    Happened upon this video after going down an '80s electrofunk rabbithole. The only thing that gave it away as not being the original was the digital recorder. Without that detail I would have been convinced it was the original mix. Brilliant work!

    • @sgtcreasegrease
      @sgtcreasegrease 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This one also sounds a lot cleaner compared to the og. Not necessarily digital in the squashed sense we're so familiar with nowadays, but the original is just super thick and dirty. I kinda like this one a little bit better.

    Always remember seeing Grandmaster Flash tearing down Wembley at UK Fresh 86 with the Furious Five and of course being able to witness his turntable fitness doing his Wheels of Steel routine - fantastic and awe inspiring memories of when deejays were real deejays with their decks, mixer and a stack of funky breaks on vinyl and no pre programmed BS or laptops!

    I have heard the original recording of this routine 1000 times or more. I have memorized every cut, break and nuance of this record and can honestly say I thought I was watching an impostor until about 3/4 of the way when some of the scratches sound levels and track clicks and pops of some sections didn't match the original which was a very pleasant surprise. Awesome job man.👍

    Yo, this is EPIC! Much respect. I've been cutting and mixing since the 90s and I don't think a lot of people "get" the difficulty level here (timing, pitch, etc.) So dope.
    I know flash apparently used 3 tables but the one thing I've always wanted to know is how he did the "flash is/good", "flash is/good" part. Those party noises had to have been the crew live in the studio with him just cutting "good" in response to the live MC because there's no way to "juggle" that part that I can think of.
    Anyway, this was ill.

      @@RocknRollZombie13 Another point: classic style WAS TO place the mixer BETWEEN the two tables(?)

    • @RocknRollZombie13
      @RocknRollZombie13 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      magic yes your correct Traditionally the mixer is always in the center that's the manufacturer's design I have a few Original portable DJ turntable rigs from the 1960s "LATEC" and they are a single manufactured unit with 2 turntables and mixer in the center. And yes you're correct about Grand Master Flash he did use both hands left to right either one cutting and scratching bangin faders that's the skill! But none the less this Dj is good he killed this SET! I would like to know what that unit is that he is using for his samples. What's the brand and model please

    What blows my mind is Flash did this routine in the 1900’s. He was a genius to even think of some shit like that.
    Respect to the homie duplicating it. You’re nice kid. Word.

    GM Flash is one of my favorite pioneer DJ's who I watched as a kid in the Bronx. Great Tribute. You used the turntables, mixer and LP's as an instrument. I tried to do this with a DJ Controller and could not do what you demonstrate. I like what I saw and enjoyed what I got!
