John, this is a LIFE saver for me!!! My dad's frosty got damaged real bad in a wind storm and I was so worried I couldn't fix it. These videos have given me hope in fixing him as well as my other blow molds!!! Thank you so much! Bless you for these
Hello. I'm so very happy to have helped. Your comments make my day. Everybody has such special memories attached to these traditional blow molds. I'm going to start a series of blow mold air brush tutorials shortly. Please post pictures of your work. Thanks for watching and have a very merry Christmas.
Thank you. I didn't realize these could be fixed. I have a few blow molds I've put aside with holes. I didn't have the heart to throw them away. I would love to see your molds lit up.
@@nitarichards1607 Hello I'll so glad to hear that you saved your blow molds. They can be patched up to once again brighten your holidays. Thank you for watching. Merry Christmas.
THANK YOU!!! I have a blow mold santa sleigh that has some creacks in it and i watched your first video months ago and now it doesnt look as hard. thanks
Great videos, John! Thank you for sharing. I’m a vintage Christmas fan and I just purchased a large Empire Santa for $5. His cuff of his coat is gone, similar to your Mrs. Claus. Im going to give it a go after watching your tutorials! Thank you! :)
John - These blowmold vids are terrific! I've got some stuff from the 60's that needs repainting. Can you do a video on your methods and techniques to repaint your pieces?
Hi! I have a Hobo Snowman as some call it. I saved him from a hoarder house. His glove is cracked near his hat. I have taken away the chipped area which is most of the glove except for the thumb and have made the holes to attach the repair material. My problem is I still can’t get my hand into the light hole enough to reach that far up into the mold. I am not very familiar with the Dremel tool even though I have one(it was my dad’s) what do I use to make the hole bigger?
Hello, High ambient temperature can indeed cause repairs utilizing standard low temperature glue sticks to melt between 104-115 degrees Fahrenheit. This is why I emphasize using "high temperature" hot melt glue. The high temperature version will melt around 250 to 375 Fahrenheit. HDPE plastic itself melts at around 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
John what material are you using in the hot glue gun and where are you getting it from? My wife just bought a Union blow mold Frosty that needs his hat repaired.
Hello, I have recently added links to all of the equipment and material that I use on my channel description. Be sure to use only "high temperature glue sticks with a high temperature glue gun". Only the high temperature version gets hot enough to partially melt the blow mold for better adhesion. Be sure to clean and prep the surfaces for better bonding. Thanks for watching. Do you have a video on painting blow molds?
I am currently working on a painting video that will feature air brush techniques for blow molds. It will include the use of transparent paints.

Great videos. I have a question though. What do you think would happen in the sun in a hot environment? Would the material soften again?
