I have always thought that this quartet was in a league of their own. My mind boggles trying to take in all that they deliver with such heart, togetherness, musicality and love. So glad to be alive during the GQ era.
@@tunesquicklee they are calling out the AIC for not letting them compete in the "main" competition... instead they need to compete in the women's competition.
@@TheZaganOstia, close. They were calling out the AIC, who up until that point had not voted to allow women champions into their association, and some of the members were actively, and very vocally, lobbying against it. (Their bylaws were full of the word "men" and these vocal members had made it clear that they wanted to remain men-only.)
@@AnnieMac608 I hope it won't be long until we look back at these attitudes the same way we now look back on racial segregation and discrimination, it's shameful and a loss for the world of Barbershop that it there seems to still be this kind of gender exclusivity at the highest level. I'm very happy about BHS opening the contest doors to everyone and not going for a separate contest model that would fragment this community more. It's a great step forward and I hope that more will follow. :)
THE ENDING OVERTONE. I love rewatching it concentrating on a different one of them each time. Their facial expressions and body language and changes in tone are just perfection because it's true authenticy with just the right amount of extra "show" vibes on top. Perfection for a pun-y song with some truth bombs dropped along the way. "Set the scene to ring, no strings, for everyone who loves to sing." Brava, GQ, brava!!! P.S. to the bass Katie Mac, we see you, girl, we see you.
The way they stand straight at the end is such a subtle yet powerful move. It really hammers home that 'mic drop' effect. Huge credit to anyone involved in this creating this masterful performance.
I constantly find myself back here too! I’m starting to think I might represent at least 10k of the 24k views at this rate 🤣 Just so phenomenally good 🎶
Gave me goosebumps and left me speechless, GQ's one of the few groups to do that, not to mention they're hilarious too. Next year champs, I'm calling it
I've been hooked on GQ since Day 1- so exciting seeing them at BHS!!!! Thanks for the LGTBQ shout-out: that truly took guts and we all thank you for it
Everybody knows the most important part of the quartet is the legs!! Some quartets are deficient. But with GQ there can be no criticism! The tenor, bass, and lead are absolutely harmonious! And, of course, it should go without saying, all baritones have the right kind of legs for good harmony!! I love GQ! I'm always afraid they MIGHT win! Then we wouldn't get to see much of them after their year of reign!! Is there a solution to it?!! - Just kidding ladies. I've always loved your performances! I hope you keep singing forever!
@@AnnieMac608 Well...did you actually read the whole post? My handle is not haymaker, it's heymaker, in honor of Willie Mays, the "say hey kid"! And I can't believe you thot that my kidding them was in any way derogatory to them. But think about BHS and everybody in short shorts. I love Instant Classic and Vocal Spectrum, but I don't really want them to proclaim equality by showing off their legs! @@heymakerphd1982 Of course. I read (and understood) every.single.word. By saying their legs are "the most important part of the quartet," you reduce them to a physical characteristic, which immediately diminishes them. How about keeping it about the brilliance of the music and performance instead?

They had cut about 4 minutes of applause out of this
"The one for women"
Perfect pause for audience reaction.
Amazing!
can you explain the joke? the audience found it extremely funny but i was just confused.

We all love Katie Mac! She's the reason GQ is one of the few barbershop quartets that don't need a pitch pipe.
After who knows how many times watching this, I think this is my favorite ever barbershop performance

Why don’t the women do trios? It seems to work better for some reason.
What?
@Tj Trolley sorry, autocorrect . I meant trios.
Because this is Barbershop. Barbershop consists of 4 parts.
@Tj Trolley yes but women sound better in three parts and they have a history in trios. Just doing because that’s the way the men do it is stupid.
