    I like hearing the perspective you provide to the installation process. The only thing that I can see that could present a problem in the future is the applying of the silicone between the bottom of the tile and the shower pan. Most of the time, this is not done so that any water that was to make it behind the tile and hit the waterproofing membrane can flow down the wall and hit the lip of the shower pan and eventually down the drain. By adding silicone to this area, the water is trapped, and the only way it can escape is by going into any opening into the wall cavity. Hopefully, this never happens to the installation for you.

      @YouCanDoIt2  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi. Thank you for watching the video. The answer is Yes! This system comes with special molly bolts (included in packaging) that would go into the wall if you do not have a stud located where the door framing is being installed. These special molly bolts expand as the screw goes into the wall so that the entire system is still secured. Hope this information helps 👍

    How do you keep the doors closed?

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi. There are rubber bumpers that you install on the side wall rails. They have grooves in them for the glass doors to snug into. The rubber helps grab the door and keep it against the walls for a full closed position. I hope that this information helps you 👍.

    Is there any way to install a delta shower door on a fiberglass shower enclosure that is out of plum by 1 inch at the top. When I Google it, I get references for a tapered filler panel but I have yet to find one I could actually purchase.

    • @YouCanDoIt2

    Good video, I have a similar situation, having to drill through tile walls, but the bottom is fiberglass. I have some Bosch ceramic tile drill bits, but it is very slow drilling through the tile. I don't have the same thing you had with the plastic water deal, but i am spraying with water so the tile doesn't overheat and crack. Unfortunately, one side doesn't have a 2x4 in the wall so I'm going to have to use the dreaded drywall screws for one side.

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nate. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment... always appreciated 👍. Since we were the ones who built the shower enclosure and put 2x4 backing around it, we knew exactly where to install the tracking. Most people end up having to use those wall anchors because of the unknown behind the tile. Sounds like you've got a good handle on your install. I wish you the best ☺️

    What do I do if I cut the top rail an inch to short ? Can I weld it together or do I have to buy a whole new step 2 kit ? Thanks in advance

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. Thank you for watching the video. That's a bummer on cutting the rail too short. If you weld it, you will have an unsightly seam. Not sure if that's something you're willing to live with on a new installation. Also, I don't know if you will have issues opening and closing the door smoothly due to the track running across a welded area. If the weld isn't strong you may also have an issue with structural support. At this point it might be worth giving Delta a call and see if they would be willing to send you out just a top piece. 👍

    Does this have to screw on to studs? I didn't install my tile, so don't know where studs are at

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Art. It is always recommended to screw directly into studs, but I completely understand your situation. The Delta shower kit comes with plastic wall anchors. After you drill the three holes through each side of the tile walls you would carefully hammer in those wall anchors. You may want to run a waterproof adhesive down the back side of the track before you screw it onto the wall so that the entire track is glued onto the tile along with the 3 screws. Hope that makes sense and helps you out. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍

    So I was told it's frameless door meaning no tracks on sides?so how does that work

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi ThisisLife! Thanks for watching the video and leaving a question. So...this system is called frameless...but, it's not totally frameless like some shower doors that only have two hinge points and no frame around the glass door. This system is "frameless" in the sense that the shower glass itself does not have frames around it. Instead, the frame is on the exterior of the glass extending up the two side walls and across the top and bottom. The glass is then clicked into place on a hidden track system in the top piece frame by way of two wheels that attach to the tops of each of the two glass doors. These doors then slide back and forth past each other. If you watch the entire video this would probably make more sense than what I'm trying to convey😄. Thanks again, and best wishes on your project👍

      @@lanceuhde1498 Hi Lance. The system does not come with any tools. It comes with all the supplies needed to assemble the track and the glass doors but not any tools required to attach it to your shower. You will need a drill and a drill bit. if you are purchasing this particular system, you will need step one, step two, and step three. Step One is the glass door choice. Step two is the metal frame choice. And, step 3 is the accessories such as the door sliding pools and the spongy hooks. They come in three steps so that you can choose different types of glass and color and design of your finished shower doors.

  • @johnnyrock70
    @johnnyrock70 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The "cute" drill bit reservoir/guide thingy is waste of time if your tile has a smooth glaze. Adhesive doesn't stick, so then you are trying to hold the thing with one hand while drilling with the other as the water leaks out of the stupid thing. I checked the plumb line using a laser level and discovered that my bottom hole was about 1/4" out of plumb with the top hole b/c the stupid thing slipped as I was drilling.
    (Luckily, this was white subway tile, so some white pre-mix grout hid that screwup nicely.)
    Back to the hardware store to get a regular ceramic tile bit with a tip that looks like the ace of spades. I used a regular 1/8" bit to make a dimple in the tile where I wanted the center of the hole and used that to pilot the tip of the spade bit and that thing went through the tile WAY easier than the cheapo little bit that comes in the package with the useless reservoir.
    Also, if you have the same setup I got at HD, once you have the sides in, make sure to measure the full width between the walls when you cut the bottom track, NOT the distance between the inside of the side side pieces like I did. I ended up having to cut about a 2 1/2" piece off of the scrap when I cut it too short and pieced that in with the tub surround adhesive. That worked for the bottom but would not work for the top, so quadruple measure everything. I used a Disto laser measure, which is much easier (and more accurate) than trying to span that top distance with a tape to get the distance between the inside mounting surfaces.

      You might have purchased the step 2 tracks that are made for bathtub enclosures. Delta makes to complete shower door installs. One is for a shower pan and one is for a bathtub. Both sizes have one two and three steps to them and if you aren't paying attention you might accidentally mismatched the sizes. You might want to take a glance at the box and make sure that you purchased all three steps for a shower pan door install. Thanks so much for watching 👍
