We're teaching these skills to 'upcycle' and make a home based small scale production line to encourage entrepreneurship. Teach them how to fish, font just hand them a fish
When I was a child, we used to make these flowers out of toilet paper squares for weddings to decorate the cars. Very good idea to use plastic bags; these would be great for party favors or gifts to use instead of a bow.
Gorgeous. We would take plastic bags and cut them into loops. Then, we would hook them together loop after loop. It's called Plarn. Plastic Yarn. Then, you crochet it into mats or into durable and reusable shopping bags. My neighbor said she heard of people making sleeping mats for homeless people.
If you can't find pretty colored plastic sacks, use the party plastic tablecloths they have all colors and are inexpensive. You can also use them to cut into strips for crocheting ! 💗 Lynn
@@mitchscroggins1327 Like any other soft, thin plastic, they fall under the category of plastic film, which can easily jam expensive recycling machinery and cause problems for the processing facilities. Maybe a specialized program will take them, like with plastic bags, but it requires a specialized machine and not all facilities have one. Recycling is a bandaid on a gaping, hemorrhaging infected wound. It is something, but it only goes so far. "It's plastic? Well just chuck it in the recycling bin and you are gold!" Unfortunately, it is more complicated than that. Here's another one. Plastic cutlery. Two main reasons it is not actually recyclable. The first reason is their small, skinny shape. When plastic utensils end up at the recycling facility, they tend to either fall through or get stuck in the machinery that sorts objects into groups of the same material. Recycling is nice, but it is not a complete solution. Recycling centers have to send loads of stuff to the dump. Look for your county's recycling guidelines, you might find them online, or you can ask.
So very beautiful....i made those exact flowers with colored kleenex 60 years ago...i wish i could find colored bags, but within the next 5 years, they won't be using them, but what a wonderful idea. Thank you.😊

@@mnf8362I have seen them like that - in the bin liner rolls - at the Dollar Store. I also have gotten pink ones from the checkout at pharmacies and smaller stores. Sometimes I’ll get blue ones there, too. Green ones often at grocery stores, though those are often “biodegradable” which probably wouldn’t work for this task. Here in California (USA) the thin ones are banned again, so we don’t see them often. But I still see them when I am in Tennessee where my parents live. Most often we get tan ones there from the Kroger. Not so great for flowers, but still good for plarn, or making into wallets, or plastic sheets to go under sleeping bags for the homeless. It’s best to not buy them new, if you can avoid it, of course.
Wondering what country you are in because in Australia plastic bags are no longer available and even when they were the colour was grey. Very nice work hope the plastic biodegradable.
This is so cute and pretty.. some of the comments are ..pretty cynical or fault finding...you can adapt this to suit your needs if necessary. They were just showing what you COULD do not what you MUST do...😉😊
When I was a kid, we would make the flowers out of tissues (mainly) put a bobby pin in the center and stick a bunch of them through a paper plate. We'd use ribbon to tie the plate to our heads for an "Easter bonnet".. (haha). We also used tissue paper to make larger flowers with a metal coat hanger that was opened up. I've had vases of homemade flowers like that around my bedroom all the time growing up. But this was a good idea with the plastic bags, but where I am, we do not have the color choice. Its just white or yellow with writing all over it.
This is what should be taught in schools how to make a gift from nothing and recycling stuff into everyday things is beautiful ❤️
right now they are teaching in schools how to be a victim, how to have segs etc.
Vous racontez n'importe quoi ! C'est une véritable nom c'est une véritable offense que d'avoir à vous lire !
@@brettcantrell8650 Evidence? You are just resorting to common stereotypes without having any real ideas what goes on in schools at all.
Primary/Elementary schools are teaching stuff like this all the time.

I also remember doing that! We would also make bouquets using tissue paper.

Hello, the pink colored plastic bag is usually from a roll of smaller garbage can liners, and some come scented as well...😊
