@@BadWisdom523 it's very very simple. According to time travel theory we all have our own miniature time bubble. So we can travel in Earth's time without affecting our own lives. We can go back in time and react with everybody we ever lost in the past.
The cross-eyed part comes when we interfere with history. So you see Austin being cross-eyed about visiting himself Frozen is stupid. He could visit himself and he would not affect himself being defrosted to go after Dr Evil in the 90s. After all he would have no memory of visiting himself.
But if you went back in time and defrosted himself without freezing himself again then you would never be defrosted in 1996 and that's when you go cross-eyed.

@mikebrown7799 but Dr Evil 'killed' him in 1997 for causing Mr Bigglesworth to lose his fur in the unfreezing process. Mini Me then snipes him back in the past in 1969 but he presumably lives through that and the fall and gangrene and whatever else to then be burned and shot later on.
To be fair, we thought Number 2 died by the chair of death and he came back partly scarred

4:39 To be fair, the original plan was for Liz Hurley to return but she was committed to another project when filming was scheduled. But she did have a small window where she was free to film the Fembot explanation sequence and then Heather Graham was brought in to replace her.
Wasn’t she pregnant and that’s why she couldn’t come back?

Addie’s pleading at the coffee scene was amazing
The coffee scene always seems to bring out the most visceral and hilariously panicked responses, it's definitely the one to look out for in reactions to this film
I always look forward to that part of the reaction to this movie. I saw this in a theater, and you couldn't even hear the dialogue because everyone was screaming, "NO, DON'T DRINK IT! NO! AAHHHHH!"

The knife reflecting in the eyes, spinning her around to block the knife scene is from 007 Goldfinger. Probably my favorite gag of the movie.

You have to remember that this movie came out in 1999, so Star Wars was huge at this point with The Phantom Menace having come out less than a month before this movie. And having more '90s references like Jerry Maguire and Independence Day makes sense since Austin and Doctor Evil have been in the '90s for awhile at this point.
The reason Mike Myers can speak in a scottish accent so well is because his dad was Scottish, so he understands a bit of British humour.
Considering he's Canadian he does both English and Scottish accents pretty well
I enjoy his Scottish character in So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993)

I was lucky enough to watch this in the theaters back in the day. 1999 was such an incredible year for movies. It doesn't feel that long ago...
There are so many Star Wars references because it was coming out as the same year as "The Phantom Menace" and they accepted the fact that this would only be the 2nd biggest movie of the year. They even joked about it in one of the promos.
I love how the film completely owns the trope of "we killed off the love interest from the 1st film at the start, so we can have a new love interest in this". I hear "that means i'm single again!" with the music every time it happens in other films now, that 2nd Bourne film haha
The Goldmember cameos are off the charts! So many high profiles stars. You’ll love it, especially the opening scene

Wayne's World (1992) starring Mike Myers & Rob Lowe is a gem of early 90s comedy, totally of its time
That movie is straight out of my adolescence. It had all the S. Ontario slang and general vibe from the 70's, early 80's.

I saw this in the theater when it came out. When the camera panned up to reveal Fat Bastard, I had a feeling that it would be a hilarious name joke. When Dr. Evil finally said it, I burst out laughing and had to leave for a minute to compose myself.
"No we don't need another Dr. Evil" How about an itty bitty one. Yes we need that.
"Im late" ... Scott jumps through portal .... Dr. Evil looks at him and them looks at her ..... 30 minutes later ... wait shes the mom????
@kevinuptz7397 It was actually alluded to in the first one that she is his mother when she prevented Dr Evil from throwing him in the fire pit, and then smiled and winked at Scotty, and over that scene on the audio commentary Mike Myers said she is secretly his mother.
Hard not to get nostalgic about the late 90s watching these films. The humor is "stupid" but it works because of how they unapologetically embrace that humor. All 3 movies were great, but I think this was my favorite one.
Mini-Me and Fat Bastard were just the two most brilliant characters additions! My stepfather was a big guy, so Fat Bastard became his spirit animal, haha.
Rob Lowe tells the story of how Mike addlibbed the entire scene, where he talks about eating a baby, then everything after seeing Mini-me! All the way including the baby back ribs song!
This movie came out in 1999, the summer of THE PHANTOM MENACE, which is why there are multiple STAR WARS jokes in it.

These movies have the cliche of giving the lead a new love interest in each movie. So in my head canon is Felicity lives happily ever after with Austin ten minutes from now and goldmember follows Austin from ten minutes ago.

This 3rd Austin Powers movie "Goldmember" has a huge number of great Celebrity Cameos! (no spoilers). It's my favorite of the 3 films.
This is easily my favorite one. First off, I had a huge crush on Heather Graham, but also, it is the introduction of Mini-Me and it has the best jokes of the trilogy.
Remember Addie, Austin went back to the past. So Will Ferrell did die in the first movie, but he's still alive in this one. And when Doctor Evil and Frau made whoopie, that was how Scott got conceived.
So Austin is Scotts godfather since all this happened because of Dr. Evil taking a sip of Austins Mojo.😆

I absolutely loved this movie, and I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. Heather Graham (Felicity Shagwell) was so perfect in it, the introduction of Mini Me, the various time travel items, and the various other movie references made it so much fun. The third and final movie pulls out all the stops, and is the perfect ending for the trilogy. I can't wait to see your reaction to it! 👍
So glad you got to this! Fairly certain I commented on the last one that I'd love to see your reactions to all of them and that this was my favorite as well! Mini-Me and Fat Bastard are incredible additions to the franchise and the jokes are seriously timeless.
I always theorized that Vanessa was switched when she was caught by Alotta Fagina in the finale and replaced off-screen. She could NOT be a fembot the WHOLE time as she had a mother, the mother was Austin's partner in the 60s. I STILL say that a 4th film could and SHOULD have her return, she was locked away by Dr. Evil and after the events of AP3: Goldmember, Dr. Evil is reluctant yet tries to prevent Austin from finding out.
I still quote this movie all the time at the most random moments. Lol. It's such a well written comedy. I wish they would make movies like this again.
Also, I didn't know I needed to hear Addie say "ROWR!" so much, but I dig it! Lol.
Notice how Fat Bastard's voice and accent are the same ones that Mike Myers later used for Shrek. Just think of how he says "Donkey".

The scene where Dr. Evil throws the globe at Number Two is a parody of a movie with Robert Duvall from the 70s called The Great Santini about an abusive father in the military who torments his teenage son. Not exactly a cheerful movie but still a great movie that might be worth checking out.

The scene that showed the Mojo all over the floor… I thought the original Austin would go back in time for a second time to save it while telling the 2 others to save Shagwell and the earth only to tell each of them to go back for the Mojo and Shagwell respectively.

I have to say that Felicity Shagwell is my favorite female character in the franchise and a strong partner for Austin Powers. Who else could keep up with his sexual energy and inuendo? While this installment is my favorite of the franchise, I will still give the award for best intro sequence to the next film. I look forward to your reaction on that one too.

I like the idea that Dr Evil became a bit of a cinephile after being unfrozen, cause I imagine he has a lot of downtime as various henchmen do things

I think it was this movie where the chair really did go out of control and adlibbed so they adapted the mini me part to go along with it. If not it's a homage to that happening in the filming of another movie.

If you liked the one here, played a little for laughs, then the scene there, played for maximum sultriness, will probably make your head explode, don't watch it.

Rob Lowe and Mike Myers are really good friends and have been since Wayne's World. Before the second Austin Powers script was written, Rob lobbied to be in the next Austin Powers film. Rob had grown up around a lot of famous actors and kids. Many of whom would become actors and filmmakers later. A few of the young people that Rob knew were the daughters of Robert Wagner (Number 2) and Natalie Wood (one of the biggest stars of the 50s and 60s). Even dating one of the girls (not sure which one) led to a lot of exposure to Wagner, who everyone calls RJ. Rob did his best RJ impression for Mike to make him laugh. A few months later, Rob got the script, and the character of the young Number 2 was his.

Even though i prefer the first two, and the shadow scene in this is absolutely hilarious and one of my favorite parts of the movie, the shadow scene in Goldmember is one of the funniest scenes i've ever seen. Can't wait for you to react to that one! Great reaction Addie!
