- It's back! The World's Greatest Drag Race returns with 12 of the world's best supercars and sports cars facing off in an epic quarter-mile sprint for glory... and ultimate bragging rights! This year's field includes all 12 contenders (sorta) from Motor Trend's 2017 Best Driver's Car competition.
We have the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Aston Martin DB11, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, Ferrari 488 GTB, Lexus LC500, McLaren 570GT Mercedes Benz AMG GTR, Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 718 Cayman S, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Tesla Model S P100D-- all gathered together on an 15,000 ft airstrip at Vandenberg AFB to find out which car is the fastest. Obviously these 12 competitors display a wide range of power and performance, so why do we continue lining them up for one, over-the-top drag race?... Because We Can! - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

LFA was in wgdr 1. It didn’t do so well.
T R LFA is more underappreciated due to it not really being in the limelight. Had it been sold more they might still be produced today and definitely would beat most cars on the road if Lexus stayed at development of the V10
@@xoukilong that was a mark 1 gtr with 460 hp or something like that. This gtr has 560 hp i think which would smash the lfa. According to some videos the lfa does the 1/4 mile in 12.5 sec. Anyway i would choose the lfa over any of the cars in this race for obvious reasons ;)

Laugh 25x Teslas, well EV cars in general have absolutely abysmal top-end speed, look at the VW id.r (an electric lmp) and then look at the Porsche 919 evo. Notice how much more top-end speed the 919 has, while being made by the same corporation. There is very little gap in expertise yet the 919 has a highr top speed. The cause is the ICE engine it has. Of course it does make use of a hybrid system but there are a ton of pure ICE power cars that smoke EVs. Most modern supercars and quite a few sports cars have much higher top speeds, maybe even by over 100 km/h. There is also not a real benefit in pollution, due to the high emissions from the mining of the lithium and zinc used in the batteries. On the topic of zinc, many batteries use child labor from Africa, which includes electric car batteries. I do have some respect for the EVs but i think the 12 year-olds portraying them as the second coming of Jesus Christ are a little bit misinformed.

Now yeah I do agree many EVs have much lesser top speed that their ICE counterparts but you do realize that EVs have been in real business for like a decade whereas some ICE car companies have been making cars for like more than a century! It is now that we are seeing so many ICE car companies taking EVs seriously and for many of them it is their first time doing so. Also do you realize that for a lot of people top speeds don't matter because they may not ever even have roads that have such high speed limits so it's irrelevant to them and majority of EVs have enough top speeds to drive without crossing the speed limits. There are several EVs like Tesla Model S Plaid (200mph/322km/h) which have quite high top speeds and insane performance (2.1sec 0-100km/h) which you won't expect from such a sized and heavy practical 4-door family sedan

Should have ran to the half and mile then done break downs at the quarter, half and mile for comparisons.
Even running one mile, you still had another 2 miles left. Waste of a nice venue
They mostly used it because the shuttle runways are the only ones I know of that are wide enough for all those cars to run side by side. It's so wide in fact that a typical small single-engine plane can take off and land on the runway... going perpendicular!
of course they had to stop at the 1/4 mile to protect the pristine and crown the all mighty electric power that is TESLA

Right and I am aware of that, but the way they said 15000 ft made it seem like they might actually use a third of it. They even said something like "if we run them further, the results would be different"... like you have the runway right there to go further lol
15000 ft? Wow, they could have tested the top speeds with that much runway -- the most astonishing thing though is just how damn wide that runway is.

The thing with the GT3 RS in drag races is that it doesn't have enough hp unlike the Turbo S, also it's na. It's a track-focused car. Instead, bring the all-mighty GT2 RS

Think about it, that car had a range of 120 miles in the 1990s era! Where is that battery tech now? All Chevron and Texaco, who bought out NiMh battery companies, and dismantled them.

I had the biggest, dumbest-looking, full-on smile on my face starting at 1:08 ! That is so awesome, and with the volume at 11 it doesn't get much better!
It is all mixed up from different shots - look at 5:04 you see Tesla jumps in front of everyone but suddenly at 5:08 it's the Turbo S that jumps first. At 5:40 you can see Turbo S slows down (Porsche has PDK so it' not changing gears's fault). I think each race showed different result so what you can see is editing shots to match general scores. If it was 1 mile race or even longer Tesla would take one of last places cause it's limited and it would be interested to see!

The Badger The Tesla in that article is a P85D. Not as high performing as the P100D Ludicrous+
Also in that article the track is 4.1 miles long and as the guys in this video said, the Tesla is quick but not fast, so any longer than 0,25 miles and the others catch up.
That being said, the Tesla model S is not a race car. It's a family sedan.

OMG!! I served my 4 years there in airfield management at base ops back in the 1990’s. Huge runway! I remember when Holly came there and used the runway for testing manifolds and other auto hardware. Local area is great for motorcycle and cars with great roads.

samuelzwj huaracan isn't yet Available in the states due to emission regulations, though I can't explain why the other two weren't there

So many wrong things in this race. Different footages(races) edited togherer to look like one race....One footage they show the Tesla launch fist,other shows 911 turbo s launch first. Second,the footage of Porsche slowing down is CLEARLY visible and maybe 488 slowed down as well. Very entertaining to watch but that race was BS ;)

They just edited different drags together because it's very dangerous for them to run at the same time and so close to each other. If one car or driver has a problem, it could cause a huge accident for every vehicle. So they just use movie magic to look like they all raced at the time but the times are accurate.
I wonder how many races they did. You can see that the Porsche 911 didn't launch the first time. Tesla just takes off at 5:05 , then in the next few scenes you see the 911 right next to the Tesla.
They usually do several races and edit them together.

Love the series and idea of the Greatest Drag race but the editing is horrible, to many jump cuts and back cuts can't track any of the cars acceleration peaks.

Tesla will *never* agree to that. Tesla knows their motors can't sustain their power above 5,200rpm, and they know what speed that is with their 9.71 final drive, and they know how much their cars' power drops by the 1/4 mile mark.
Heck, when Top Gear tested a Tesla Model X against a Challenger Hellcat, they never stated the length of the race, and I'm pretty sure it was less than 1/4 mile.
I'm also not convinced the race in *this* video was 1/4 mile.

Where businesses go wrong is when they stray from their core purpose.
Prime example is Mercedes. They USED to be a strictly luxury car company on the retail consumer end, and they've entirely lost focus on that to be "the car for everyone." They've been steadily making cheaper and cheaper models, going further DOWN the price ladder until at this point you can buy a mercedes if your sole income is a newspaper route.

and you can get that type of crazy performance on a middle class salary!
the only other cars that offer that experience under the 150k range that i can think of are the nissan GTR and the hellcat. And a tesla can beat both of them in the quarter mile, and 0-60.

For people bringing up the Demon. It ran 9.6 on a fully prepped drag strip, at sea level, in a 40 degree December evening, on drag slicks, front skinnies and 100 octane fuel. I highly doubt it'd keep up with the top three cars in this race.

Why don't you actually show the race MT??? All those cut scenes were totally staged with cars dropping back randomly and obvious mis-matches in positioning given the final result. In theory showing the race in one cut would only take 11 or 12 seconds of footage. Disappointed
