    I am from Pearland, lived and worked in the Houston area for 22 years. I lived abroad in Italy for 3 years. I've lived in Colorado for the past 2.5 years. I just bought my home in the Austin area, and I feel blessed (new build, est. close date in November). However, I'm staying in Belton until my home is finished being built, and I'm so excited to see Belton. So thanks for this video. I love Texas. I am so excited to return to my home state. Central and southeast Texas is my favorite place in the world!

      Well, I bet Belton is not as populated as Pearland, Houston, and Clear Lake are. I am from Galveston and I am looking in this area to get away from the hurricanes. As a retired person, the last thing I want to do each summer is prepare for a Hurricane. Who wants to raise all the furniture, board up the windows, pack everything else, and get crackers, and bottles of water. I already rode out Ike and I have no plans of staying for any future storms. Two are enough. Oh, did I not say that I rode out Hurricane Carla as a baby?

      @@shykat2218 I hear you on staying away from the hurricanes! That's why I couldn't move back to south or southeast Houston area again even though I love it. I also rode out Ike. We lost electricity for like 2 weeks and were among the lucky ones. I remember that hurricane that hit TX right after Katrina- Hurricane Rita- and everyone evacuated to San Antonio and Austin, but it took us 24 hours to get to San Antonio, instead of the usual 2.5 hours. I was just 12 years old at the time, but it was then that I decided I could never buy a home in a hurricane prone area 😅. We also almost ran out of gas and people were completely stopped on the road. I just read that the evacuations for Rita may have been the largest evacuation in US History. Did you evacuate for Rita too? I have two cats these days, and I cannot imagine trying to evacuate with them in my Prius!
      I really hope you check out Belton. I'm here now, and it's very quiet! The video gave a great description of what it's like. Unfortunately there isn't a Costco here for the grocery savings, but otherwise, between Killeen/Harker Heights and Temple, Belton is a nice situated small town and you can get your shopping needs at the bigger cities nearby. The HEB here is quite nice. I wish there were more long paved walked trails for long bikes and long runs. I see many road runners and road bikers for this reason, which isn't always convenient. Also Nolanville has some nice homes between Harker Heights and Belton.
      Thank you for the walk down memory lane. I do miss Galveston Island! I used to work at UTMB Galveston.
      By the way, I'm closing on my home tomorrow! So today is my last day living in Belton! Good luck with your future plans, dear. I know it will go well. I would suggest moving before all the Californians take up the good homes.

    You will also hear the rocket tests from the rocket plant in McGregor TX, seriously if you live in some areas of belton you actually feel and hear the tests from that far away. True Fort Hood is largest land training base, so your windows and walls can rattle etc when they are out on range doing mortar drills, at all hours of day and night. People that live here call that the sound of freedom, but new comers sure do freak some lol

    Thanks, GUYS, for showcasing Belton!! A little back story, I'm a REAL Austinite, borne and raised. I chose Belton/Morgsns Point to ESCAPE everything Austin had become and the VAST majority of people who've chosen to live there over the last 30-odd years. GOOD JOB in helping to facilitate the inevitable ruination of my spiritual quietude. Thanks for the heads up that I need to hurry up and get my property on the market so I can once again escape the shitstorm that Austin trash will soon visit upon me. Much love. I hope your cars break down, you cats have fur balls, and everyone mis-genders you.

    Why would you go to Stillhouse lake, when you have Belton lake? Belton lake has some great "beaches". Also, I grew up on lake Belton, hearing the artillery in Fort Hood is a bonus of living in Belton! Belton is a great place to live if you work at Fort Hood or in Temple and you don't want to live "in the city", as much! Also, if you like to boat. If you have kids...I don't think it would be in my top ten choices of a place to live in the United States. Although, like many people, I'd retire there!

    People (realtors/developers) like you are the problem. Exploiting small towns and their land for money. We don’t have the time infrastructure to handle all these people. But hey, as long as you get paid who cares if that ranch that has been in the family for generations gets dozed down for cookie cutter houses and developments because that 80 year old couple couldn’t afford the property taxes due to the mass influx of Californians and Yankees. Sorry not sorry, n out everyone can get a piece of the pie. Everyone moves into these towns to get the “small town feel” then they directly have a hand in ruining what they seek. Wish they would all move back tbh.

Most of the time it’s job related. We make content to assist them with their decisions and the locations are based off of the questions we receive.

      Bought a home on the northwest side of Stillhouse Hollow Lake just up from Dana Peak in Harker Heights and occasionally there is a distant rumble like a far away thunderstorm, but I don't notice it much and I think that area would be slightly less. Just stay south or along FM-2410 for both less noise and less crime and the hills, lake views, and parks are very nice.

    • @bonesandbells
      @bonesandbells ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@W2HTLCA I don't think that area would have a lot of noise, but you'll still likely hear distant rumbles occasionally. It should be far enough away from Ft Hood to avoid most of the crime and it's an easy drive to both lakes, Belton, and Harker Heights.
