- A comparison between the voice acting of the original Puyo Puyo arcade game and the (100% legit, thanks Sega!) English version.
I excluded a couple of voice clips, namely "Ikkimasu" and "Oshimai" (from the credits reel) and Carbuncle's "Guu!" The former two have no English equivalents and the latter is the same in both versions.
And no, Rulue has no voice over. In either version. Compile didn't bother to record a new voice (the other characters are recycled from Madou Monogatari 1-2-3) and the English guys apparently ran out of space.

I think the English failed to realize that Arle's a girl.
Considering early games used male pronouns for Arle (she used to be a huge tomboy or something), it's not a completely stupid mistake
But in the English version she's also called Savanah...

The choice of words, "HERE WE GO!!". It's pretty average, but pair that up with how the voice actor exclaims this quote.

Voice acting in video games wasn't really much of a big thing back then, they most likely just got some of the employees to do the voices I would bet.
My main problem is arle. Everyone else is fine
There are just some moments when the English version triumphs the Japanese version X'D here are some of them:

I would say that no one triumphs over the other, because the japanese one is clearly trying to be cute.

Funny thing is, I looked up gameplay footage of Puyo Puyo on SNES and it had subtitles via [CC]. And in the original Japanese version, what Satan said literally translates to "Die!".

English Schezo is actually pretty decent, maybe even an upgrade. He sounds more like a fencer, or master swordsman.
Compile/Sega of America/Europe:Ok people let's get this dub over with like a pancake.
I felt like they hired at least 3 people to do it.
It's more like they tried too hard with the English voices, whereas the Japanese voices aren't nearly as awkward. Sure, even Fever's voice acting was a little rough, but they loosened up (so long as whoever they voiced wasn't dropped).
Arle/Silvana in English version "AAAAAAAAH!!!" screams like she was being abused

I feel like English Arle got the most cut/recycled lines. "Puyo Puyo" got reused as one of the combos, and "AAAAAAAAH" got reused too, not to mention "Oh no!" got reused as well. Was space really that tight?

Aside from one or two characters (Schezo/Devious), I really do prefer the English voices to the Japanese.
Especially Dragon Woman's "GAAAAOOOOAH!"

I beliee context dictates his name to be coincidental. In other words, he may be a dark prince, but he's not the devil, himself. He wouls've been treated as such if that was the case
