- I took the sketch from one of my Dad's recent paintings, and created a digital painting in Photoshop. Thought I'd share the process. This one is for you, old man!
I hope you guys like it, thankyou as always for all the love.

so proud of you!
Thanks dad!
I've been drawing and painting for as long as I remember, but now when I'm older and finishing my master degree, I have a hard time to find time or energy to draw. I draw a lot in my education since I study architecture, but I feel drained when I sketch a lot for projects. Watching your videos gives me a lot of energy to pick up the pen and start drawing again, so I just wanted to say thank you
Thanks to you! This is why I do this whole TH-cam thing. I'm very happy when I hear I've given some form of encouragement for others to keep drawing/painting.
Thanks for your videos. Fantastic art
Really nice. Excellent technique. Thank you and nice of you to honor your father.
Great video and thank you for sharing your story!
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful work, both of you!
Thank you very much!
This is gorgeous. Your voice is so soothing as well, Grady! I appreciate you actively trying not to flip the canvas too, it made this video much easier to watch.
Thank you so much! Always glad to hear my voice is okay haha it is still hard for me to click the "publish" button on videos because I am never quite happy with the sound of my voice. I really appreciate the kind words :)
I absolutely loved watching this, and hear you talking about doing art with your dad. And what a beautiful result!
That drawing game you were talking about in the beginning took me wayyyy back to my youth! So glad for you to have that connection with your dad :)
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story this Metaphorical moment thus forward inspired journey.
Thanks for watching :)
I follow your dad on Patreron and love his work. You are an incredible artist in your own right. Thanks for sharing this!
Thank you so much!
Always amazing, and jealous that yo uhave a dad who is also an artist!! that's so cool.
Thanks for watching :)
Love this video and the entire story behind it! Also, you can bind commands to the Procreate quick menu. You can just add the Flip canvas function to one quick menu entry and then you can flip the canvas with just a finger swipe!
Good to know! And thanks for the kind words :)
Beautiful bro 💯🖤
This is awesome. I just discovered your dad a few weeks ago. I am glad he shared this link with his Patreons. I subscribed here, too. :)
Thanks very much! I know what I do may not appeal to all of my dad's viewers but all are welcome here nonetheless :) Maybe I can provide a different perspective at the very least. Thanks for subscribing!
Your art is very inspiring, I'm actually studying your style so i can use it on game concept art, i will follow this style from now on
I love that you collaborate with your dad, I sometimes do that with my mum and it's really lovely! the picture reminds me of Moomin in Midwinter. the animation is very cool too!
Thanks very much! Love to hear that you and your mum share this too. Thanks for subscribing :)
this is really wholesome!
Thanks so much!
beautiful
My dad passed away a year ago due to a braintumor, he was a wonderful man and a very good architect. I am now preparing a exposition to honor him and I selected a few architectural works of him which I am making interpretations of in the form of drawings. This video was very touching and inspiring. It makes me emotional. Thanks for your videos Frederick, I like your art and content alot... very authentic and beautiful. To anyone who is making any form of art, please enjoy it as much as you can. x
Thanks so much for sharing this. I'm really sorry about your dad. Very cool that you are honoring him in this way, I'm sure he'd be proud of you. I wish you all the best :)

If you could please provide some advice and tips on good composition that would be amazing. For me personally I always struggle with how to properly frame and present my idea to convey a specific emotion. And I've seen you do it flawlessly and perfectly. Lots of love and support from my side bro, keep up the Fabulous work❤
Definetly!!
This was very moving for me. My dad passed away suddenly a year ago and there's so much I regretted not saying, and not doing with him.
As an artist myself, the first in my family, I enjoyed this very much
I'm so sorry to hear that... I am so glad you enjoyed the video in light of this. Thanks so much for watching, and I wish you the very best :)
Great art and what a lovely collaboration with your dad.
Thanks so much :)
Oh, Grady. This is so beautiful. The inspiration and your version: both of them. I love them.
A little side-note: I have flip-canvas as one of the touch-menu options in Procreate: so it's just a little slide to the right corner away for me. :-)
Thanks so much :) And thanks for the procreate tip!
Incredible! Love your work man❤
🙌 Thanks so much. And thanks for being a subscriber!
@@gradyfrederickart Sure man, keep it up
Saw this on cara it's sooo good
Love it! Could be fun to draw it in different seasons. I imagine the trees hugging the house in a funny way
Thanks :) I was actually thinking the same thing!
felt so calm....amazing...after working for whole day.watching ur art along with connecting story...felt cozy..🙂🙂🙂🙂
Thank you so much 😀
Gorgeous video Grady. A Nostalgic masterpiece. Always appreciate the time you take with the presentation and music choice.
Awesome work. Very inspiring
Thanks so much :)
I really like how you change the mood of the drawing I wish we got to see the first house in watercolor. I think I can also see the influence of your dad in the other buildings you design lol
Thanks! My dad has a video of his painting of this house here:

@@gradyfrederickart Excellent! it's so distinct!
What a nice meaningful video, to have something that connects you so deeply with your dad, a passion you can really spend time on together. Thats a great thing!
Thankyou :) Yes I've been very lucky to grow up in such an environment.
This is so beautiful and calming! I really love it. How did you make the snow falling? Ive always wanted to turn my paintings into animations but dont know how. Overall amazing video :)
There is a plugin where you can apply the gradient layer to all other layers with one click, really helpful
Ouh cool! To be honest I have gotten so used to the process it doesn't feel as cumbersome as it looks haha Thanks for this though!
Yeah, it went out beautifully. But, man, why from entire house we have only a front walls here?
Thanks! I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean by having only front walls, but I'll try to answer. If you mean why is the house still relatively straight on towards the viewer, it is simply because I wanted the design to remain recognizable as the original drawing. If I were to turn it too much in perspective, it's possible we could lose the main shapes that make it resemble the original.
Okay I guess we're crying today..
amazing video! thanks for sharing!
I really enjoy music in your videos but I find it hard to find similar tracks, do you have any playlists you could share?
Thanks! Unfortunately, I get the rights to my music through a subscription service, and on top of that they are highly edited for the videos so I can't share them in a playlist. Sorry!
Nice! Although based on the title, I assumed your fathers sketch would be an embarrassing doodle. He gave you a great foundation to work with.
Thanks! Yea my dad is great at what he does. My biggest inspiration.
have you ever worked in clip studio aswell? I tried the gradient maps there but they seem rather limited compared to photoshop - or maybe im missing something? im not really used to working with them tbh
I have not yet, but I've heard alot about it. I think I'll try it one of these days!
is your dad a Weasley
Haha as I watched the video back with my wife we were both talking about how it had a bit of a Harry Potter vibe!
I was always interested in art. Now that I bought a pen display tablet, I am too discouraged to draw. compared to these people, my art is nothing. how can I find the motivation to draw, help!!!
I fully understand the feeling. It can be very discouraging. In the end your best results will come if you find your passion and enjoy the process. I would encourage you to keep practicing if it truly interests you. Do not compare yourself to professionals! Learn the fundamentals, and with consistency you will improve over time, I promise. My motivation comes from being inspired by my favorite books, movies, games etc. and wanting to create and communicate my own ideas through art. It keeps me pushing through the hard times full of self-doubt.
If you want to, go watch some of my other videos. I talk about the importance of creating art for yourself first and foremost.
I wish I could be more helpful through a comment, but I wish you the very best in your pursuits. You can do it. Thanks for watching.
@@gradyfrederickart, thank you so much for the encouragement and tips man. hope your father doing well
Sooo i don´t want to tempt you, but you can make a à flip shortcuy on procreate and just swipe in a direction you choose to flip the image
Ouuh very tempting indeed, thanks for this :)
