    I just installed mine today. 85"H on a shower, no tub. The factory instructions are arleight, but you still need to use your nugget and common sense as they are not perfect. Kohler says to install the bottom threshold 1/8" away from the front edge. While it might work in some situations, it didn't in mine as I would end up with the mounting screws in the literal edge of the drywall of the side walls. I used the bottom threshold with the door guide to position the assembly in the middle so that the edge supports were being secured to the studs. That being said, everything else went really smoothly. Big shout out to my 16-years-old son Max for landing his muscle with the very heavy glass panes.

    Nice video Joe!! Thanks for sharing! In the video from Kohler for the Levity Sliding Glass Door, they indicate that the base needs to be at least 3" wide to mount this door. My walk-in shower is only 2-5/8". Do you think 2-5/8" would be adequate to mount these sliding doors vs the 3" suggested width of the mounting surface. Thanks!

      The guide at the bottom would hang over the inside edge but other than that it would work.

    Thanks for the video! Wondering if it needs to screw wall jams and the cleat to the stud?

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wall jambs are nonstructural and only help keep water in, so they don’t matter. For the cleats that hold the rail and the glass it can be a good idea to have wood behind to screw into but if you have good porcelain tile it’s not necessary. The tile will transfer the load to the backerboard that is secured to the wall.

    I just bought that style toilet, haven’t got it install yet. Can u tell me how to repair holes in tile? The contractor workers drilled holes then moved door. I can see that caulking in my beautiful tile🤦🏾‍♀️😩. Thanks for sharing

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A color match caulking is a simple option. If you want it fixed like new, you’ll need to remove and replace the tile with the holes in it. There are some good videos on YT about this. Search removing single tile, replace cracked tile.

      @@JoeMcCoskey i withheld payment until corrected. As I’m texting, the contractor at Home Depot getting replacement tile. My tile shiny n correcting it this way, just didn’t work. They mad because shower was up😩. He should have been here supervising his workers.

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s not a quick fix and that would make everyone upset but if they drilled the holes in the wrong spot, then they should fix it. It’s very important to make sure your drilling holes in the correct location in tile, since removing and replacing the tiles is a pain. I’d say him and his workers can use it as a learning opportunity. Hopefully it all gets worked out for you.

    Awesome guide! Is your tub a Kohler Underscore (it looks like it)? If you used the tub, how did it fit for you? I'm seeing conflicting reports whether or not the Levity can be installed on the Underscore. I've ordered both the Underscore and Levity after seeing a user comment they've installed both. However, Levity spec says, "There must be at least 3" (76 mm) of flat surface on the bath ledge"; Underscore spec says, "Minimum flat for door 2-3/4" (70 mm)". But the tub looks like there's plenty of space with more than 3 inches on the edge.

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a Kohler Underscore. The levity can be installed on it. The tubs ledge looks to be around 3” maybe less like the spec says. The piece that takes up the full width is the guide in the middle. It looks like it goes a little past the flat area on the tubs ledge but that’s not an issue.

    The manual says that a 3" flat surface, at a minimum, is required. It appears as though this would work fine if it's actually less than 3", as long as there's a gap on either side right?

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The manual wants a 3” flat for the center guide width. I think it should be fine if the center guide hangs over the edge a little. I would just install it with the threshold as far to the outside as possible, this will give the center guide as much room as possible, but it connects to the threshold and can overhang inside the tub a little, if needed.

      On mine the holes for the cleats that hold the glass doors are at 54”-55”. I’m not sure what the locations for the side rails were.

    what is the glue or silicone you use on the bottom of the threshold on the tub. i had someone install the door for me and I assume the heat from showering undid the threshold so now i have to put it back on so the door slides shut

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s for a five-foot tub. So, I went with the 56-60 size on width. It measures a little under 60” tall. It looks like they sell 59.75” & 62”. Those sizes are close enough to be similar.

    I can't get my doors to align with top and bottom bumpers. If adjust the rollers and align the top, the bottom messes up and If I address the bottom then top is misaligned. Just wondering if you can shed some light on this issue. Thx.

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You should be able to align one side with the top and bottom, but the walls may not be parallel with each other, so one side would be lined up but not the other. In all reality I don’t think you need to worry about contacting both stops. I would split the difference and get it as good as possible.

    • @nameerss
      @nameerss ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoeMcCoskey You ideally want to align it to the top and bottom of the glass with the wall that its sits against in a normally closed position. Aligning the inside panel with the wall that has your showerhead and controls, while aligning the outside panel with the opposite wall. That will prevent water coming out from in between the panels during a shower.

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They can be replaced but it doesn’t look like Kohler sells them. There seems to be some generic rollers out there. I would measure the current roller size and mounting style / size to find something that matches.
