    Nobody wants an EV to sit for hours to charge a car - not everyone has a house. This is the best compromise - Hybrid, good mpg and fun to drive. Very exciting. Between this new 2025 Civic and the new 2025 Camry.

    • @TedwardDrives

      I think it also helps the net fuel economy increase while spreading batteries among many vehicles instead of hoarding them into individual EV. Not to mention keeping weight down! It just makes sense.

      I was also looking at the Camry. But I think the Honda takes the win. The interior simply looks alot more refined and high quality. Of all the places I gotta sit and spend my time. The Honda cabin looks for superior. The Toyota cabin looks 6 years dated already in my opinion.

    Thanks for standing out in the rain for us! I can't wait to get my hands on one of these and compare it to my '24 Touring. Just viewing your video, the initial torque is definitely there, but it doesn't seem to be any faster than the outgoing 1.5T past 30 MPH or so (not that it's a bad thing, they're quick as is). Curious to see if the road noise is any better than my '24 Touring too, they're pretty loud on the highway.

    Had this car since March this year and I'll tell you it's a lot of fun. I drive in Sports mode most of the time and am getting 60mpg, which is pretty amazing. Perfect car in my opinion

  • @patrickmainwaring5911
    @patrickmainwaring5911 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +25

    I've owned this car (well more or less this car) since March of this year. The e-HEV, as it's called here, is the only option we have in Europe since 2022. My previous car was a Volvo XC40 and I wanted something a little more "fun", cheaper to run, but just as practical for our small family.
    Let me tell you, Tedward is 100% correct that this is the perfect city car. It's so easy to drive, so quiet and stress free. It gives you power when you need it (although the e-HEV version is slightly less powerful at 184BHP), but the torque just allows you to pretty much get in front of anyone at red lights (bar maybe Teslas and other high-end electric cars) . Fuel economy is as good as Honda says it is.
    My only pet peeve with this car are the safety features which are tuned a bit too much "on the safe" side to my taste. I'll get beeping if I'm doing 51 in a 50... which is annoying. Lane assist is also annoying, especially in Europe where we have quite a few bike lines, it sometimes pushes you back into the middle of the road if you straddle onto one (some of our smaller two way streets only allow for 2 cars to pass if they go into the bike lanes)... so a couple of times it was a little dangerous. Hopefully they change that in the next software update as it's a common complaint over here.

    The way Tedward drove it (as if he is showing of an Si in a hybrid form) and still end up getting 46mpg?! That was pretty impressive! If you don’t need a really big back seats, this is the one to get over the Accord brother. It will be much morr nimble around the road, more powerful torque-wise, and still get the same mpg or better. Styling wise, the Civic looks way better than the Accord by a mile though I wish Honda make the rear lightings all LED (reverse and turn signals are still incandescent). You might miss on the bigger infotainment screen, and a vent/usb combo in the back seats but that is ok, this is cheaper but once inside you will feel like you are driving the same car since all Honda models have the same structure when it comes to the interior. I currently drive a WRX TR but I used to have a Honda and I can tell you that they know how to get the sporty steering (feel and weight) and just tuning their engine even with less power to make it a fun car better than anyone.

    Every reviewer I watch were in town I see! Looks fantastic. My only gripe is going to be dealer markup. 2024 Civic sport touring, non-hybrid, are going for 42k canadian in Montreal right now, while the Accord Touring Hybrid brand new sits in dealer lots around 45k-47k cad. That's where the civic sort of stops making sense, unless you really want a smaller car.

    • @sammyjammy6647
      @sammyjammy6647 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’ll take it point by point.
      1) in my particular case I don’t need AWD because I live in Southern California. But I’m sure it would add weight and be another component I would need to shell out significant money for if it breaks.
      2) pano roof. I have one on my 2023 Camry V6. I have heard of pricing nightmares, if something happens to it after warranty and it breaks or gets stuck. Upwards of close to $10,000. My next car won’t have a pano roof
      3) I agree with you on the 360 camera option. But it’s not a dealbreaker for me.
      4) A plug-in with extra large battery is not necessary. For what? A 50 mile range all electric? It sounds like a complete EV is what you’re leaning more towards. Also, there’s Toyota Prius prime if you really are craving a plug-in option. This seems like an unnecessary critique

Most cars these days have about 1/8th inch of cushion (even less in 10th gen civic) wrapped in stiff leather. That is not soft and gets quite uncomfortable on long drives.

    The only thing we will not know about this 2025 Civic Hybrid (until at least five years) is reliability, cost of ownership, and longevity.
    My 2018 10th gen Civic EXT (bought new) is still going strong after 204,100 miles. I’m averaging 37 mpg (combined). The only major issues were from the recalls…AC system and fuel pump. No oil dilution issues for me that seem more prevalent with the CRV’s using the same power plant (1.5 liter, turbo) in colder climate regions like Canada.
    Of course, I am far more obsessive about car care than the average owner so I’m guessing that’s why my Civic is lasting as long without major failures.

      well, yeah. But this doesn't have a transmission; just a gear reducer seat for the electric motor. The gas engine is assembled in-line with the generator motor, and connects to the driving wheels via clutchpack. There's no traditional transmission in there, so no hope of a manual in the hybrid, like older Honda systems.

    The “small battery” gives me a little pause. The original civic hybrid from 2008 also functioned like this at launch. The battery would deplete and refill during regular driving, it got great gas mileage while doing that. Shortly after it was released they recalled them for early battery failure then they pushed an update which seemed to decrease battery utilization and also decreased fuel economy noticeably. I’m worried they might do the same thing again…

    So to get this straight, the hype about this is that the powertrain is finally available in a Civic ? This and the simulated shifts. Because you can't call it especially new since it's been available in the Accord the last three generations and always making the same figures: 2L 140 hp engine with battery help making peak combined of ~200 hp and 170 hp at the AC motor/wheels. In that respect, the Camry seems more interesting since they use larger 2.5L with 180 hp engine to make ~230 combined peak (of course might be different transmission loss). After all, after you expend battery charge you can only expect as much as the engine's peak power out of the motor.
