when i found out gordo signed that four year deal after the world series, i was cheering and running down the hall at school. forever royal, forever loyal, he’s a real special guy
Hos, Gordo, Moose... After George Brett you guys are my three favorite Royals of all time class acts on the field and off! Thanks for 2014 and thanks for 2015 guys... All legends in my book Royals Hall of famers for sure! Love all three. And to answer your question my favorite Gordo memory the bomb off familia.. my head hit the roof I jumped up so high... Thank you 4.... My good friend Greg Pryor Royals World Series champion in 85 was number 4 too. You guys are awesome!
Growing up my favorite player was Mike Sweeney, but after he left after 07 Alex Gordon became my favorite player. To hear that Mike Sweeney was the guy who took Alex under his wing is just an incredible thing to hear.
After he retired he was coaching his son's game at 3&2 Baseball at a field next to where my 12 yr old grandson was playing. My grandson jacked a 3-run dinger and Gordon autographed it!
Man I miss watching Gordo play left field! The dive into the stands in Chicago, the ceash into the wall in the ALCS, throwing out runners with his cannon...take your pick! Just waiting on the statue in the left field concourse.
Gordo will forever be my favorite royal. Moose, hos, esky, yordano, wade, too many to name. Those years bring a neverending smile to my face. Moose talkin s@#$ to Noah when he threw at esky's head 1st pitch I'll never forget.
That was generational. What a great job Dayton Moore did get you guys together. And seems like Ned Yost was right there for it all as well. I personally don’t think he gets enough credit.
As a lofe long KC sports fan, the 2015 Royals are my favorite team of all time. Obviously, the Chiefs dynasty is the best thing to happen to KC sports, but the 2014/15 Royals was the best total team. Ask chiefs fans who their favorite player is and 9 of 10 will say Mohomes or Kelce, maybe you get a Chris Jones. You ask 10 Royals fans in 2015 who their favorite player was and you could legit get 10 different answers. Gordo, Mouse, Salvy, Hoz, Lo Cain, Esky, Ace, any 3 of HDH. You might even get a Zobrist who was only with us for half the season in 15. Just a special team.
Awesome episode! I've actually had the pleasure of meeting Gordo on a few occasions because I've officiated his son's football, basketball, and baseball games. Gordo is the same calm, cool, respectful guy as a coach on the sideline as he was as a pro athlete. Quick story that I'm sure Godo will remember: His peewee league football team was playing a game at Heritage Park in Olathe, KS - the game was on my field. His son Max took a pretty good shot to the head and was injured on the play. The hit should"ve been flagged; it was a clear foul, but we as a crew completely botched it. No flag was thrown. 🤦🏾 So we're now all standing on the field looking at each other like fools while Max is laid out on the field with an apperent head injury. In most every other situation I've experienced officiating lil league sports ..... when something like that happens, and the refs blow the call, the coaches are immediately incensed. Being that this is his son who suffered the hit and mIssed call, I didn't really know what to expect his reaction to be. Sure enough, Gordo calmly walked out onto the field, scooped Max up off the grass, and took him to the sidelines. He never had a foul word to say to us, not even an angry staredown. He also made sure to shake our hands at the end of the game. That may not sound like anything astonishing, but trust me, it is rarely handled with that type of grace and integrity. ....and to Max"s credit, he shook it off and returned to the game a couple of series later - something else that rarely happens with kids his age after taking a vicious hit like that. Much respect to Alex Gordon. 👍🏾
Gordon is likely the best defensive left fielder in baseball over the last 25 years. They should try to get Mark Teahen on the show. He does a good interview and has great stories. That time in Royals history was interesting for sure.
Sweeney actually charged the mound as a Royal in 2001! I was sitting in right field GA that night and listening on my radio. I was in absolute SHOCK when they said who it was! I was afraid he'd be on his suspension when I went down to watch the Royals play the Rangers in September (right before 9-11) but thankfully he was back.
Royals fans, what's your favorite Gordo memory!?
Either the homer off of Familia or the dive into stands against Chicago.
HR off Familia is one of my top 5 all-time Royals memories!
Probably either the catch diving into the stands in Chicago or WS game 1 homer. We weren't going to lose the WS after that homer, it was our year!
Gotta be the WS Homer game 1. But just watching him play LF at the K was the best. Don’t know if anyone will ever do it better out there
RUNNING STRAIGHT INTO THE LEFT FIELD FENCING WITHOUT HESITATION AND BLOODIED HIS FOREHEAD DUDE WAS A STUD! VOTE GORDO FOR ROYALS HOF 25

I know he was a hired gun, but I was hoping we could have kept Zobrist too.

LITERALLY MY 3 FAVORITE ROYALS!!! LET’S GOOOOOO! 💙
Looking back now you three are true professionals during and after paying ball. Thank you for helping Bobby and the boys
I freaking miss you guys and that era of the Royals. What a great time to be alive to experience everything you all had accomplished
I love these three. Hoz Moose Gordo. Best podcast ever.

Fantastic show! I will always cherish these memories and the feeling of happiness you brought to me as a long time fan. Thanks for doing these for us.

Great pod boys ✊🏾

I was also at Gordo's debut. I remember the result of the first AB, but what a great career!! Thanks for the memories!

Great stuff !
Gordoooooooo. Yes thank you Hoz

From 2011 to 2020, the only two years he didn't win the LF GG were 15 and 16.
Loved watching these dudes
Mike Sweeney is my favorite baseball player and Gordo might be number 2 so hearing how he took Alex under his wing is awesome.
Great stuff! When I think of pine tar, I think George Brett meets Goose Gossage, and the back of Gordon's jersey, staining his name.

Best Royals squad!
3 of my Boys!
My Buddy wears a Mike Sweeney Jersey to Royals games. 2 years ago Sweeny saw him ans sat next to him, signed his Jersey for him.
Now I am just gonna think of that collision that definetly would have happened.
❤
Billy Butler next please lord
4,5,6 kids 😂😂
This is the excuse that gordo makes when he strikes out at the plate!
