I guess I'm officially an old head now cuz I can't help but think this is when hip hop heads were still recognized by the industry before it became a pop industry. These dudes put in countless hours of practice for the fcking love of the craft! This is art that comes from passion and real love for the music!

I know nothing bout DJ things, I'm just a drummer.. but the guy in the hat, has the same sort of rhythm a drummer would interpret music, having alot of different syncopations. That is SICK!
The thing I admire about qbert's scratch technique is that he's super innovative. He makes the some of the most basic cuts sound crrrrazy. Some dudes just care about speed, when in the end its all about creativity. Props.

I've got the Skratchcon 2000 VHS, then I copped the DVD version, now I can watch it anywhere on my mobile device. I probably watch this clip a few times a year and it always has me in awe. ISP!!!
I was at scratchcon, this permformance made me the dj i am today. This was the teamwork session of the seminar, Skratch Perverts did a different teams routine at this seminar, too. I'm not sure if they were right before this routine or after, either way they rocked the house, too, with their out-of-this-world sound
So blessed that Q and Dave came to bondi beach in Sydney few years ago and hung out with us and got on the cut with my crew and us for the day we were so blessed that day it was a lovely day we will never ever forget these guys are on another level for real and to see them in a different light away from competition and pressure and just relaxing having fun is when they can be themselves and enjoy life and that’s what we did 💯👊🏽
I've seen them multiple times here in the states. They're always down to kick it after their set. Real cool dudes - positive energy, down to earth, zero ego.
The 2 best scratch DJs EVER. Theyd never ever claim this because they are waaay too SERIOUSLY HUMBLE. So much respect for these guys 30+ years later they are still kings of scratching!!!
I had 2 1200s and a vestax battle mixer like 15 years ago and sold them on an early ebay to pay rent. I recently looked them up...nobody makes this stuff anymore. Shure doesn't even make needles anymore. It's sad.
But its still technology. Thats todays version of computers and apps. 10 years from now someone will say the same thing as you saying computers and apps were old school and thats how its done
don't get me wrong....I'm not comparing the turntable with a guitar,I'm just sayn there's a universe of sound just like anything else!we deal with more combos and patterns rather than notes...all tho some DJs are trying to figure out a notational system.there r even a couple of DJs that have there own note system!all I'm sayn is that we want to b respected as musicans,not just DJs!!
