  • Before rushing off to an adventure in the countryside, it was time to enjoy the high life of Lagos. To do that, we would go to Landmark Beach on Victoria Island. And a familiar face was waiting to join me.

      Good thing you use the subjective word " seem " since it is an opinion coming from you projecting your psycho- sociological particularities on to the blogger you and I can ask whether he has ever been less happy and less natural, less humble and less humanitarian in all the 8 months worth of videos that we might have watched...or we can accept that sabbatical is "what you see is what you get " transparent guy. Nothing in him show and tell that he is out looking for somebody to make him "complete ".... Don't we hear Sabbatical telling one after another of the Africano guys that not HE IS NOT MARRY , NOT LOOKING TO BE..all smiling instead of reacting like many would do in New York saying = mind your own business " lol. In summary if we stop projecting and we OBSERVE & LISTEN, sabbatical is simply sharing with all of us through his camera that happy, whole person he already is, not asking to be told what he's lacking

      @@olalekanolasunkanmi4152 Exactly. The way the Western media portrays Nigeria is depressing 😔. Many westerners think that we all live on crime ridden dilapidated slums. My German girlfriend was surprised to discover that Abuja was just as developed as Berlin, when we visited last month ( her 1st time in Nigeria). She was expecting the worst. Yes there are slums and there's poverty there, but there's also poverty in the richest western countries as well. Here in Munich ( Germany) one of the richest cities in the world, there are a lot of homeless people that are starving in the streets.

    Josey is a lovely person and you are a good dude, Tommy. Your videos remind me of the manner in which I have travelled Colombia over the past four years. Immersing myself in the culture, learning the language, trying out the food, and generally being friendly and generous to the people as opposed to strutting around like we own the place. We see enough of that with other guys posting their travel videos. Practicing humility is key when travelling I believe. Your videos gave me an appreciation for these mainly friendly African people and the different countries you have travelled within Africa, the nuances and the major differences, etc. Time and again we see how making an effort to learn the language is met with surprise and appreciation. Well done my friend!

      I was hoping to find this comment here. That is a truely Yoruba thing to do. That statement is Yoruba cultural hospitality on display.... Maybe someday the Oyinbo guy will understand it.

      Can you explain?

    • @olakunleolatunji
      @olakunleolatunji 3 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      @@A.T.Sickzer Not so easy to explain over text .... When you bring in vistor, the responsibility of showing them around and entertaining them doesn't solely fall on the host, everyone in the community has a responsibility to make sure the guest is entertained. The Yoruba guy in the video has not picked up the hospitality hence he thanked the lady for taking on that responsibility....
      (This is however oversimplified. It goes beyond that).

    • @olakunleolatunji
      @olakunleolatunji 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@africanglobalnomad To be honest, it could be interpreted as this also.
      You know how we employ sarcasm and use "air quotes" in English to mean something ironic?... The phrase can mean that as well, but looking at his gesture and friendly disposition in this video, I don't think he was intending that mean. However it is open to interpretation.

      Ignore the media propaganda. Africa is generally safe and fun to explore, and is pretty well developed and organised, contrary to what we are shown on TV. And the people are just fantastic. Nigerians are a joy to be around. Never a dull moment. Nearby Ghana is also a great country to visit. At some point in the future, Africa will be the place where everyone goes on vacation.

    There is a reason one isn't allowed to film at landmark beach and that is because it's a private beach and alot of people who prefer going there want their privacy. The landmark beach came up with this rule after considering a lot of feedback from their customers. So they are working according to their customers request.
