Gday Woody. As a mechanic that has done one of these conversions. The high mount kit from marks adapters is the go. Rh high mount for the factory alternator. And bin the factory delphi ac compressor for a sanden 7h14 ac compressor. Mounted on the lh side. Makes electrics easier as the fuse box it rh side. And ac plumbing is lh side.
As an American, I really wish we had more access to a Supercheap Auto. That windscreen juice would be nice but a few hammers from there would be even better. American hammers are so much bang, not enough squeak. You're doing well Woody,.
as an Australian who lived in america for 4 years i can say that your not missing anything mate, ide give up supercheap auto in a heartbeat for access to napa and harbour frieght (which is pretty much the same quality as supercheap), if you go to supercheap and ask for a water pump you would be super lucky to get it in 3 days maybe a week, when i was in the states NAPA would have everything by lunchtime haha :P If you want a supercheap hammer just for the lolz i can send you one haha
@@solomonould5538you don't go to super cheap for parts mate it's for stuff around the car. Go to a real supplier for parts, bursons, Repco, Autobarn if you're desperate for something common etc.
Preventative maintenance, always a good thing. The workshop seems set up well. Nice to get advice from the comments section, and great that you're not too proud to admit that you are following them up. Cheers Woody
Such a good combo! I wired up the basically the same swap a couple years back in NZ. LSA in a patrol. Tuned to 550hp at all 4 wheels. Been towing diggers as a daily drain layers vehicle for 2 years now.
woody maaaate rated lifting straps are cheep as chips grab your self a crisp $100 dollar note and go get your self a few lifting straps and a couple d-shackles and leave the ratchet straps for tieing loads on
What’s wrong with an old Tow Rope? 😂 I wasn’t all that impressed either but wanted to get the job done when I had friends available man! The ratchet strap was just for balance anyway, it didn’t have much weight on it..
Using the commo ute shell as a drift build for the channel is a cool idea. More cool stuff to film a build for the weekly show. Yes I said show. Your my Wednesday night viewing. "content" is beneath Skid Factory goodness
Only problem is there located on the Sunshine Coast as am I. closest track that does drift days is Queensland raceways, around 2.5h away. Everything else has either closed down or been destroyed
Good to see you wearing a mask woody. As someone with occupational asthma I always cringe when I see you tubers grinding back auto paint or inhaling grinder dust with no protection. Once you get sick you never get it back. Take care of your health. This is a sick build my friend and that patrol is a weapon! I wish we could do chassis extensions like that in my country but I doubt it would ever be passed inspection. Keep the kids coming You are doing a stellar job even without Al
My wife tells me I'm a d**khead, but I'm all about the positivity - keep up the great work Woody! Really enjoying the new space, new content and top quality vids
Woody without the watchful eye of Al is chaotic. Over spray and skipping easier maintenance when it's out of the car. It's ok Woody, we get to watch you learn again, and it adds to the content.
Stoked on all the new content, filming style and vibes mate, feels like the camera is just one of the boys hanging out in the shed, so sick 👌👌 I have a question for you, what sort of mig do you have for work like this? I'm upgrading so interested to know what you use. Cheers
In my LS 80 series, high mounting the ac compressor and alternator is the only way to go for space and also for longevity from mud and water. Tell Dave to carry a couple of spare idler pulleys as no matter what brand they don’t like mud and water repeatedly. With wiring get Al to do it if possible as there’s a guy around up there that I used I which I would not recommend to anyone
Good to see you were able to swap the chain tensioner to the Batman\bowtie. Cam retainer plate would have been a good idea to as the seal on them goes flat and you can lose oil pressure through there. Loving the swap. LS3 for the drift ute?
Woody is that a ati balancer install / removal kit? It would be awsome if you did a small vid on that. Apparently the ati balancers are tolerance fit and need to be heated up prior to install and sometimes even honing is required as well as the ati install kit. Especially jz seem to be notorious for this. A quick vid on this topic would be awsome man!
Forgot which brand it is but just a balancer removal / installation tool, I just welded the old crank bolt to the end of the thread. Some Aftermarket balancers require honing before fitment. Im not a fan of heating a balancer though, I feel it would potentially ruin the bonding
Good to see you delving deep into it woodpecker! If you have that LS variant engine out again have a look at replacing the barbell cheap oil pressure insurance just my 2c 🤙🏻
Normally don't like the look of chassy extensions on a gu but how ever did this one mad it look really good. Great video can't wait for the next episode in the series
Did you say Supercharged?? right on! Finally!! 4x4 is low end power.... auto is best for offroad too, less chance of breaking your running gear... the transmission fluid acts as a dampener..
I think I would have done a chassis notch each side to fit the air conditioning compressor and alternator rather than industry standard hammer clearance work 😜
My boss did the same air lines around out new shop looks so clean compared to the diy cheap set up we had at the old shop that was just hose with connectors all over the place that leaked we also went with Grey reels with blue hoses to keep it looking good and the same with the paint scheme
Yeah, nah, yeah, kicking ass Woody! Really looking forward to seeing you rip Kevo the dickhead down the strip! Workshop is coming along nicely, hope a local artist sees your channel and throws up a nice mural on that back wall! 😍
Idk if it is true or not, but heard the canyon/Colorado accessory setup are very narrow and up high because the engine bays are narrow in those trucks for the V8 version (old body, not new ones that are out now) because they were mainly all inline engines.
I’d love to be apart of this, like Tom is doing side quests and little jobs. Toms lucky to work along side people like you. Keep it up woody, hopefully turbo yoda isn’t gone for ever tho
Woody on a Holden Commodore VL Factory turbo is the harmalick balancer meant to completely tightened up or left loose and when the car runs it woobels . so i'm asking is it meant to slightly loose and woobel or really tight mate ?
You just have to upgrade the cam and valve train whilst you’re at it. Especially Valve springs. Love the build though. Would love to see a VK56VD in there.

Legend, forgot to read the fine print and didn’t realise it needed to be relocated, got that marks kit on order
Marks twin high mount kit is definitely the way to go. Also their fan hub adaptor kit is awesome too.
@@theskidfactory hi i have done same conversion in the 4wd about 4 years ago all parts from marks 4x4
same 4wd
As much I miss old grumpy and wise Al, I love seeing Woody killing it with these videos. Cheers from Finland and keep up the good work!

No point trying to hide anything! I’m just a bloke working on some cars with my mates. If I can take any advice from the audience of course I will!
While a blown LS will easily tow a trailer, it will drink like a fish. Those are going to be some wild fuel bills compared to the diesel.

I'm not a 4wd fan but great video and I'll tune in next week to see the progress. Should be a great tow vehicle when it's finished.
LS, check, supercharger, check, Nissan patrol check, my kind of vid
Legend woody, cheers for bringing us along!
Good job Woody.
It's tonnes of effort filming the challenging jobs you are doing not to mention the editing.
Keep it up as it's great content!
So heartwarming to see the genius that was made with Al’s guidance (and discipline)
Well done Woody!

Thanks for stopping by man!
Great work as always woody. The seat tracks you’re after are made by hurricane fabrications.

Glad to see the thorough cam shaft cleaning at 1:33 😂
Absolutely loving all the support and postivity youre getting! This build is going to be epic when its done too. Keep it up!
Great work brother!
I'm getting pretty excited for the full builds which I'm sure are in the works.
She's lookin good mate. Keep up the great job.
Thanks for the details on the build
Keen for the next episode man, and Kevin!. You need a partner in crime, I really loved the banter between you and Al and I miss it honestly.
Supercharger itself is nearly worth more than the rig. Can't wait to see it rippin
Preventative maintenance legend
Was excited to hear that we’re going to see some more progress on Kevo!!

Loving your work Woody. Wherever you finish an episode, it doesn't matter. It just creates anticipation for next week!
Good stuff woody. Looking forward to some skids in the wood factory.
That was really nice of Bars Bugs.. Good on you guys. Great video Woody, thanks bruv.
"How good is the Toyota powered sling?" Better then the nissan powered patrol 😂
Gold bruv 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's drift car spec with broken rear view mirror

@slade-runner6773 what was skipped?
@@danielbyrne9686The cam sensor and chain tensioner, that he humbly admitted that the comments pointed out in the previous episode
Another nice one Woody and the crew, should be nice when all finish... Congrats with the new shed, looks awesome 👍
Love your work Woody!!
Amazing long format episode!!!! Loving the "whatever happens this week" setup!
another great episode woody. waiting on parts is just what happens doing stuff like this. roll on the next episode
love your work Woody. see ya next time.
I really miss the og skid factory music. That grungy slower guitar track was sick. I still have it playing in my head.
great ep woody!

Excellent shaft polishing work on that cam. Anyone who is anyone knows that you need to polish your shaft if you’re gonna be blown.
Preventative upgrades 👌

The optimistic additude to get the job done, but the realistic of knowing that with Cars, shit can go sideways pretty quick
Thanks Woody!

you can buy a holley air conditioning pump bracket kit which takes a sandon a/c pump. it bolts down low as well. cheers.

@theskidfactory ok cool. doesn't an ati balancer have a removable hub? So you only heat up the hub not the bonded part.
Doing an awesome job Woody! Can't wait to hear some whine!
Did you put a new cam retainer with new gasket in it? Those old ones get flat and will bleed off all your oil pressure
10:50 time for an engine leveler, Woody! You are doing a bang up job!

Histo fit the ute with a 186, trimatic, and bench seat.
that's a sweet build, keen to watch. thanks woddy.
I hope you get the vf it would be great to see you do something with it and don't worry about the negative comments mate
I think I would have done a chassis notch each side to fit the air conditioning compressor and alternator rather than industry standard hammer clearance work 😜
Put the wheel nuts back on the studs, won't lose them then.
🤔 good point 😂
Hurracan Fab for the seat adapters
Do you know if they will fit VF seats ,they say only fit ve ?
This build is awesome
I herd Australia has the best blowers in the world can’t wait to hear this thing running
Woody the work shop look awesome Bro. Noice work
Thanks!
Keep it up champ, thanks for a great ep 👍
Imo turn that ute into a barra powered driff missile 🤣
I keep thinking how cool/also how much it would piss people off by putting a Barra in the commy ute 😂
Suits it being a flood car too!
It will be awesome, a friend done the same conversion in a 80 Series.
I love the squeeky dog toy every strike of the hammer😂 tool companies should make that a thing
Thats's going to be a thirsty beast.
