. It leaves them room for an ST version later with more actual power.

Where is the beef it should be atleast 300 horsepower with the 2.3 then we have something to talk about. It looks like a half hearted sport truck effort it has no heart. The Lobo is a all show and no go. Ford really could have came out with something really special.
