My grandparents had this Frosty on their front steps for Christmas my whole life. My brother puts it out now every year as a tradition to honor them. I was received one that was acquired on ebay as a gift and his hat has a crack so was looking for repair ideas. I cant believe there is a video on this exact Frosty! Thank you!
Wow your snowman was in rough shape Great job repairing it the stitching idea is very effective I'm glad I have some knowledge of how to repair these things but your videos gave me a lot of insight so I could do a repair on my bf's snowman I can't wait to see your next video
I am beyond thrilled to find your videos! It’s Christmas Day and I’ve been longing to repair my Santa Clause, mfg’rd in 1955! My parents bought it in 1956, the year I was born. I inherited Santa and collectively my family has enjoyed him every Christmas for 68 years! Watching your videos I realize he should be an easier repair because he has a cardboard backing where the lights are attached, like a light board. (He hangs on the porch wall). Easily removed so easy access for repairs! The base is Santa’s shoes and there’s a hole on the boot where the heel should be. The only other repair is to a piece of holly on one side of his hat. I’m super excited to order my supplies and get Santa repaired. I didn’t see in your video what kind of paint you used? I will be brushing on the paint. Originally Santa’s boots had snow painted on them that has almost all worn off. Happy I can hide any seams by replacing the snow! Can’t wait for your response! I’ll be watching more videos! Next is your snowman. Hopefully, you will share the painting process. Thank you soooo much! This made my Christmas!!!
Hello, Thank you for sharing your story. I love hearing about the restoration of cherished family blowmolds. I air brush my blowmolds with transparent paint. This process allows light to pass through. I am working on an air brush technique video that I will post in January. Please come back to see it. Here is the paint that I currently use. Thanks for watching. Transparent paint amzn.to/48xT97O Air brush kit amzn.to/3RSDF8J
Thank you for the comments and positive input. I will be returning with Frosty part 2 shortly. I will also demonstrate air brush and lighting techniques for blow molds.
I’m trying to repair the white sash on the 5ft Santa. It’s pretty cracked up. All the pieces are there but I need to prop that area up so all pieces fit and stay while I glue them back. Love what you did with the ties. The area I’m working with is super fragile and not sure it will work. I love how you used the glue gun and the heat. Love your videos! Gave me a clear vision on what I need to do. Thank you!!!!!!
Hello, I'm working on the front of Frosty the snowman now. It has large sections missing and is as brittle as potato chips. I will be demonstrating filling in and reinforcing large areas.
Hello, I have been in the process of testing numerous new transparent spray paints and sealers over the Summer. I am excited with the results and will be demonstrating these using an airbrush soon.
To stop cracks from continuing drill tiny holes at the very end of the crack, or in your case melt holes. Plastics will not continue to crack past the hole.
Yes the crack was so bad that the weight of the top half pushed down torquing or twisting the crack. It's really solid now. Thanks for watching. I'll have more videos shortly.
Hello Lacquer thinner can indeed remove paint that was poorly applued so try it on a hidden area first. If you are concerned about the paint then substitute denatured alcohol for cleaning purposes.
I@@johnyanik1414 I can’t seem to, no, but another person suggested a hair dryer and it worked! He’s able to stand now. The piece it glittered or flocked so the other suggestion of soaking it in hot water was not an option.

Thank you. Yes the stitches were quite a radical solution. Without stitching though no glue will support the HDPE.
Wow that's great news. Thanks for the update.

It was a project. There are still some road rash spots to get out and then its on to the airbrushing. Thank you for watching.
little bit hint. aluminum tape also serve "holding plastic" together for glue work or weld work. afterwards take tape off...
Your patients and technique is amazing. I'm hoping for some good painting and stripping advice to make old look near new. Thanks for sharing.

That was a pretty bad crack but great repair and that’s a nice way of holding the back together

Hello
Thanks for the tip. Yes drilling a hole at the very end of a crack works well. Thanks for watching.

Will the laqurre thinner take paint off??

thanks much for responding
Is it possible to reshape a blow mold which has become distorted? I have a very rare reindeer whose legs will support him anymore
Interesting. I would need to see some pictures to determine the correct course of action. Can you post some pictures.
