Absolutely the highlight of the weekend. It was a teenage dream come true to see GQ compete on the BHS stage. They look so comfortable onstage wearing combat boots and skorts (with pockets) and are absolutely crushing it. Can’t wait to see where the future takes us.

One of the great happinesses of my life is to be alive in the time of this brilliant foursome and to have witnessed them performing live so many times.
Three thrilling sets which gave me chills and tears. I was so happy for these deserving, wonderful young ladies. Nice to see the earth is still on its access after women were allowed to compete in the BHS competitions.
When I watched the documentary 'American Harmony' like ten years ago as a barbershop novice, there was this nerdy kid during the credits that cited all 75 past BHS champions. Some years later he is the ultimate badass barbershop arranger. Patrick Mcalexander, you sir are already a legend. And have such an awesome quartet perform it like the way they just did, that is just insane.
Out of all GQ performances I've watched online, I think this is their absolute best IMO and its tough to pick just one to be sure. As a complete side note and because I've seen a handful of times they've collaborated with a few male quartets, but the more I listen to a couple of their songs, I would almost kill to see them do some kind of arrangement together with Forefront that underscores and fuses both groups' excellence with snappy/jazzy style songs.

Wow, what a song! The quartet is a powerhouse and a force to be reckoned with. My quartet competed with them in the under-25 competition in San Antonio back in 2008, and they won! However, I don't believe they competed as GQ, but they deserved the placing and more. They are incredibly talented, that's for sure!

Originally as a quartet, they sang as these parts. A few years ago, for their new songs (or most of their new songs?), the baritone (in this song Katie G) and lead (in this song Ali) switched because IIRC the lead (Ali) had some vocal chord health issues. So depending on what they're singing, they'll switch. They're switched for the other song from their finals set, for example.
This happened only two hours from where I live, and somehow I missed it. At least I can see some of the performances on TH-cam. Thank god for the Internet...

@@olliew3223 Pitching, I agree makes little or no difference, but voicing? Just because you put a C7 in the right place, but the basses end up hanging onto that low, tenuous hard to tune 3rd doesn't necessarily make it as attractive as a tighter C7. I know SAI arrangements are modified (or completely arranged) with some say better voicing for singers at that pitch, but that changes the nature of the definition of suitability for the BHS music category. Just my 2 cents. :-)

music category isn't what it used to be...alot of non-lead solo-so what?...alot of non-bbshp chords-so what?
This is a female voicing yes, but it’s very borderline contestable in SAI. The BHS has way more relaxed Music category rules.

Just because you put a C7 in the right place, but the basses end up hanging onto that low, tenuous hard to tune 3rd doesn't necessarily make it as attractive as a tighter C7. I know SAI arrangements are modified (or completely arranged) with some say better voicing for singers at that pitch, but that changes the nature of the definition of suitability for the BHS music category. Just my 2 cents. :-)
@@svengilson RE: GQ and MUS. In none of their songs was MUS their lowest score and in 2 of their 6 songs (including this one) it was their highest scoring category

I don't like the song (the second verse just doesn't gel for me) ,but the singing is fantastic
