Have things staked down different ways. Some are staked with wooden stakes with a screw though it, some are held against a metal stake with metal strapping. I will be making another video of my Christmas display this year, so maybe I'll put more focus on how I actually set it up.
@@SARGEinc I would like to see this too! My molds keep falling over and we have wind that is a terror to my display. Thank you for sharing and helping!
I have not, I might have to look into him though. I put all my lights away today, and one of those carrot nosed snowmen took another shot to the nose. It's the same one that's already cracked all on the sides, so I might try to do a little surgery on him before next Christmas
Your collection is fabulous! PLEASE - it is not obvious! Please help! I see some of your molds have stakes. I need to know how to anchor my blow molds in the grass. Mine keep falling over and the wind is not gently around here. I also have the Santa & reindeer and want to make them sturdy. I love how the reindeer is elevated. I am new to outdoor lights and holiday decorations - can you give advice or suggestions on the best electrical setup, also. Oh! I see the base of the choir boy! That looks really interesting and helpful. The house and yard look amazing! (can you tell I was writing my comment as I was watching? lol). But I really want help. Thank you!
So I have two different kind of stakes that I use. Some are rebar that I stick into the ground, and then I use what is called "All Round" strapping to hold the blow mold to them. I just put a couple screws into the back of them to attach the strapping. If you see the strapping I'm sure you can imagine what I mean. Then I also have a few that I just use wooden stakes, and then just put a screw through the stakes and into the back. Some of the ones I buy have other types or random things to hold onto stakes, like plumbing pipe clips and electrical conduit clips. I like the all round because it's adjustable and easy to use. Also some people just weight them down with rocks or bags of sand, but it's it's properly windy they still fall.
My electrical setup is mostly just a lot of sketchy extention cords and 3 plug adapters for extra plugs lol. My house was built with extra plugs in the sofits and extra switches in a closet inside, so that's kind of atypical and not really repeatable. I also use LED bulbs in most if not all my blow molds, so I feel better about having so much stuff plugged in.
@@SARGEinc I think I can use screws on a couple of the molds. The plumbing clips sound like a great idea, too. I appreciate you sharing your techniques. I know the "flying reindeer" will be a challenge. I am loving the blow molds and hope to find a few more.
@dawngunner7771 My flying reminder has a built in metal stand that it's on, then I just stick that stand into the ground with metal tent poles. The LED bulbs are good, and they are bright, but sometimes they are too bright. They turn the whole thing into a glowing orb, so you can't see any of its features. You just gotta find a happy medium with the bulbs. I definitely just wing it with everything. Whether that's Christmas or regular life, just wing it and see what happens!
Nice work, gonna like really festive once the snow flies. If you're worries about the the cracks on the snowman get a plastic welder and melt it back togthere, they are pretty cheap. Lol on the pm joke (not the actually pm who is a joke, but the joke about the joke of the pm)
I've talked to a lot of Christmas light people and they all have their secret tricks to fixing these things. Some use UV setting plastic epoxies, another guy was telling me about these thermo plastic beads that they use. I'll probably look into something in the off season, the snowman would look terrible with a hole for a nose😂
Thanks! You're kind of late for last Christmas, but you're a little early for this one. So it all depends on how you think about it. I actually added a nativity scene to my collection this year. I found a really good deal on one in the summer. Mary, Joseph, 3 wise men, a Shepard, some animals, and it even came with an angel, some LED Palm trees, and a plywood building frame for it sit infront of. I'm pretty excited for this years display.
@ I use 3 pallets and a big stakes and then a tarp on top. My angle got stolen in the early 2000s kids would come and steal stuff and I belive that was one that never got returned but I have the North Star so that’s good and the only box I’m missing is Mary Joseph and baby Jesus’s box but I’m planning on getting a new angle and rewiring my North Star it kelps short cicuriting
@KeithMelps That's dope. I grew up in a crazy Christmas light house, and we definitely had a few things stolen by kids in the 2000s too. One night someone just came by and cut a whole bunch of stands of lights for no good reason, and my dad said fuck it and took everything down. He stopped doing a big display for like 10 or 15 years, but now that he moved away and retired, he's gotten back into it.
Please do a video like this again for 2024 set up I loved this video
I plan on it. I've added a few pieces this year, and I have a couple of other ideas to bring the display to the next level. I'm excited.
@ nice I’m looking forward to watching the video
I love your house!! It reminds me of good memories with what your dad did!! I love driving home and seeing such good lights!! Good job ❤❤
Thanks Kelly!
How do you stake down your blowmolds? Could you make a video about it? I need ideas! :)

Well done , looks great Sarge 🎄 haha "eyes up here" 🤣🤣
Thank you!
Also have you seen John Yanik repairs blow molds on TH-cam? Just in case you need to repair a few - maybe the carrot nose on snow man. Thanks again!

@@SARGEinc Oh no! poor guy... check out the repair guy. He looks like he might have some good ideas for you. All the best to you - Happy New Year!
Awesome display! Love it!
Thank you
Looks awesome! Now you need a security guard to watch over the collection:)
I just roll the dice, but that's like 3 - 5 grand worth of characters just sitting on the lawn.

Wow, your serious 👍😊
Your dad would be proud of you “Clark” 😂
I agree. My dad likes 2 things I do, canoeing and Christmas, but it's definitely not in that order lol
