This is exactly what I want to do to my GQ. Loving watching this build.
@@theskidfactory absolutely! As soon as the TB42E dies. Just keeps going! 470,000ks and still putting all 4kw to the ground. 😂
@@jarrodbarker537I bet you're being nice and actually have 4.6kw hiding under the hood.
@@danielwitham1791oh absolutely I was being modest when catering for driveline loss. Haha
The patrol turned out killer
It's hilarious how well Woody fits the overlander driver stereotype with that outfit, stache, hat and dad bod. 😁😜🤘
But who cares about looks - the most important part is that this Patrol boogies and makes all the right noises. 😎👍
Starting to feel like The Skid Factory again! You've put in a lot of work Woody, I'm excited to see what's next!
I bet its a blast to drive
@@theskidfactorythat's a YES!!!with a caviet: she's F'n crazy to drive!
I admit it's taken me a while getting use to not seeing Al's face...I'm slowly getting over my brain fart and warming up to the new format....I never doubted Woody's skills or being the face of the Skid Factory...in fact seeing Woody spread his wings and kicking goals is awesome and Im here for the long haul....nice results 600hp nothing to sneeze at in a patrol...oh by the way UP THE BLUES ya red neck 😂
Me too. The whole "I'm having a few of my mates over to help wrenching" style is starting to grow on me.
Woodrigos, the best caliper hooks are the hooks that the parts store uses to hang exhaust pipes on their rack. They kind of look like if you drew a heart, and then cut it in half down the middle. Ask them for a couple of those.
Very well done Woody, smashed it out of the park, Dave is sure going to be one happy dude with that bus. 👌🏻
How is the twitch on Ky’s hand when he was in the passenger seat. Dude is tuning even when he isn’t!!
Those numbers are mental for a 4wd.....
I run Dobinsons shocks and will be hopefully upgrading my torsion bars etc when I finally get back to Rockhampton. I currently have a dead transmission that I can't afford to fix, so it'll be a while.
Sounds Whiny ;) Love it Woody👌
I'd love to see the fab work in detail that goes into a ute/chassis chop
Same here! There’s a bit that goes into it, maybe I can tee up a project in the future?
@@theskidfactory I know you've been talking about working on a subscriber's car, i have a 1hdt 80 series that is begging to become a dual cab ute and 500mm longer hahaha. Thanks mate you're a legend
really ope this beast gets a serious brake caliper and HD pad upgrade. is now 3Tonne rocket
Nice video series Woody.
Great car build.
ooh yes .. that looks a brilliant tow rig
Loved the patrol build woody. R134A is used in commercial like fridges etc. Not automotive only like Miller said.
From the states absolutely drooling over your 4x4s. Maybe I need some Dobinsons for my D41
Bridging pins 15 & 21 at the factory ecu connector will get your aircon sorted. It's a cummins thing too!
Just grab the signal from the ac comp pressure switch and daisy it to the fan relay
Bloody hell that sounds nice. 🔥
Rowdy! 🤘😎
Great result.
Love it! Awesome project!
on my patrol I used the original power circuit that went to the A/C fan on the front and took the 12v from that and piggy backed it onto the power cables to the rad fans. so either the ECU turned the fans on and off as usual and the Nissan side would turn the fans on according to the A/C needs. works a treat. the only issue if you can call it that is it runs much cooler as the a/c pulls the fans on more than what the engine coolant needs, but that's what the thermostat is for.
What's for dinner? I'm having Mapo Tofu!
most times e38 isnt bad, whew gotta love stock ecu's
Another unsuspecting V8 conversion, on the Road to scare a few 200 series. But here's a question, now I know it Petrol vs Diesel, but what was better to Drive, Al's 12 valve Cummins swapped Patrol or Dave's Blown LS.. 🤔🤔🥰🥰
Good to see you got the AC working. Love Al but his aversion to AC was worrisome.
Not so much an aversion as a deeper rooted love for keeping stuff simple.
Biggest Mario and Luigi moment with the close ups and them seedy moes lads! 😂😂😂
are you trying to be the best 4x4 Chanel cause you may have some competition 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yo Woody, if you guys are after a mad 6L80e converter for blown and turbo combos, speak to Shift Right in Sydney. He can get modified stock converters done with roughly a 2800 stall and is a large body converter so is good for towing etc... I have one in my turbocharged VE HSV, best thing I got for the gearbox!
Elite to see there are blokes out there with an airbox worth more than my whole car 😂
Justice Der 🎶🔥
I love supercharger whine, the only whine that sounds good.
Wife whine, not so much... 😂
Love the whine my little twincharger does.
I've got a old sprintex m90 setup that I will be putting on the 190kw sv6 engine that's in my rodeo. More whine ftw..
Love the 4wd content, I’ve got a TB48 GU that needs turbocharging and tuning, you keen?
if you still have the gu fans on the front and the patrol ac system is in place you can keep the ac working on the car side by just bridging 2 wires under the dash which keeps the fans and hi/lo switch working. we do this with barra swaps
otherwise im pretty sure you can get a canbus module for ac input and a few other signals from AGT engineering
Not sure if Kye will read this, but Woody said it’s more time consuming to tune a stock ECU compared to a Haltech.
I’m curious to know l, all things being equal, no issues etc, how much more is it to tune?
Great results for the project. Road car guy question - What do the bags inside the springs do?
Basically up your spring rate when you're heavily loaded.
Iis a common mod on vehicles where the payload varies. Many people upgrade to stiffer springs when they modify their 4wds for touring. But then they're much to stiff when they don't have all their overland gear in the car. So the bags are a good compromise. You choose your springs so they work good when the car is unloaded and then use the airbags to support them when you carry lots of stuff.
(If you always carry heavy loads stiffer springs without airbags are the way to go because they're more reliable/you have one point of failure less)
nice vid again m88
I always wanted a patrol but I always said it’d be cool but if I tore up a TD42 how would I get parts in the USA? Looks like I just need to stuff a LS in it lol
Great power. Remote Australia or even 2 hours out of Cairns there is no 98 fuel so diesel for the 4x4 for me.
Need to ask the hard hitting questions. Where did you get the souvlaki from? 😂
Where is Alan, why is he not in the latest repair videos?
Tuner Studio for those GM computers isn't it? Sounded good though :)
This was a big car with a big engine. I hope the next build will be a very small car with a very big engine. Something super sketchy that will scare the pants of sane people :P
✔
love it
I daily drive a 07 hsv, I can’t imagine how much it drinks in a heavy patrol, every 4 days servo fill up😂
Waiting for the Kevo build
Sandblasting a part your about to tig is one of the worst ways to prep, it brings in so much contamination. Sick built though.
I had a LS 6 litre in my 80 series on 33’s 5 speed manual na 300hp connected the safari snorkel to air box and dropped the HP to 250hp
naturally aspirated engines are much more subsceptible for intake or exhaust. But 50hp is still a lot. I would've guessed 25 - 30 lol
hmu if you need a hand getting the tap up tap down, ac set correctly, done it before in a gu/ls swap, all works much better with an ls1 compressor and di wiring harness, ps you need the ve/vf bcm for tup/tap unless you reprogram the tcm for analog input, pm for more info.
I was hoping you'd remove the snorkel and give it a rip(and a mode on the pad!).
Sounds fruity as, nice build.
Get a hold of Nigel at canbarra did a module for me to over come the same aircon problem
Yum yum!
Woody any chance you know what kinda fuel economy the Ls gets in a patrol?
How are the wheel horse power affected by aircon pumps?
Nah mate the Patrol Factory was a good series 🙏
This next to The Drift GU.
👌
How much for the coils woody?
So factory 200 series oem air filter is better ???
OEM better. What's 5hp above 5500rpm worth when paper is maintenance free and captures a lot more dust than a K&N
It was less than 1% difference. In that case you should be thinking about maintenance frequency, cost, convenience, engine life, etc, etc.
I fitted a Donaldson PowerCore replacement airbox & filter reportedly flows more air & 99.5% dust removal to my LC200. I am interested to check after 40k or so.
I don't know much about these V8s but is that belt tensioner supposed to wobble like that ? Look at 3:03 on the video
You need to sell that sbox pajero and buy a 105 landcruiser im so glad I got 1 and not a patrol so much more comfortable
This Channel is just Woody putting LS's into things now. Atleast Yoda have some creativity with his engine choices.
There are numerous factors to consider here - main one being that Yoda had a number of different Japanese engines 'lying around' that he had accumulated over the years to use in different projects. A little bit harsh with that criticism buddy.
You put the engine in that the owner of the car wants. If that turns out to be the same (general type of) engine for a few cars in a row, then that's how it is.
Bin those airbags,
Worst thing you can do on a 4wd tourer.
(Airbag man makes stupid comment otherwise)
Airbags ftw.
High maintenance sure, but makes a car sooo much more versatile.
Yeah, LOL 😆
Highly versatile at bending/breaking axles, chassis, and spring mounts!
🤦♂️
@@leonwayne7657 if its used incorrectly sure. Like anything really. Nothing is nuff nuff proof.
Polyaire bags work great. I have fitted them to two of my cars already, and will fit them to a 3rd car soon.
Petrol Tow Rig.....
Comment
6l80e wont last long and stock converters are garbage
🚙=car. 🛻=not car. AKA truck.🤦♂️
Got it, so anything that isn't a car is a truck.
Today I learnt that my pet dog is in fact a truck.
Definitely not a truck. Anything you haul your family around in comfort is not a truck.
A truck is one of those vehicles that deleivers pallets of beer.
Get the difference ?
Best tow car VW tourag V8 5.000$ best towing beast huge brakes heaps power it would sit on 130 with skyline 8 wheel jerry cans full of fuel up hill easy as and iv never driven a 4x4 that come anywhere near the VW towing or got grunt
While 4wd's aren't my favorite content I'll still watch because I enjoy most things cars and tinkering with them. Plus, Woody is a legend.
❤❤❤ thanks mate
And it's a blown petrol V8!!! Not a reliable, low revving, low hp inline 4 or 6 cylinder diesel.
I think most of us just enjoy the tinkering nature of any and all projects that the boys have done. I know it certainly reminds me that my misteps and mistakes no matter the thing I’m ruining for purists aren’t that big of a deal. 4x4 - race cars it’s all a good laugh and a great way to find inspiration to keep plugging away
We all know the best 4wd channel on the internet is MCM. Woodie is a close second.
