    I'm amazed no one said Aaron Judge's rookie year in 2017. The main argument for Altuve winning the MVP that year was that Judge struck out too much. Judge has 208 Ks that year!

      I thought of him but didn’t realize how much he had in 2017. I was thinking more recent when he’s had a couple 170 years.

      He set some sort of record for consecutive games with a strikeout in August during a big slump and I’m pretty sure that’s what lost him the MVP, Altuve was consistent throughout the year while Judge was not. You don’t have to agree with the logic that’s just what I think went through the voters heads.

      He prolly lost cause altuve is better :)

    By the way, the best (worst) possible lineup shown at the end would have a combined wRC+ of 116 lol

      Because if you strike out a lot while sucking, you don't stick around long enough to accumulate them.

    Jolly with an all time fumble not naming mark Reynolds or Adam Dunn! Especially with how much he names Dunn in other drafts, this reverse thought prcoess was so fun.

    2017 Judge is the big one they missed, its awesome that he recovered on not being a strikeout heavy hitter later in his career

    • @laserred87

      He still strikes out a ton. He's like never had a full season where he has less than 150. His only 2 seasons where he is under 150 were both in the 140ish range in just over 100 games played. That's still like a strikeout per game. He just hits 50 home runs and also has a .300 average so no one cares lol

    • @superfactorial5717

      he still strikes out quite often
      but his chase and walk rates are just phenomenal

    • @harrisonbaylor1432

      Yeah although he was striking out like every 2 1/2 ABs in 2017 he still has struck out around every 3 to 3 1/2 ABs since then. Some improvement but still pretty bad.

    • @kristopherwilson506

      yeah it would be caught stealing percentage with a minimum requirement. otherwise you get guys like Rickey Henderson, Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, Lou Brock, etc., that have a ton of caught stealings just because they stole a lot more back then

  • @cactusjones9596

    Pitching losses, blown saves, errors are all easy ones. Alternatively, you could do a 'league average' draft for any + stat, where the lowest score wins and how ever many points you are away from 100 in either direction is how many points you get (i.e. OPS of 90 or 110 gets you 10 points)

  • @Zyrchin

    Miguel Sano's career didn't end because he struck out to much - it ended because he didn't do anything else. He chased worse than Baez and refused to learn otherwise, arriving to spring training saying he was going to hit 50 homers then using nothing but the Homer swing on every pitch. He never hit singles on purpose, the accidental singles dried up because of the chasing, and he never really walked enough but stopped walking at all. He consumed thousands of calories in alcohol weekly, ordered fast food daily, had multiple suspicious injuries that sounded like knife wounds, and got involved in suspicious incidents in DR such as hitting a cop with his car and allegedly abducting and beating a person.
    The strikeouts weren't a problem, his personality was.

    • @SisPackAbs

      They wouldn’t have enough plate appearances to be at the top they only played 1/5 games and often were taken out for pinch hitters after like the 6th

    • @abuhrman989

      @SisPackAbs it would be a pitcher only slot so it wouldn't matter if they had 1/5 the at bats. It would just be a cool thing to see and get some forgotten pitchers in the league. Especially if they do it with the team ones where once you pick a team it can't be picked again, you know if it was a HR draft mad bum or greinke would be picked so they would have to work around those teams alittle more plus than every team would be used since there's 27 used at this point which leaves 1 left for each guy

    What about a lineup draft inspired by the videos from Baseball’s Not Dead with the “Most valuable contracts” and “Least valuable contracts”. Just create a system to determine who has the best/worst overall group of contracts based on the contract value to the players production. It’s an interesting concept because instead of thinking for just one year you have to think about the money involved and the production over an extended period of time.

    I feel like a fun draft would be a games played draft with a fun twist: fill out a starting nine WITH the pitching staff y'all draft. 17 players would be a fun draft. Some of the names that pop up in that draft could also be fun, with some everyday 2024 White Sox, terrible Royals starters, etc.

    There were a few solid Astros picks before 2017. Lots of people claimed they went from the team with the most strikeouts to the team with the least because of their cheating but that’s not really true, most of the stats struck out at pretty much the same rate. It was dropping players like Chris Carter and Colby Rasmus and their higher strikeout guys not playing the full season for injuries and whatnot.

    Do a golf style draft where the lowest batter strikeouts win. Set a line that the batter has to have played at least 80 or 100 games in that season (this is to prevent players who got sent down or injured and only played a couple games) (However you could do that too and see who can name a prospect that played in one game and had one strikeout)
