I can't estimate how many times I've watched this. If you're a DJ in a room with a hundred or so people dancing to what you're giving them a huge part of that is gaining their trust. 45 K does live what would take half a day on a DAW.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Mark, your mixing is smooth as silk. A lesson, if ever we needed one, its not about how flash or fast you can be, knowing the records and feeling it are everything. Thanks for this, its inspired me to go practice!! cheers.
2:15 " Forever Love" by Brass Construction.I didnt even realize I had this song in my collection ( on cassette) and didnt even remember it had that little break in it.45 King broke it down seamlessly..." SHUGA.... "
45 King is one of the most unspoken of DJ's from the early 80's. Not knowing how much of a mark that this brother has on on the hip hop game is a disservice.
The dj Life I can recall the day’s of just palse-mixing, when i was about 12 yrs. old I palse mixed, to planet rock on the radio, me & this guy name, robert use too play tapes, for each other. just too hear who was mixing better. but, when i move to Cali, got a few buck’s, together, I went to get my first set of turntables, 2 fisher belt driven, turntables & a mixer, from radio-shack, realistic joint ! from the book Brutally Honest / by Aaron Waugh / on AMAZON
Action - Orange Crush Rescue Me - Taste Of Honey the 3rd one sounds like a Steve Arrington song but i checked every album i have (4) from him and couldnt find it.
Notice how smooth is the needledropping - keeping the grooves of the old disco records in propa condition ! Mark, keep hittin us with that same stuff, i'm sure u got more obsecure stuff like that tune in 2:20 (waht's the title?).
It's a question of cutting rather than mixing.... if you're this good its easier than risking beat matching for 30/45 seconds in front of a club full of people(20 perecent of which are wannabe dj's) my conclusion is cutting is more skillful but less risky???
0.35 to 0.37 was a bit crap... 1.40 a bit crap too. i never really rated mark that much compared to other DJ's and anyone can drop a beat in now and then, ok to get it to hit at the right time takes skill, but he uses headphones and has time to cue up the breaks.. even 900 number wasn't that good..
RIP MARK. We love you!
"This is how it should be done, this style is identical to none!"
