In the Early 80's there were COE Buoy that read Fish Attracter right where 100 or so tires are right now. That leads me to believe that the COE or TPWD put them there. They are called tire reefs. They were put there for Fish Habitat. There are several Tire Reefs throughout Lake Belton. A lot of the tires were tied together to make them stand up for better habitat. I'm sure some tires were illegally dumped. Most of the pictures I have seen online of 100's of tires were for Fish Habitat. If people are determined to remove these Tire Reefs, I hope there are plans to replenish with new Fish Habitat. TPWD has been adding some new Reefs in the last two years due to the decline of natural habitat caused by the ageing lake.

What you’ve shared makes complete logical sense… the irony of other comments calling humans ignorant for dropping tires in the lake, which in itself is ignorant. 😂
